THE Knight's Hidden Princess
Chapter 121: False Confessions

Chapter 121: False Confessions

REAGAN POV

I walked down the hallway two of my guards following after me and Nikolai and Miguel following closely after. I walked as I could towards the dungeon, ignoring the surprised look of servants and the guards. I pushed myself to walk even faster heading straight towards the one place I never thought she would be.

Immediately I heard the news, I came as fast as I could because I refused to believe what I heard about Dahlia. Miguel was the one who was the one who had informed me through a letter and the next day I had grabbed my horse and left, not caring if I didn’t get the job done.

Dahlia wouldn’t do such a thing, especially not after she had told me her father’s instructions about it and if she had wanted to follow through with it, she wouldn’t have told me. Besides I know my wife, she wouldn’t do something like that, at least not without a reason.

Immediately I rounded up the corner of the hallway, I was met with Celeste and my mother along with Adrianna, both of them holding each other as Celeste wailed. Immediately she saw me, she wailed even louder and ran forward flinging herself into my arms.

"Oh great!" I heard Nikolai mutter with undeniable sarcasm.

I stiffened as Celeste wrapped her arms around me, clinging onto my shirt as she sobbed. I hesitated for a bit before I pat her awkwardly on her back.

Celeste continued to cling to me, shivering with more sobs than necessary. With every moment wasted here I was already in a foul mood, I really have somewhere to be at this moment but I remained there, allowing her to cry.

Adrianne ran forward to comfort Celeste with soothing strokes on her back and I looked at my mother only to find her watching with an unreadable expression on her face that only her knows what it means.

Celeste hiccyped as she pulled back to look at me a little bit, "Oh Reagan, I was afraid." She breathed out and I tried not to cringe at the way she said my name. "I was so scared I thought I would die! I just can’t believe it happened!" She said falling towards me again and I had no choice than to hug her.

Oh gods above give me patience! I thought to myself before I turned to look at Nikolai. "Please go and get Dahlia out."

"With pleasure!" Nikolai muttered under his breath as he walked forward but before he could take another step my mother stopped him.

"Do not even think about it soldier!" My mother fixed Nikolai with a leveling glare, "No one is going to visit the prisoner!"

The prisoner? I turned to look at my mother. "A prisoner? That is my wife and she is not a prisoner."

"I’m afraid to tell you that as from yesterday, she has become a prisoner!"

"Says who?" I demanded harshly.

Celeste sniffed as she looked up at me, "She tried to kill me! Dahlia, she came into my room and tried to kill me!"

"Well you look just fine for someone they tried to kill." I said to Celeste whose eyes widened.

Celeste offered me a wry smile before she nodded her head in response. "You are right, I look just fine but there is something you should know." She said before she moved backwards and took off her robe, exposing her night gown.

Everything looked normal except for the small blotch of blood on the abdomen area. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make my stomach tighten and I arched a brow up at her. "What this supposed to be?"

"I lost the baby my lord." Celeste’s voice cracked as she spoke, "Our baby is gone my lord!" Celeste broke down in a sob and my mother moved forward to go and hug her, comforting Celeste who wailed loudly.

Something doesn’t add up here! I thought to myself as I made a move to step forward but my mother rushed towards me. "If you think you are going to see the prisoner, then I suggest you don’t bother!"

"She’s my wife mother, not a prisoner!" I stated, my voice rising with anger.

"The only time you can see her is at the trail..."

"Trial?" I asked with disbelief before I growled out in frustration. "I am going to see my wife and before you say anything else, I am only going to say this once, move!" I snarled at my mother who looked at me, more like glared at me like she wanted to fight me but even her knew better than to fuck with me when I was like this.

There’s no way anyone will stand in my way to see Dahlia and I don’t care if she did truly break into Celeste’s room or even tried to kill her, I wasn’t going to believe anything until I speak with Dahlia myself.

My mother’s lips pressed into a thin line but she didn’t move, she just stepped closer towards me. "Listen to me Reagan, I..."

"Now mother!" I snarled at her.

Everyone immediately got quiet, the entire hallway was dense with a strange silence and then swallowing she moved out of the way along with Celeste who watched me with wide fearful eyes. With a s harp intake of breath, my mother stepped aside allowing me to do what I want.

I didn’t bother to hear from her anymore, I wasted no time in walking towards the dungeons, my boots echoing the hallways as I neared the dungeon where they jailed individuals, a place my wife didn’t belong.

As I got closer to the dungeon, the air reeked of damp stone and cold iron, the torches guttering weakly against the crushing darkness. I made my way towards the sturdy iron doors with a stern look on my face.

My wife was in there, wrongly accused and jailed with the rest of the criminals. This was something that I am not going to stand for at all. Immediately the guards saw me, they straightened at my approach, bowing their heads in respect but I had no time to acknowledge it.

"Open it!" I ordered firmly.

One of them hesitated, sharing a look with the other one as he turned to stare back at me. "Forgive me my lord but our orders were to..."

"If you know what’s good for you mate, you are going to open that door." Nikolai who had been following me quietly said, "Trust me, you do not want to deny his order!"

Immediately he heard that the guard fumbled around with the keys, the metal clinking shattering the silence and then the iron door groaned open. I rushed inside, looking through prison cells before I finally found my wife perched on a cold stone ground.

Rusting chains were used to bind her wrist and her head was bent. Her dark hair hung in tangled in waves around her face. Seeming to sense my presence, Dahlia stared up at me and I was a little taken aback at the defiance in her eyes.

I could feel something knot in my chest as I stared at her, "Oh Dahlia." I breathed out.

Dahlia stared at me before she heaved out a sigh. "I did it." She confessed, "I attacked Celeste."

"Are you okay?" I whispered as I moved closer towards the cell.

Dahlia’s gaze faltered for a moment before she cocked her head at me. "I just confessed a crime and you are worried about me?"

I stared at Dahlia, at the bruises marking her face and the small tear in her night gown. Obvious signs that she had been in a scuffle with someone, so she wasn’t the one who had attacked Celeste, it had been someone else and she protected Celeste, except that wasn’t the only person she was protecting.

Instead of asking her for answers like I initially wanted to, I turned to look at the guard who was busy watching us with a wary expression on his face. I stretched my hands towards him, "Give me the key!"

The guard didn’t bother to ask questions, just offered me the key. Dahlia watched me with a wary expression as I unlocked the door to her cell. I entered inside and I moved to unlock the chains around her wrist too.

"Reagan what are you doing?" Dahlia asked me, "Didn’t you hear a word I just said? I attacked Celeste, I tried to kill her and I would have if she hadn’t woken up!"

"You can save the false confessions for later." I mumbled as I threw away the chains, "I already know it’s not you."

Dahlia’s gaze swirled with something but my stubborn wife quickly masked it, lifting her chin she glared up at me. "And what is it you know about me?"

"For starters, I know that you missed me as much as I missed you!"

"What the hells are you..." Dahlia tried to say but I grabbed her by the waist and silenced her with a kiss.
