The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 339 - 238: Major Progress
Chapter 339: Chapter 238: Major Progress
Dean Vera’s letter was a godsend for Rod, who had planned to use some a trump cards he hadn’t intended to use.
For example, he considered borrowing another wave of Spiritual Energy from the Void.
After cleaning out Mephit’s assets, Rod wasn’t lacking in any materials besides Divinity.
He immediately made another Resurrection Stone.
If he wanted to, he could even make one more.
But there were only 12 points of Divinity left, which he needed to save for Soul Firewood that might be used.
Now, Rod discovered that as long as he had the Resurrection Stone, he could perform at one thousand percent of his strength.
Not only could he abuse Spiritual Energy, but he could also rush into a monster’s den and detonate a massive explosion just before dying.
Rod named this tactic "Void’s Fury."
The more he borrowed, the angrier the Void became, and the greater the power.
And the stronger the Spiritual Energy, the more he could borrow, since "Awakening" was designed to completely refill all souls.
During this time, Rod had already obtained over three million Souls Without Spirit, and more than sixty of the most complete souls.
Both giants and soulless skeletons were Primary Rank Fierce Level monsters, with a classification in the Dream Realm as "relatively strong souls."
Thinking of this made Rod very angry.
Soulless skeletons were much harder to deal with than giants; even if frozen solid and chiseled at, it took a lot of effort.
Yet the amount of soul gained was the same as from a giant, just over 1200 points.
Rod had already categorized these monsters in his mind as worthless trash: stinky, tough, and barely holding any soul.
The giants, on the other hand, were high-value, premium monsters: plump, substantial, and easy to slaughter, oozing with rich rewards.
Now, Rod wanted to max out "Divine Sense" and "Spirit Elegy," and all he needed was "a very strong soul" and "a great soul."
Not only that, but with the plentiful amount of souls he had, if he could obtain a Monster Soul with a "Source," he could directly upgrade the next star to the final step.
This efficiency far surpassed all his past actions.
And in the foreseeable future, there would be even richer returns.
It’s no wonder Theodore had spared no expense in arranging this path for him.
Hahaha, Dean, you truly are my eternal god.
Rod bowed deeply to Theodore’s statue as a token of his respect and gratitude.
Just watch from the sky, your star.
The great Dark Devourer, Rod, will raise the torch high, leading the people towards light and victory.
Haha.
----
Since the path had already been cleared, the first group of apprentices quickly arrived at the Underground City from the secret base.
A total of sixty-seven people, consisting of a middle squad leader, a small squad leader, five team members, and sixty apprentices.
What slightly displeased Rod was that these people actually required him to pay their weekly salaries.
Though the price was not expensive, being the lowest market price, the collective weekly salary for sixty-seven people amounted to as much as forty thousand silver coins.
But that displeasure dissipated in the moment they saw Rod and collectively bowed to him, saying in unison, "Greetings, Captain!"
Fine, if the Captain has to take a little loss, then so be it; who says I’m not your big bro?
To Rod’s surprise, the middle squad leader wasn’t Teresa, but Beowood.
This man with a sturdy build seemed to have recovered, and with his strength, he naturally became the middle squad leader of the secret branch’s forces.
The team leader was Reslin, with members Egger, Karamon, Anna, the chubby Dodo, and Mina, who had joined the secret branch as a researcher and engineer.
All of them were old acquaintances.
After bowing, they hugged each other the next second, chattering excitedly about their exhilaration.
The scene was pretty lively until Mina shrieked, "Who’s touching me?"
Rod was the first to jump out of the group.
"Not me!"
This drew a burst of laughter from everyone, and Mina couldn’t help but laugh as well, "Alright, alright, it wasn’t you, you little rascal!"
The slender Anna muttered, "What’s so great about having big breasts?"
The proud golden-haired big sister looked down at her arrogantly, "That’s exactly what’s so great."
Beowood and Reslin expertly stepped between the two women, using their towering statures to block each other’s line of sight.
"Brother Rod, since you’re here, let’s get to work quickly, so you don’t waste your money."
Rod looked around, and sixty trainees looked back at him with eager and expectant eyes, waiting for the legendary only captain of the secret branch to assign their tasks.
"Where’s Kashan?"
Reslin answered, "She is cultivating the Seed of Rage. The Royal City provided her with a Flame Burning Potion, hoping to make her Fire Spark even stronger."
Karamon chuckled gleefully, "Rod, you have no idea how fierce that girl is now. When she gets angry, the shockwave from her punch blew up half of the secret base. Her father had to compensate the academy with a hundred thousand silver coins."
Anna warned, "You’d better be careful, Rod."
Rod recalled the scenes from when they were in Squad Ten; even then, an angry Kashan was quite terrifying, a chill rising inexplicably in his heart.
"Haha," Rod laughed dryly, "Isn’t that a good thing? Why should someone as upright and honest as me be careful?"
He coughed, swiftly changing the subject.
"Molly, you take over the arrangements."
Molly stepped forward, coming before everyone.
All eyes lit up.
The woman in front of them was tall, with a light blue commander’s uniform on her upper body. The design was exquisite and simple, outlining her delicate curves. The uniform was not tucked into a belt but left open, with a long hem beneath which were a pair of long legs in black silk.
This unprecedented style of clothing was a profound shock to everyone. An unusual aura hit them full force. Her attire seemed casual yet completely appropriate, seemingly revealing yet dignified and majestic. Wearing gold-rimmed glasses, her demeanor was cool, aloof, and full of an indescribable allure and intellectual elegance.
Everyone was stunned.
Squad Leader Beowood was drooling, seemingly without noticing.
Even Rod, who had seen it before, couldn’t help but sigh that clothing was indeed the strongest weapon to change a woman’s temperament. Molly, stern and cold with no femininity, was transformed into a noble, enchanting, and seductive female assistant.
I remember it was Theodore who suggested this to the King, right?
Wow, really? Lord Theodore, was this also within your calculations?
So, this is who you are. It seems I have indeed been influenced by you.
Molly’s expression remained unchanged as she seriously explained the precautions for the Underground City and the tactics of combat.
But most gazes were fixed on her swinging black silk legs, including those of the women.
Anna thought to herself, "Will I change if I wear that? I’m fed up with being ignored for my flat figure."
Mina also compared secretly, "I’m sure I’d look better in that than she does. Could I seduce Rod into the embrace of research and technology? Hmm... at least to divert a bit of his attention. My teacher and I have been waiting for months."
And just like that, a new vigor joined the expedition team.
Humanity’s footsteps took yet another step forward.
