Chapter 22 - 22 22 Drinking Wine as if Drinking Water

22: Chapter 22 Drinking Wine as if Drinking Water 22: Chapter 22 Drinking Wine as if Drinking Water Lin Fei had just finished speaking when Xu Yingying and Xu Jiao burst into fits of laughter, completely unconcerned about their image, while Yu Haoming’s face turned utterly dark, as black as the bottom of a pot.

The bar staff found it funny, too.

In the bar, one could meet all kinds of patrons, but this was the first time a waiter had encountered someone like Lin Fei who requested milk.

Of course, there had been customers who ordered milk before.

But Lin Fei’s request was to serve a glass of milk for Yu Haoming, even though there was no three-year-old child present.

Everyone knew exactly what Lin Fei meant.

The young waiter in uniform glanced at Yu Haoming and said to Lin Fei with a smile, “Sorry, sir, but we don’t serve baby formula here.”

“We don’t serve baby formula…”

The professional response from the young waiter inadvertently delivered a perfect additional stab, causing Xu Yingying and Xu Jiao to laugh so hard they were nearly out of breath.

Yu Haoming’s face became even more blackened, his eyes glaring so fiercely at Lin Fei that it seemed almost fiery!

Encountering such a perfectly sharp-witted waiter, Lin Fei was also amused.

He pulled out several hundred-dollar bills and handed them to the bar staff, “Then give him a glass of milk tea instead, and keep the change as a tip.”

Lin Fei silently added in his heart, considering it a tip for the perfect assist.

He didn’t say this out loud; if he had, he worried that given Yu Haoming’s still immature temperament, the possibility of him spitting blood would be rather high.

Although Yu Haoming had wanted to embarrass Lin Fei earlier, Lin Fei clearly wasn’t planning to take it seriously.

Lin Fei had also been impetuous in his youth, and he naturally understood the psyche of boys this age.

For the most part, they were good at heart, but sometimes impulsive due to pride or girls they liked.

Now, Yu Haoming was obviously in such a state, and Lin Fei had also been there at that age.

“Hold on, I don’t want juice; I want alcohol, uncle.”

Just as the bar staff was about to leave with the money, Xu Yingying, trying hard to suppress her laughter, clung to Lin Fei’s arm and cooed.

Xu Jiao followed suit, hugging Lin Fei’s other arm, and said while swaying, “Uncle, I don’t want juice either.”

“Change their juices to cocktails, then.”

The alcohol content of cocktails was lower, so one drink wouldn’t be much of a problem.

Yu Haoming had calmed down by now, and the guy did live up to the little suit he was wearing.

Instead of throwing a tantrum and rushing up to challenge Lin Fei with fist and foot, he called over the bar staff, whispered something, and then pulled out a wad of hundred-dollar bills to give to the waiter.

“Yu Haoming, weren’t you going clubbing?

Why aren’t you leaving?”

Xu Yingying had finally gotten hold of Lin Fei, originally wanting to spend some time alone with him.

Xu Jiao’s interference was bothersome enough, considering they were rivals.

Now, Yu Haoming also seemed intent on staying, which Xu Yingying was not happy about.

Yu Haoming sat with a couple of his lackeys at a side table, glancing sidelong at Lin Fei, “If you guys don’t go, it wouldn’t be fun for me to go alone.

I’m a bit thirsty anyway, I’ll take a break and we can talk later.”

“You’re really planning to drink milk?”

Xu Yingying had no regard for Yu Haoming’s pride, turning his face into an alternating pattern of black and white with her comment.

“Okay, okay, you guys go do whatever you want, but remember one thing: no fighting and no bickering.

Otherwise, I’ll throw both of you out of the bar right now.”

Seeing that the two girls looked ready to start arguing again, Lin Fei had no choice but to abandon the idea of sending them away.

At the same time, he glanced at Yu Haoming with a bit of sympathy – it’s not that I won’t help you, but you see, they refuse to leave.

Yu Haoming, of course, didn’t know what Lin Fei was thinking—he thought Lin Fei was showing off to him.

His fists clenched subconsciously, and his eyes started glaring daggers at Lin Fei once again.

Just then, several bar staff approached with trays of drinks.

Upon inspection, there were over a dozen glasses of whiskey, and…

milk tea.

“I didn’t order this many, did I?”

As the staff set the whiskey glasses before him, Lin Fei spoke with a hint of surprise.

He had only ordered one whiskey and two cocktails.

“It was me.”

As Lin Fei wondered whether the bar was running some promotion, Yu Haoming approached with a glass of milk tea in hand and a smug look, “We’re all still in school, and it’s against the rules for us to drink.

But that’s not the case for you, uncle.

How can you come to a bar and not drink a bit more?

I offer my milk tea in place of liquor, to join the uncle in toasting to your heart’s content.”

Yu Haoming finished, smiling broadly, but there was an unmistakable provocation in his eyes.

Before Lin Fei could respond, Xu Yingying stood up, “Yu Haoming, aren’t you a man?!”

“Xu Yingying!

This is between him and me.

