The King of Urban Mercenaries -
Chapter 25 - 25 25 Malicious Pleasure
25: Chapter 25: Malicious Pleasure 25: Chapter 25: Malicious Pleasure “Mr.
Lin, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now.”
Mu Shanshan, though cold, was undeniably efficient at getting things done.
Lin Fei had initially thought he would have to stay at the police station for a while.
However, barely an hour after Lin Fei and Xu Yingying were taken to the police station, people sent by Mu Shanshan arrived.
There were two people sent by Mu Shanshan, one was her secretary Shen Xuan, and the other was the chief lawyer from the legal department of Mu Group.
“Take care, and there’s no need to see you out.”
Lin Fei waved his hand and watched the lawyer leave.
“Someone made the effort to come all the way here for you; you should at least thank them.”
The delicate and petite Shen Xuan couldn’t help but give Lin Fei a disapproving look.
“You all came at the worst possible time.”
This was truly what Lin Fei felt in his heart.
Shen Xuan and the other had chosen to come just as Chen Qi had provoked him severely, and he was about to let off steam with a woman.
Lin Fei now regretted it, very, very much.
He had originally called Mu Shanshan because he was worried that Chen Qi would mix personal grievances with official duties and detain him for ten days or half a month.
If he had known this would happen, he wouldn’t have called Mu Shanshan at any cost.
As for Xu Yingying and the others, the police didn’t intend to make it difficult for them, and after taking their statements, allowed them to leave.
However, the blond man and others received special treatment from the police.
Shen Xuan, unhappy with Lin Fei’s attitude, stomped her foot in annoyance.
“Do you think we wanted to come?
If it weren’t for President Su’s call, do you think we would bother coming to the police station in the middle of the night?”
“I didn’t say you shouldn’t come, just that it would have been better if you’d come a bit later.”
This situation really wasn’t the fault of Shen Xuan and the other.
Lin Fei was just frustrated and in a bad mood.
Faced with this situation, there wasn’t much he could explain to Shen Xuan, so after a brief word, Lin Fei turned and left.
Lin Fei didn’t dare linger at the entrance of the police station.
He had nearly dealt with Chen Qi in the interrogation room, and the woman hadn’t completely recovered yet.
If Chen Qi had fully regained her senses, Lin Fei would not have been able to leave so easily.
Watching Lin Fei’s retreating figure, a contemplative expression crossed Shen Xuan’s eyes.
Shen Xuan had earned her position as the president’s secretary with outstanding perceptiveness and judgment.
Having met Lin Fei twice under circumstances involving Mu Shanshan, a man who warranted a personal call from the president of Mu Group in the middle of the night, Shen Xuan could definitely sense something special about Lin Fei’s identity.
Shen Xuan was curious about Lin Fei’s identity, and she was almost certain that there was some connection between Lin Fei and Mu Shanshan.
Yet, Shen Xuan did not ask Lin Fei about it, because she knew her place.
As the president’s secretary, Shen Xuan clearly understood what should and shouldn’t be asked.
This was also the reason why Mu Shanshan had chosen to call Shen Xuan and ask her to arrange for Lin Fei’s bail.
…
At the Purple Garden Pavilion villa, by the time Lin Fei arrived, it was already past ten at night.
“Wife, you haven’t gone to bed yet?”
Lin Fei was surprised; it was so late, and he had thought Mu Shanshan would definitely be asleep.
Instead, she was sitting elegantly on the sofa watching TV.
Seeing Lin Fei walk in, Mu Shanshan turned off the TV and nodded, signaling him to sit on the sofa opposite her.
“Is she waiting for me?
Could it be that she wants to take me to task?”
Without betraying any emotion, Lin Fei walked over and sat down on the sofa across from Mu Shanshan, feeling quite astonished inside.
Mu Shanshan had shown her disdain for him for not just a day or two.
Now that he had been caught red-handed by her, there was a chance she might take this opportunity to make a big deal out of it.
“Shen Xuan has already briefed me about the situation, do you have anything to add?”
The voice was as cold as ever, showing no emotional change despite Lin Fei’s actions.
“What do you want me to add?”
Lin Fei had long been used to Mu Shanshan’s tone.
What really interested him now was the fair ketone body concealed beneath her silk nightgown.
Initially, Lin Fei deeply disliked this accusatory way of speaking that Mu Shanshan used.
However, once Lin Fei’s gaze shifted to her attire, he found himself wishing this conversation would last a little longer.
Bang!
“Have you had enough?!”
Mu Shanshan’s cold tone clearly carried a few threads of anger.
“Not quite.” Seeing that the woman was about to explode, Lin Fei hastly shifted his gaze away, “I can always look again next time, what were you saying?”
Mu Shanshan was furious.
She truly wished she could punch Lin Fei right in his eyes—his gaze was so lecherous.
“Can’t you be serious for even a minute?”
Mu Shanshan suddenly regretted quite a few things—she thought it was a mistake to have Lin Fei released from the police station over a phone call, and even more of a mistake to let him move in to live with her in the Purple Garden Pavilion.
“If I became serious, would you fall in love with me?”
“You’re dreaming!”
“So it’s settled, whether I’m serious or not, you’re not going to fall in love with me.
Why should I pretend and make myself miserable?
You should be glad that the man you married is me.
I’ll only feast my eyes at most.
If it were another man, do you think they could restrain themselves for months without laying a finger on you?”
Lin Fei crossed his legs, putting on an air as if he was the good guy she should be grateful for.
Mu Shanshan’s beautiful eyes coldly watched Lin Fei.
Although she was really annoyed by Lin Fei’s flippant attitude, she couldn’t deny the truth in his words.
Mu Shanshan was fully aware of her own charm—the fervor and aggression in the gazes of the men around her were not lost on her.
And that was indeed a major reason why Mu Shanshan could tolerate Lin Fei’s presence and let him live in the villa.
Thinking this, the look Mu Shanshan gave Lin Fei, although still chilly, revealed a hint of something different upon closer inspection.
“What’s with that look?!” The subtle change in Mu Shanshan’s expression didn’t escape Lin Fei’s eyes.
Such minor changes were usually imperceptible, but one shouldn’t forget that Lin Fei’s roving eyes, unabashedly admiring the woman’s beauty, didn’t miss much.
Mu Shanshan’s brows furrowed slightly, unsure what new nonsense Lin Fei was up to.
But to Lin Fei, the slight furrow of her brows seemed to confirm his suspicion.
“Don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking.
You must be assuming that since I haven’t touched you for so long after our marriage, there must be something wrong with me, right?!”
This statement nearly exhausted all of Mu Shanshan’s energy.
Lin Fei’s series of actions were completely beyond Mu Shanshan’s expectations or, rather, beyond what she could comprehend.
Although Mu Shanshan initially sensed Lin Fei’s abnormity, she could never have imagined it would reach such an extreme level!
At first, mentioning these past months of non-activity, Mu Shanshan could almost appreciate a good aspect of Lin Fei.
But before she could fully digest this virtue of his, Lin Fei suddenly pulled such a stunt, and even with Mu Shanshan’s strong mental resilience honed through years in the business world, she nearly fainted from his audacity.
If possible, Mu Shanshan would pay any price, other than herself, to have Lin Fei keep his mouth shut just now.
Unfortunately, such a deal clearly didn’t exist in the world, and Mu Shanshan’s heart was destined to endure a severe test tonight.
