Chapter 177: Chapter 129: Besieged_3
"This is our hope, it’s all up to you now."
Beowood carefully tucked the letter into his chest and smiled, "Don’t worry, Beowood of Barley Village has never failed a mission."
Dark Leaf nodded, "We will bypass from behind Death Mountain, head to Giant Fortress first, then deliver the letter to Dawn Fortress. The route is very safe, and the targets are minimal. Both Beowood and I are fast combatants. Even if we encounter monsters we can’t handle, we can still run away."
Rod wanted to say something but stopped himself.
He was considering sending it by Spirit Boat.
But then he thought that if he went, he wouldn’t be able to deal with the Horror Demon.
Moreover, the Spirit Boat consumes too much Spiritual Energy. Going and coming back, he would be without combat ability for a long time.
Before leaving, Beowood patted Rod on the shoulder and smiled, "Kid, stop worrying about women all the time. Train hard. I look forward to the day you become the rising star of fire."
Rod’s face darkened. Do I look like a starving ghost desperate for women?
"If that day really comes, I’ll treat you to the company of the top three beauties from Red Workshop for a whole month. I mean it; Beowood never breaks his promises, haha."
With laughter, Beowood strode out of Sword Pass Fortress alongside Dark Leaf.
Pah! You’re the one who’s a starving ghost for affection!
Rod returned to the city wall in frustration and continued fighting.
There was a glimmer of hope in Sword Pass, and the atmosphere finally improved a bit.
Meanwhile, Mo’er used his ultimate move—activating the power of Guardian Fire.
This was an uncommon tactic because it would damage the foundation of Guardian Fire, which couldn’t be restored no matter how much Fuel Element was added.
But the situation was dire now. Outside, the dark tide loomed oppressively, and the Spiritual Power Generator was under immense pressure.
If not used, Sword Pass would fall quickly.
Rod also experienced the power of fire for the first time.
When Mo’er activated the Guardian Fire, Rod felt as if the sky had brightened. The intense light shooting from the center of the fortress penetrated countless monsters, burning them to ash without even a flicker of flame.
Only a few stronger monsters managed to endure for a few seconds, but their end result was still a pile of ash.
However, the power of the fire lasted only for a few seconds.
When it subsided, darkness returned with a vengeance, a hundredfold faster.
The range of the fire also dropped from two hundred yards to one hundred sixty yards.
This only made the situation more oppressive.
The monsters hadn’t all been wiped out.
Soon, the front of Sword Pass was once again filled with monsters, and the Spiritual Power Generator was maxed out again.
However, at least the powerful monsters had been killed.
They couldn’t clean up the weaker monsters; they could only defend the walls, specifically targeting monsters that posed a threat to Sword Pass, and trying to use the fire to kill groups of monsters.
If an unmanageable situation arose, then they would have to activate Guardian Fire.
Rod gave all his stored Fuel Element to Mo’er.
Although it couldn’t restore the Guardian Fire, it did increase its strength a bit, speeding up the damage to the monsters.
The eleventh day.
Sword Pass was nearing its limits.
Whether it was Dawn Fortress or the messenger, there was still no news.
The only consolation was that the Horror Demon finally did not appear.
This greatly restored a lot of combat strength to Sword Pass.
Rod also used up his two Tree-man Puppets to their limits; they ended up as a pile of ruined branches.
Mo’er decided to give them a thick burial—sending the branches into the fire.
The twelfth day.
A turnaround appeared.
A huge insect arrived outside Sword Pass.