I didn’t say he had to drink, and if he’s too scared, he can just refuse,” Yu Haoming replied, a bit annoyed after being scolded by Xu Yingying repeatedly.

Yet, annoyance aside, he hadn’t forgotten to goad Lin Fei.

“You…”

Xu Yingying’s face flushed red, wanting to argue fiercely with Yu Haoming, but was pulled back by Lin Fei, “It’s just drinking, girl, you don’t mistrust me, do you?”

Lin Fei hadn’t expected Yu Haoming to pull such a trick, but it played right into his hands.

If someone was offering drinks, why not enjoy it?

“Here’s the deal, you drink a cup of milk tea, and I’ll drink a cup of alcohol.

Whoever can’t continue drinking first, will have to find a way to cheer up these two girls, alright?”

Lin Fei was actually considering Yu Haoming’s predicament, thinking: Kid, this is as much as I can help you, you’re on your own now.

Yu Haoming, thinking he had the upper hand and fearing Lin Fei might back out, tilted his head back and drained his milk tea.

Lin Fei then picked up a glass of whiskey from the table and downed it.

And so, they took turns drinking, and before long each had consumed five or six glasses.

“Uncle, can you handle it?”

Xu Yingying leaned close to Lin Fei and whispered.

Lin Fei couldn’t help but roll his eyes and gave Xu Yingying a fierce knock on the head.

No kidding, his alcohol tolerance was forged through countless experiences.

A few glasses of whiskey were nothing; even several bottles of white liquor wouldn’t get him drunk.

For someone like Lin Fei, who often skirted on the edge of life and death, alcohol was their best companion.

“I can’t, I can’t, I admit defeat, I admit defeat…”

A dozen minutes later, Yu Haoming was completely wilted, and not just him, his two sidekicks were done too.

Yu Haoming had started off confident, but after seven or eight cups of milk tea, he couldn’t handle it anymore.

With Lin Fei’s nod, Yu Haoming’s two sidekicks also joined the fray.

It was proved that three fools are no match for a Zhuge Liang.

Under the might of Lin Fei’s stomach that seemed to consider whiskey as water, the three men conceded in despair.

“It would have been better to admit defeat earlier; drinking too much milk tea isn’t pleasant either.”

Lin Fei said this while picking up another glass of whiskey, which was the last one.

After finishing it, he was ready to leave.

“Uncle, is your stomach made of steel or something?”

Xu Yingying poked Lin Fei’s belly curiously, her words almost made him spit out the whiskey he had just sipped.

As for Xu Jiao, she looked at Lin Fei with admiration, her eyes filled with stars.

Initially, the girl snuggled up to Lin Fei to irritate Xu Yingying.

Now, Xu Jiao genuinely wanted to stick by Lin Fei’s side.

Had she not tasted the whiskey herself, she might have doubted that Lin Fei was really drinking anything but water.

Girls are inherently simple-minded; Lin Fei’s nonchalant way of drinking had thoroughly piqued their curiosity and admiration.

“Fellas, having quite the blast here, eh?

Mind if we join in?”

Just as Lin Fei was considering whether to go to the restroom first, a few youths with dyed hair and earrings came over, holding drinks in what seemed to express a mischievous demeanor.

“We don’t even know you, why would we let you join us?”

“Right, this bar is so big, why don’t you find someone else to drink with?

Can’t you see we’ve already had so much?”

Xu Yingying and Xu Jiao tried various ways to shoo away the uninvited youngsters.

Although the girls were dressed extravagantly, they were still students at heart, instinctively repelled by these small-time thugs.

“We’re strangers only once, and friends the second time, right?

Try some of this; it’s guaranteed to taste better than your milk tea.

After one glass, you’ll want another and forget about milk tea for the rest of your life.”

One of the youths with yellow-dyed hair pinched out some white powder from his companion, sprinkling it into the drink.

He shook the cup and approached Xu Yingying and Xu Jiao.

“Didn’t you hear them?

We’ve had enough.

Please leave.”

Yu Haoming, showing some courage, stood up in front of the two girls.

“Kid, fuck off to the side, this doesn’t concern you.”

The yellow-haired youth kicked Yu Haoming to the ground.

Yu Haoming’s two sidekicks hid and did not dare to come forward, one of them shaking in fear.

“Ladies, we mean no harm, we just want to make friends.

You look new here; this is your first time, huh?

Have this drink, and we’ll be friends.

Come here to play in the future, and we’ll look after you, ensuring no one causes you trouble.”

The yellow-haired youth, with a sleazy smile on his face, kicked Yu Haoming aside and approached Xu Yingying and Xu Jiao.

“I have no interest in being friends with you.”

“Me neither.”

“You should appreciate the offer.

Today, whether you like it or not, you’ll have to drink.”

With that, the yellow-haired young man waved his hand, and his followers jumped forward, clearly preparing to force Xu Yingying and Xu Jiao to drink.

“To offer a drink to someone, shouldn’t you drink it first as a mark of respect?”

Lin Fei swiftly stepped in front of the yellow-haired man and Xu Yingying and Xu Jiao, seizing the wrist of the man holding the drink.
