Chapter 174: One Way Or Another
Chapter 174: One Way Or Another
REAGAN POV
The silence that followed after Ivana spoke those lines was loud, safe for Ivar who was still crying hoping someone would notice him but it would seem everyone has got different priorities as of right now. I stared at Ivana with a stern look in my eyes before I decided she wasn’t worth it. Besides, I couldn’t yell at her. She has been a really great help towards Ivar lately so I couldn’t yell at her. Heaving out a sigh, I did the only thing that I could, I left.
"You think she’s going to be happy?" Ivana yelled at me stopping me again in my tracks, "He is your son Reagan and sooner or later, you are going to have to just accept that fact instead of you running away from it."
"You should really drop this Ivana!" Nikolai warned.
"I would listen to him if I were you." I warned as I continued to walk away.
But Ivana was stubborn as hell. "No I won’t!" She countered, "It’s been six fucking months and yes we are all tortured about her death, we are all devastated about it but do you think Dahlia would want to see you like this? You neglecting to take care of your son?"
My hands clenched at my sides at the words Ivana spoke and particularly at the mention of the name. I could feel the pain in my chest, like my heart was wrapped by a chain and being pulled tighter. I knew what she was talking about and I knew it wasn’t fair but I couldn’t bring myself to care, not right now.
"Ivana, that’s enough." Heather mumbled, "Sire is just hurting."
"We all are!" Ivana argued her voice rising, "He thinks it’s easy for us? We were there with her until her final moments and we will have to carry on with that guilt for the rest of our lives. She trusted us with her child because she was hoping you would love him." She said her words with a scoff, "I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t have sacrificed herself if she knew this was going to be the outcome of it all. Poor girl is probably turning in her grave at the_"
Ivana’s words ended in gasp because I had gone to her and grabbed her by her throat. She tried to shove me away but I walked her backwards till her head was slammed against the wall.
"SIRE!"
"REAGAN!"
Nikolai and Heather yelled as they stared at me with a look of horror on their face. Adriana moved backwards, a look of horror on her face as I held Ivana by her throat while she tried to fight me. She should have listened when they tried to caution her and most importantly, she shouldn’t have brought her name and she shouldn’t have used the word grave in the same sentence.
"You should have listened when they warned you." I said my voice cold and void of all emotions.
Nikolai stepped forward, "Okay Reagan that’s enough, you made your point."
"No, I don’t think so." I said with a scoff, "The moment I let go of her she was going to get back to talking. Damn woman just doesn’t seem to know when to shut up!" I said and I watched Ivana’s nostrils flare in anger as she glared at me.
"Okay sire, please just stop!" Heather pleaded, "She wouldn’t want this, please my lord." Heather breathed her voice shaky.
I closed my eyes as I willed myself to calm down. But it wasn’t like me to get emotional or angry fast, right now I wasn’t thinking straight and the mention of Dahlia’s name was what triggered it. I was doing so well, perfectly fine, I do not need anyone and I can’t take care of anyone right now. All I want is to get Dahlia back even though they believed that she was dead.
I know for a fact that she wasn’t, she can’t be dead. She was the strongest woman I know and I was going to get her back and I don’t care if I have to commit treason just to get her back. I need her because I can’t continue this life without her.
"Alright man, let her go now!" Nikolai asked and there was an authoritative edge to his tone.
I turned single handedly to look at him, "Are you giving me orders now?"
Nikolai didn’t back down, instead he straightened and glared at me. "Release her now. She didn’t say anything wrong."
Slowly, I released my hold on Ivana who crumpled down to the ground as she sucked in air back into her lungs. I heard her mutter the word ’bastard’ under her breath but I didn’t care, my focus was now on someone else.
I turned to look at Nikolai, "So you agree with her then?"
"She isn’t wrong and you know that. You are not the only one who lost her, we all did and we have no choice than to move on because that is what...."
"Now see that is where you are wrong!" I said cutting him off, "I have a choice and it’s not moving on because Dahlia isn’t dead and you all believing that she is shows exactly what kind of people you are. You do not know Dahlia, not like I did. She isn’t dead, she is alive and I’m going to find her!"
Nikolai closed his eyes as if he was in pain or perhaps, he was frustrated. "Reagan, you should..."
"If you tell me to accept it, I swear I am going to punch you in the face." I said and Nikolai backed down immediately, his mouth clamping shut as he swallowed back down whatever words he wanted to say. I turned to look at Heather and Ivana, "Now make sure he stops crying and falls asleep, I don’t care how you do it just make him fucking stop!" I growled at Heather who shook her head at me as if in pity but I turned and walked out the door, slamming it behind me with more force than necessary.
Who were they to pity me? They were nothing and I swear, I was going to get Dahlia back, one way or another!
