THE Knight's Hidden Princess -
Chapter 129: The Secret Exposed
Chapter 129: The Secret Exposed
The carriage rolled smoothly on the way to my father’s estate but the tension inside was anything but calm. Lady Ivana sat opposite me with a smile on her face, her gaze fixed on the passing scenery. I stared at her trying to wonder what her deal was but Ivana was a complicated woman, she was just as dangerous to. But what really bothered me in all of this was the fact that she knew who I was besides just a princess and before I had a chance to confront her she was already inside leaving me stunned and wondering how she knew.
So in order not to arouse suspicion, I followed her quietly inside the carriage while Nikolai and Eddie escorted us. But ever since we got into the carriage, she has remained quiet. Watching every scenery outside the window like a child who had never been outside and was just seeing the outside world for the very first time.
Her silence was starting to get on my nerves though, I needed her to tell me how she knew about my identity considering I had never seen her before until Reagan threw that party and now somehow, someway, she knew all about what I am. I wanted to hear how right now.
I cleared my throat bringing my attention to myself. Ivana turned to look at me, slowly appraising me with her eyes, still smiling she turned to look out the window, apparently finding it more interesting than me.
"What’s wrong Dahlia, you look a wee bit tense." She stated.
Tense? That little bi_
I took a deep breath to calm myself down. "You know who I am."
"What? The bla_"
"Not in here!" I snapped at her in anger.
Ivana turned to look behind the carriage where the coachman was riding. A sly smile slipped on her face as she crooned. "Oh that’s right, it’s our secret."
I frowned a little at her. "There’s no our!"
"Pretty sure there will be soon." Ivana winked at me and I wondered for a minute if she hit her head on the way to this place.
Deciding I had enough of her games already, I turned to look at her with a serious look on my face. "What do you want Ivana?"
"What makes you think I want something?" Ivana blinked at me, although there was something calculative in her gaze.
"Ivana, I have known you for only some days and you want to know what I have learnt about you?"
Ivana grinned at me as she snapped her fan. "That I am a force to be reckoned with?"
"That you are a cunning manipulative bitch who always wants something."
"Oh darling, please you flatter me!" Ivana fanned herself.
Rolling my eyes, I turned to look at her. "If you know what I am, then you know I have the power to wipe out your existence, so why don’t you cut to the chase and tell me exactly what it is you want."
Ivana stared at me for a bit, smiling at me for a minute before she huffed out a breath. Rolling her eyes she turned to look at me with a look of seriousness on her face. "You are absolutely right. I do want something from you and I always get what I want!"
"Sure anything to get you to keep your mouth shut because that’s the point right?"
"Exactly."
"Then tell me exactly what it is you want?"
"I want you to kill my husband."
The silence that followed right afterwards was deafening. I waited for the laughter, the smirk, the witty remarks, anything but Ivana just stared at me without any smile on her face and there was also something in her eyes, something cold and so detached, like she wasn’t here anymore.
"Your husband?" I asked just to be sure, "And your husband is..."
"Lord Skarde!" Ivana finished for me, "Yes and I want you to kill him!"
My gaze snapped towards were the coachman was but I knew he couldn’t hear the conversation but still, it was better to be cautious. "You want me to kill your husband?"
"I didn’t stutter, did I?" Ivana snapped at me and I arched a brow up at her in response.
"Well forgive me Lady Ivana but it’s not every day you meet a woman who wants another woman to kill I husband!" I said with a look of disbelief on my face.
Ivana shrugged at me, "Well it’s not you per say, it’s the other you. I mean that’s what she does right?"
I gaped at her because I was shocked at hers statement. "No!" I yelled at her unable to help myself, "That isn’t what she does at all and what is it with you people asking me to kill someone? I am not a bloody assassin!"
"I really don’t care at all to be honest." Ivana said with a shrug, "I just want you to get the job done?"
A laugh bubbled out of me at the audacity. "A job? Really? That’s what we are going to call it now, a job?"
"Yes, kill my husband, get the job done and I will keep your secret." Ivana said as if it wasn’t that big of a deal.
Except it was actually that big of a deal.
There was just a lot going through my mind right now but what tops it is the question how on earth did she find out? The only person who knew was Heather and Reagan and I doubt if any of them would spill the secret to someone like Ivana.
I was really curious as to how she found out but what I was more curious about is why she would ask me to kill her husband. I mean sure Lord Skarde was on the list of people I detest because of their corruption in the kingdom but I do not think he warrants killing.
"Listen Ivana, you don’t know what you ask of me?"
"Do not speak to me like a child!" Ivana hissed at me, although a clam look settled on her face.
I drew in a deep breath as I stared at her. "Fine then, I will speak to you like an adult." I replied, "It is quite foolish of you to assume you could use that secret to threaten me. You are alone in a carriage with me, no one around us for miles except just a few witnesses and you think you can threaten me with something like that? Are you stupid or is your head so far up in the clouds that you have forgotten who the fuck you are dealing with?"
Ivana’s face grew a little bit pale, the confidence she felt earlier slowly disappearing. "Fine, then if you can’t kill him. I want you to save me." She deadpanned and before I could ask what was happening, she loosened the collar of her dress and grabbing the neckline, she pulled it, exposing her chest and I opened my mouth at the horror that was exposed to me.
