The Last King Of Darkness -
Chapter 204 - 148: King of the Sewers_2
Chapter 204: Chapter 148: King of the Sewers_2
She cried while swiftly processing the task briefs, her delicate fingers sliding quickly across a crystal touchscreen below the counter.
A large rectangular crystal on the wall behind her lit up, and one task after another was swiftly marked as completed.
The completer was none other than his codename, "Dawn Blade".
Joy for Ado +101
Humanity +10
Rod scratched his head, not understanding why simply cleaning a sewer would move her so much.
And this spiritual technology is simply defying the heavens.
No wonder they don’t care about electromagnetism and have developed some mechanics instead.
Turning his head back, he saw that everyone in the tavern seemed petrified.
Iron Wolf Wade, who mocked him the day before, was gaping, staring at the crystal on the wall with bulging eyes, and had forgotten to eat the buttered beef hanging from his fork, which slid down and fell into his crotch.
"Ouch!"
While Iron Wolf was fumbling around his crotch, Rod asked, "Miss Ado, do you have any tasks suitable for me now?"
Ado’s cheeks were flushed, her eyes still wet with unshed tears, and she spoke softly, "Mr. Dawn Blade, you can call me by my name."
Rod hesitated for a moment, then called out, "Ado."
Ado softly asked, "May I know your name?"
Rod was silent for a few seconds, opting not to reveal his real name in case the academy found out he was secretly working and it would cause some trouble.
"My name is Soron."
Ado revealed a sincere smile, "Then, Two-Star Hunter Soron, what kind of task would you like?"
Rod straightforwardly said, "I want a task to hunt powerful monsters."
Ado didn’t look at the thick task briefs in her hands but appeared pensive.
"Sorry, Soron, can you tell me your combat level?"
Rod was a Ninth-Level combatant, but he certainly couldn’t report that, so he thought for a moment and said,
"Seventh Level."
Ado’s eyes widened immediately.
"You look so young, and you’re already a Seventh Level combatant?"
Rod was startled inside, I thought I dressed old enough, do I still look young?
Aren’t those small team leaders all Seventh Level?
Ado leaned in closer, asking softly, "Why don’t you stay and develop in the legion?"
Rod was at a loss for words when Ado suddenly covered her mouth and repeatedly apologized, "Sorry, sorry, I shouldn’t have asked that."
But her bright eyes were full of unstoppable laughter.
"Soron, as a Two-Star Hunter, high-threat tasks are not allowed for you, but you can join a team to do so. However, if the task level differs greatly from your star level, you cannot accumulate experience to increase your star level."
Rod nodded, as long as he could participate in the hunting, the hunter’s star level wasn’t that important.
Ado raised her voice.
"Iron Wolf, come here, your last team member has been found."
Iron Wolf, his crotch smeared with butter, walked over with a grim face and glanced at Rod.
"Ado, you’re not saying it’s him, are you?"
Ado said seriously, "Iron Wolf, he is a Seventh Level combatant."
Iron Wolf looked at him skeptically.
"Really?"
"Soron wouldn’t lie, he finished thirty-four sewer cleaning tasks in seven clock hours."
This record shut Iron Wolf up.
If it were him, seven clock hours would be enough for a new task—rescuing combatants lost in the sewers, or eliminating newly emerged monsters from the sewers.
But he didn’t agree immediately.
This "Dawn Blade" clearly got a new hunter’s license, what his actual strength is and whether he would be a liability, no one knew.
His face was also disguised, concealing while revealing, highly suspicious.
"Are you a Spiritual Fire or Starfire?" Iron Wolf decided to probe a bit first before deciding whether to have him or not.
Rod answered, "Starfire."
"How many Fire Sparks have you ignited?"
"Four."
"What’s the name?"
Rod hesitated for a moment, ’Black Food Bucket’ was too indicative of him, anyone could immediately associate it with him.
Iron Wolf Wade spoke impatiently, "Just tell me what abilities you have."
Rod thought for a moment and answered, "I have high Spiritual Vision, can use the Spiritual Energy Cannon, summon the Spirit Boat, have the ability to sever souls, and my Spiritual Energy recovery is very strong."
