THE Knight's Hidden Princess
Chapter 147: Me Too!

Chapter 147: Me Too!

"Why can’t I come again?"

I rolled my eyes at Eddie who was busy standing in a corner watching as Heather packed my luggage for mount Callum which were mostly just white dresses. The sister of the earth believe in purity. It’s a little bit stupid if you ask me but it is a rule that once you get to mount Callum you have to behave like the purest of the soul, like being born again and live a sinless life in order to be blessed by Naktus. I honestly do not believe the whole stories I’ve heard about the sisters of light, I mean reading it in a book was different but going to see it in person was different.

I still thought the whole thing about the sisters of light was just a convenient excuse to keep the women away from society which I have no problem with since the society hasn’t always been fair to women. But then I guess I should be glad that I was going to be visiting an historical moment.

I sighed as I stared up at Eddie, "I already explained to you that you need to stay and keep up with the rebels, they need to see the black knight, so you are staying because..."

"Because you need me to keep up with the hoax!" Eddie finished while grumbling under his breath.

"Besides, I do not think white is exactly your color" Heather said from where she was while Eddie pouted as he gazed at us with those eyes he always used to make us feel guilty.

"You truly wound this poor man’s heart Heather." Eddie said holding his chest in a dramatic way as if Heather had grabbed a dagger and threw it at his heart instead, "Besides white brings out authentic radiance which resides within me."

Heather shared a look with me before she turned to look at Eddie, "Now those are a lot of big words for such a small man."

Eddie’s ears turned pink at the tip but he straightened. "I am not that small besides, I have been reading a lot, Sir Reagan has been giving me books to read, so it helps a lot."

"Oh well, well, well, well, look at you!" Heather praised Eddie while I smiled inside about Reagan’s thoughtfulness.

Making sure Eddie gets a proper education has been on my mind and I was grateful it wasn’t just me. Although, I’ll still need to get him into school so he could get the proper education he needs.

I turned to look at Eddie with a smile. "Right now, I do need your presence at the base." I said to him with a certain firmness to my tone. "The rest of the rebels barely tolerate me as it is and Lars, well he is trying his best but I don’t know how much longer I can hold on before someone figures out my everything doesn’t make sense and starts asking questions. They need to see the black knight, he must appear strong and broken because he is the only one who can reassure them and ensures the plan goes well." I said.

"But_"

"Besides, you are the only one I trust to get this handled!"

That seemed to get Eddie to shut up whatever protest it was that he had in his mind. "You...you trust me?" He looked almost surprised.

I could see Heather rolling her eyes but I ignored her and nodded my head at him. "But of course I do trust you, you are the only one I trust to get things done here!"

Eddie huffed out a breath before he nodded his head. "Fine!" He said, "I’ll stay and keep up appearances whenever you go around meditating with women of history while sporting flowers on your head and worshipping the goddess of the earth!"

"Right, but then I suppose it will be fun and if it’s not I can always escape to fantasy lands!" I said and Heather cleared her throat loudly.

"If escaping to fantasy lands means escaping with shirtless fae into creepy woods while they do unspeakable things to you, then I’m afraid that will be a tad difficult!"

"I have no idea what you mean!"

Heather shot me a pointed look. "Oh really? Well then let me make it simple for you. Since the whole of mount Callum is about purity then you should know that no dirty books are allowed!"

"Okay Heather first of all, they are not dirty!" I argued to which Heather arched a brow at even Eddie gave me a look, "Okay fine, are they a little descriptive, yes_"

"Some might say it’s a little too descriptive!" Eddie muttered under his breath thinking I wouldn’t hear him but I did which was why I glared at him.

"They are simply romance books okay and they should be allowed in!"

Heather was already done packing and she didn’t pack my books. She zipped up my bag and signaled to Eddie to take it to the carriage.

"You are going to be fine not reading for a couple weeks!"

"I absolutely will not!" I protested.

"Well then you will just have to make do with the situation!" Heather stated as she turned and left the bedroom with Eddie.

