The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 244 - 176: Joining the Battle
Chapter 244: Chapter 176: Joining the Battle
This was a massive cliff.
The gale howled, and the black fog rolled in, extinguishing the lanterns hanging by the knights’ waists.
Darkness swept in, engulfing everyone, leaving only the faint red light of the red tear stone.
The Knight Captain said in a deep voice, "This is Dead Cliff, at least a hundred miles away from the defense circle."
The darkness was very thick, and Rod noticed that his field of vision had significantly shortened to just under two hundred yards.
Suddenly, the Knight Captain said, "There are monsters approaching!"
Rod asked in surprise, "You saw them?"
"I sensed them, an eighth-level Spiritual Power Wave, Fierce Level Middle Rank, a total of nine, prepare for battle!"
Everyone’s Spiritual Energy lit up instantly.
"High Energy Level reaction ahead! Eagle Wings! Defend!"
A knight stepped forward, raised a huge shield, and Spiritual Energy spread from the shield like a bald eagle spreading its wings, forming a huge protective shield.
The next second, an extremely bright light shot through the air and struck directly on the shield.
A huge explosion obliterated all visibility, the power of the strike nearly equivalent to the pre-enhanced "Spiritual Power Fifth Layer Melody."
But the shield stood firm.
In the grey-white light, Rod clearly saw nine shadows charging forward.
Their Soul Waves were extremely intense, the waveforms complex and sharp, in a splayed stripe pattern, indeed Fierce Level Middle Rank monsters.
Perhaps the explosion had caused such intense fluctuations in Spiritual Energy that the Knight Captain didn’t react; Rod shouted, "The monsters are coming!"
The Knight Captain immediately said, "Engage in battle!"
Rod saw one of the shadows’ Spiritual Energy light up intensely, far surpassing the others, and immediately shouted, "Here it comes again! Spiritual Power Cannon!"
The Knight Captain immediately yelled, "Eagle Wings! Keep defending!"
Boom!
The second Spiritual Power Cannon hit the shield.
The knight stood firm, but fine blood trickled from his eyes, nose, and ears.
Rod shouted for the third time, "The monsters are up close! Three directly ahead, two at one o’clock, three at three o’clock, and one at nine o’clock still hasn’t moved."
The Knight Captain immediately adjusted his position.
"I’ll protect Eagle Wings! Everyone else, spread out, Rod, stay by the Dean."
Rod controlled all his Puppets to surround Theodore, Wood Puppets forming a wooden wall, with Flesh Puppets positioned in front of the wooden wall.
Seconds later, the monsters broke into the defense circle.
Rod finally saw what they looked like.
They were clumps of black viscous material, wearing huge ghost masks, legless, only with huge claws.
The Guard Knights quickly became embroiled in a tough fight, the ghost masks attacking fiercely with powerful Spiritual Energy. The most troublesome part was the small Spiritual Power Cannons suddenly shooting from the masks; the intense battle caused chaotic fluctuations in Spiritual Energy, making it impossible to sense, only Rod could detect it.
Rod continuously issued warnings, fully performing his duty as a scout.
Flesh Puppets also joined the battlefield.
The strength of this bulky figure far exceeded Rod’s expectations; although it was slow and missed hitting the ghost masks, it was also unafraid of their attacks, serving as a very good shield.
The battle gradually stalemated.
The Knight Captain shouted, "Hold on a bit longer! The transmission is about to be activated again."
Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly sensed a huge Spiritual Energy reaction in the distance.
"Ten, tenth-level Spiritual Energy reaction!"
A tremor rarely carried in the Captain’s voice as if he could hardly believe it, then he suddenly reacted.
"High Energy Level reaction ahead! Quick, protect the Dean!"
In an instant, all knights dashed behind Eagle Wings, opening up their Spiritual Defenses.
The Captain pushed Rod aside, throwing him to the rear.
"Survive, take with you..."
Before he could finish, a huge white light shot through the air, instantly piercing through Eagle Wings’ protective barrier, swallowing all the Guard Knights, and the residual force then pierced through the Flesh Puppets, tearing the cluster of Wood Puppets into two halves.
As the white light fell, everything in front of it turned to ash.
In the distance, more ghost masks flew towards him, and an even larger white shadow moved slowly towards him.
Rod’s heart began to race.
But time was up.
The next moment, the gray light brightened, his vision once again blurred and a feeling of weightlessness came over him. When he regained his senses, he had been teleported to a new place.
This was a mountainous area filled with sharp rocks, the black fog not as thick, but the visibility still unable to reach two thousand yards.
Now, only he and Theodore were left.
The Dean’s huge body lay quietly beside him, with no indication of when he might awaken.
Rod felt heavy-hearted. He didn’t want to dwell on it and chose a hidden cave to take shelter in.
This was an absolutely wise choice, as it wasn’t long before the ghost masks from the cliff chased after them, and they brought even more ghost masks with them.
Rod immediately summoned a large number of Wood Puppets, forming a cluster to block the cave entrance.
Huge bangs continuously came from outside, the sound of breaking twigs and branches constant, the sturdy Wood Puppets holding firm against the external attacks, dragging it out until the next teleportation.
When the visibility was restored once more, Rod saw a vast familiar wasteland, and his visibility finally returned to two thousand yards.
Was this Corpse Wasteland?
The wasteland in front of Sword Pass?
Wasn’t this the inner layer of the defense circle? What danger could there be here?
Rod stood up, looking around.
Indeed, the nearby monsters were mostly Mature Level or below, posing no threat to him now.
It should be safe now.
Even more fortunately, it wasn’t long before the Dean finally opened his eyes.