Iron Wolf Wade looked at him skeptically.
Generally speaking, hunters do not exaggerate their abilities, as doing so would directly put themselves and their squad in jeopardy, endangering their lives.
"What’s your Spiritual Power Level, and what’s the highest Spiritual Power Strength you possess?"
"Spiritual Power Level Three, highest Spiritual Power Strength 2.1 thousand ticks."
"That’s too low," Iron Wolf shook his head, "You don’t seem like a Seventh Level Combatant, more like a fresh graduate."
Rod was stunned, I’m a freshman, did I graduate just after a few months of enrollment?
But he couldn’t say that; he thought for a moment and answered, "But my actual combat ability is very strong, Spiritual Power doesn’t represent everything."
Iron Wolf shook his head, "Sorry, I follow the Spiritual Power Sect; I truly can’t trust those with too low Spiritual Power."
Rod hadn’t figured out what to say next when Calier spoke up first.
"Iron Wolf, he completed thirty-four sewer missions in seven clock hours."
Iron Wolf’s face darkened.
This was indeed an irrefutable record, with the Recording Crystal and Hunter Mark, it was virtually impossible to fake.
But he still remained silent, contemplative. As a hunter captain, accurately assessing a team member’s strength was very important.
Every captain has their preferences and focuses, and he valued Spiritual Power highly.
Calier continued, "His mind is cool, observation keen, reasoning prominent, adept at tracking and spotting minute details, truly an exceptional hunter."
Iron Wolf questioned in confusion, "How do you know that?"
Calier’s face revealed a bright smile.
"I saw it from his Recording Crystal. Without such qualities, how could he have accomplished thirty-four sewer missions in seven clock hours?"
Iron Wolf’s face turned so red he couldn’t even utter a word of objection.
Calier kept on, "He also possesses a superhuman memory, can remember the intricate sewer routes, strong deductive reasoning skills, can identify the types of monsters and their active areas from slight traces, has keen smell and high intelligence, and never overlooks a monster..."
"Alright, alright," Iron Wolf raised both hands in surrender.
"I agree."
Only then did Calier show a smile.
"Iron Wolf, I knew you are the best, here, this cup of long silk milk tea is on me."
She placed a steaming cup of milk tea in front of him and stealthily winked at Rod.
Iron Wolf drank the milk tea with a melancholic expression and extended his hand to Rod.
"Welcome to the team, I am Iron Wolf Wade, a Five Star Hunter, Seventh Level Combatant, Fifth Level Spiritual Energy, Spiritual Power Strength twenty-one thousand ticks, my Soul Trait is Greenification, and I specialize in the front tactical position."
Upon hearing this, Rod realized how many discrepancies there were in his own story.
Both being Seventh Level Combatants, yet the difference in Spiritual Power Strength was tenfold.
No wonder he didn’t believe.
Indeed, my Spiritual Energy is increasing too slowly; I must find a Star that can boost it rapidly.
After the handshake, Iron Wolf’s attitude evidently changed.
"Dawn Blade, our mission is commissioned by the Mayor of Green Grass Town; he suspects the presence of a monster nest nearby but hasn’t located it. Part of the town’s industry has been damaged, and its threat level might surpass that of the town’s Protector. Due to scheduling issues, advised by the Military War Department, they issued a hiring mission from the Hunter Headquarters, hence, this mission may be very troublesome, do you understand?"
Rod nodded.
"The team consists of four people. We leave at dusk, meet at the East City Gate. There are still three clock hours left; you can go prepare. Let’s sync our times now."
Iron Wolf pulled out a pocket watch, synched it with Rod’s, and rushed off.
Meanwhile, Rod didn’t leave immediately but suddenly thought of some questions he wanted to ask the leader of this hunter division.
Calier poured him a cup of black tea with a light, laughing tone.
"Here, Soron, ask whatever you want to ask."
At that moment.
In a secret branch base of Jinworth Academy, the real Soron sneezed.
"Strange, has my constitution weakened? Hmm, it must be from looking at these things too much."
He set down the Recording Crystal he was holding, planning to discuss the students’ education problems with Principal Vera and Leader Calier.
