Chapter 94: Saving Mr. Cold And Grumpy

Chapter 94: Saving Mr. Cold And Grumpy

The kashkil man looked up at the right moment just as the arrow flew in a precise flight that cut an accurate path through the sky. I watched as the man blocked the arrow with his sword, sending it crashing into the ground he then turned to stare directly at the bush where we were hidden. I wasted no time in nocking another arrow.

"Looks like we have company people!" The man said and all the men turned to look at us.

I fired another arrow from the shadows and this one struck one of the men in the front of his chest. The man who had an arrow in front of his chest emitted a roar as he charged forward towards the bush.

"Alright Heather, find a way to free the men. Eddie, you are with me, stay close!" I warned before I stepped forth out of the shadows.

I met the man head on, racing forward and before he could grab me I bent low and slid forward slicing at the tendon behind him causing him to stumble forward. I wasn’t done, I grabbed the dagger I had used and threw it at the leader but again he docked it which I was prepared for.

I stood up raced forward and leapt up in the air using my elbow to launch forward at the man. Before I could get a hit the man raced both his hands to block my attack. I tried to punch him again but he grabbed blocked my blows effortlessly before he delivered one to my face causing me to stagger backwards.

The pain made me disoriented, I shook my head a little to chase away the pain and when I looked up I saw the man advancing towards me with his wicked looking blade. Beside me, I could see Eddie holding off his own with a kashkil warrior. Somewhere along the line Reagan and his companion had gotten freed and had joined in on the fight.

The kahkil leader approached me and I wasted no time in unsheathing my own sword. I raised it up to defend myself just in time to parry his sweep down. A firm impact with his strike made my arms reverberate but I managed to stay put by gritting my teeth.

The man was fast, faster than I expected from a man of his size. He didn’t bother to play around, he went in aggressively, raining swift attacks with his dark blade that depicted malevolence and bloodlust.

He attacked without rest so I defended with blocking slants and reverting strikes as I could but his persistence did not stop.

A hard force from his kick jerked me into a backward fall. I forcefully hit the tree trunk as I slid back causing myself to lose all my breath. The Kashkil leader sneered as he brought his sword intending to kill me.

I knew I had seconds left to act so I clutched the ground under me, feigning struggle more than I already was. I relaxed my body, allowing mu eyes to flutter shut as if I was in a daze.

He bought it!

The moment he advanced towards me, I removed the blade I had tucked in my holster and then with speed, I raced forward and jammed it in his boots causing him to howl in pain.

The human body has some key vital points that one need to take important notice of when stuck in a fight you cannot win. Bjorn taught me that when I complained about not knowing how to beat him in a fight, so he taught me and he only said to use it when I know I couldn’t ever win a fight.

Everything Bjorn taught me immediately came to mind. I grabbed my sword and using the hilt, I delivered a hard blow to his stomach causing him to double over in pain. The man made a move to grab me but I turned out of his way and gave him another heavy blow at the side of his head which made him to growl in pain.

He made another move to grab me this time around reaching for the scarf I had wrapped around my face. The scarf slowly gave way when I moved backwards but I didn’t let that stop me, I gripped my sword I used the hilt to deliver another blow towards the spot under his chin.

Blood sprayed from the man’s mouth as he threw his head back and without any hesitation, he fell down to the ground. Breathing heavily, I pared down at him only to see him fluttering his eyelash at me, struggling to stay awake.

"Can’t believe I got knocked out by a bitch!"

"Best believe it arsehole!" I snarled as I stared down at him, "And this is for daring to lay hands on my man!" I delivered another kick to the side of his head knocking him out finally.

I raised my head up only to see that the rest of the other men had been apprehended too. Eddie and Heather were busy tying the rope around the men we had found and Reagan and his companion were busy staring at me.

"Now correct me if I’m wrong or if the wine we drank has really fucked me up which I doubt since it was just a bottle." Reagan’s companion muse as he started forward, "But isn’t it your wife we are staring at?"

Reagan didn’t bother to answer his companion, he just continued to stare at me. His expression unreadable and I wished I could crawl back into the bush to go and hide.

I swiped the blood from my mouth using my hand before I tucked my shoulders back. My heart pounded erratically in my chest and it had nothing to do with the fight that just happened, it had everything to do with the ferocity of Reagan’s stare and as he continued to stare at me, I realized that I will gladly take the comfort of the bush than deal with the shit storm that I knew was sure to come!

Reagan’s companion stared between me and Reagan before he nodded his head. "Yup, definitely your wife. So does anyone care to explain or are we going to wager on who will lose the staring contest first?"