I followed them with a look of disbelief on my face as Heather went on and on about purity, meditating and ’Cleansing the souls of earthly attachments!’ whatever the seven hells she meant by that statement!

With my books making loud taps on the shiny floor, I continued to yell at Heather to pack my books but she wasn’t having it but I wasn’t about to back down either.

I followed after her, still demanding she pack my books and I was still grumbling about it when I turned to a corner in the living room where Reagan was busy arching a brow up at me.

Heather immediately saw Reagan’s appearance as an opportunity. She slipped outside but not before she turned around and stuck out her tongue and you would have thought she was in her teen years instead of being in her youthful days.

"Traitor!" I mumbled to myself but Heather seemed to have heard me because she turned to give me a smug little wave as she went outside and I swear I heard her humming a hymn specifically just to irk me.

Reagan watched the whole thing with a look of amusement on his face with his arms crossed across his chest. Although that eyebrow of his was still raised up like he was waiting for me to explain or maybe judging me, I really can’t tell or actually care for it right now.

I stopped in my tracks, trying to smooth out my expression from "whiny book deprived lunatic" to "totally well put together lady of the house".

I failed miserably.

"Heather won’t allow me to bring my romance novels along!" I whined restraining from stomping my feet like a child that didn’t have his way. "Obviously mount Callum is allergic to anything even remotely fun!"

Reagan’s lips twitched a little as he stared down at me. "Novels?" He asked tilting his head, "Ah, I see you mean those books where the knight removed his armor in a very graphic detail for three whole pages?"

Oh for fuck’s sake! I groaned as I facepalmed myself, "It was not three pages and how the hells did you even know about that!"

Reagan shrugged at me, "I might have glanced over one!" He replied me nonchalantly and I groaned again. "I mean if I remember correctly there was also an entire paragraph spent discussing how huge the knight was and how the damsel couldn’t even wrap her hands around it, it’s quite astonishing to be honest and I’m also curious because how did he get it to slide inside her if she couldn’t wrap her hands around it..."

"Okay!"

"I mean I didn’t know you were into that kind of thing!"

"Oh for the love of the gods above please stop!"

"Wait if you like books like that? Does that mean you think I’m small?"

"OKAY ENOUGH!" I yelled loudly causing Reagan to laugh loudly and I had to hide my face in my palm.

Reagan laughed out loud, one hand braced on the back of a chair as he doubled over, laughing at my embarrassment.

My cheeks felt hot, as if they were on fire and Reagan continued to laugh while I just stood there mortified that he had chosen to read that particular page off my book.

I guess next time I neee to start watching where I place them from now on!

"This isn’t fair!" I muttered as I stared up at him with a look of wariness.

Reagan waved at me, "Oh come on, I was just curious by asking a perfectly reasonable question!"

I rolled my eyes at him, "You know what? Do me a favor when you see my book laying around, do not read it!" I said with a scowl at my face.

"It’s a romance book is it not, I was just hoping I could learn one or two about it being so romantic. Just didn’t expect it to be so detailed!" He said with his brows pulled deep in thought.

"Ugh! I hate you!" I groaned and Reagan just laughed as he approached me and I glared up at him but he just pulled me in for a hug kissing the top of my head.

"Gods, I am going to miss you!" Reagan said and it was only then did I relax and wrap my hands around him.

"I am going to miss you too!" I responded while hugging Reagan who lifted my face and then placed a kiss on my lips.

I pulled his head lower to mine so I could kiss him deeply but before we could kiss again, there was a knock on the door, probably Heather.

I groaned as I glared at the door but Reagan just laughed and escorted me out of the house. I saw Nikolai and Ivana were already waiting right on their horses and all I could do was just smile at Ivana.

Reagan pulled me close to him again. "Stay out of trouble!"

"I thought you were going to tell me you love me."

"Figured that one was more important."

Rolling my eyes I shoved him away but he grabbed me again.

"I love you!" He said before he yanked me in and pulled me on for a hug.

" I love you and I’ll miss you!" I said hugging him fiercely.

"Me too Dahlia, me too!"
