The Last Human In The Empire -
Ch. 19.1 - Dreadful
Chapter 19.1 Dreadful
The deep howl, accompanied by the sound of hunting wind, rang in the palace for most of the night.
He Xile couldn't remember when he fell asleep, but he only knew that when he woke up, he was still huddled under the blanket, afraid that if he showed a toe out, it would be eaten off by little monsters.
It was so stuffy.
He Xile turned over carefully.
There was a hazy sense of light on the quilt.
It looked like it was already daytime.
He carefully lifted a small corner of the quilt, and a brilliant light immediately shone into the quilt.
Sure enough, it was bright outside. It was obvious that the weather was good today.
The sun shone on the earth and cast a golden light. The myriad greenery outside the window spread out as the wind moved, lively and with the wisteria blooming from the promenade in the distance.
All the bright colors dispelled the unknown and fear in He Xile's heart.
In broad daylight, there shouldn't be any more problems, otherwise, this ghost was too bad at martial arts.
He Xile slowly lifted the quilt.
His back was a bit sore from bending, so he stretched out on the bed and immediately heard his bones clicking.
He rolled over comfortably on the bed.
A knock on the door came at the right time.
“Your Excellency, He Xile.” The guard's voice came through the door. “Are you awake?”
“Awake—”
He Xile dragged out a long tone of agreement, got off the bed, and opened the door for the guards.
The guards pushed the dining cart into the room.
The one who came today was the vertical pupil guard. His personality was a bit more skittish than his colleagues.
He Xile greeted him and went to wash up first.
There was one more person in the room, a tall and powerful guard with extraordinary skills. He Xile felt a sense of masculinity, and his heart was much more stabilized, but the speed of washing up this time was still much faster than before.
Coming out of the washroom, He Xile went straight to the guard and sat down next to him.

The guard's body stiffened.
Ah, ah, ah.
What to do!!
The human was so close to him now!
If it weren't for the clothes that separated them, their skin would be plastered together now!
Whoops.
The little human beings were so clingy, making people want to hold all the good things in front of each other.
The guards enjoyed this treatment for the first time, and couldn't help but be happy. The intracranial thrill kept his body motionless, for fear that He Xile would realize that the two of them were too close and move aside.
But this didn’t prevent the guard from doing something else.
He turned his head and looked at the human sitting beside him, looking as if he were a little nervous, but he still couldn't hold back and yawned a little. Seeing this, he felt his heart was going to melt.
So cute.
Lowering his range of motion, the guards brought out the dishes. “Your Excellency, looking at your appearance, you didn't sleep well last night?”
He Xile was taken aback when he heard this.
His yawning movements paused.
Um?
The commotion in the palace last night was so loud and lasted for a long time that it was impossible for anyone to sleep well, right?
He Xile was about to mention what happened last night to the guards, asking who was yelling, what happened, whether the other party was aggressive, etc., but after hearing what the guards said, he stiffly held back all his questions.
He Xile said vaguely, “It's true that I didn't sleep well, I'll catch up on my sleep later.”
“Uh-huh. Sufficient sleep will ensure a full day of energy.”
The guard didn't think much of it.
He Xile finished his breakfast absent-mindedly.
When the vertical pupil guard left, he also warned, like the previous one, “Didn't you say you were going to sleep before? Go to sleep for a while. Even during the day, please do not go out to prevent accidents. If you need anything, please contact us at the terminal.”
He Xile, “Okay, I will.”
The door to the room was gently closed.
He Xile frowned and paced back and forth in the room.
After turning around twice, he sat on the rocking chair next to the floor-to-ceiling windows and looked out the window.
The entire palace was silent, and no person or object could be seen in his line of sight.
What happened to everything last night? What were those voices he heard?
Not knowing anything, he just simply logged into Star Net and went straight to the library.
Maybe the book would have the answer he wanted to know.
From morning to afternoon, except for eating, the rest of the time he immersed himself in the library, finding out bits and pieces that he didn't know if they were answers or not.
The people on Hexinna, while receiving the conveniences and advantages offered by the second trait, also suffered in part.
Their whole body molts in stages; teeth continue to grow until they pierce through the jaws; and bones close and stretch for a period of time. Every once in a while, people who possessed the second trait felt endless pain, and some even developed bloodlust and violent cytokines.
He Xile recalled the sound made by the giant beast last night, as well as the condition of the palace, and felt that it seemed to fit this situation.
It must be hard, right?
He Xile searched for ways to relieve their pain, only to be told that it was brought on by the second trait and couldn’t be relieved.
Also, if there was a method on the Star Net, it was impossible for the giant beast not to know, let alone martial law.
However, the guard's words also took a small root in He Xile's heart—it seemed that not everyone could hear the wailing of the giant beast in the palace.
So what did this mean?
