Chapter 80: Chapter 80: Who Stole My Summoning Device?
The Shang Army celebrated a major victory, while the Zhou Army suffered losses in soldiers and generals, retreating a hundred miles.
Meanwhile, the two brothers were crouched in their camp, studying the Purple Ribbon Immortal Armor.
"Purple Ribbon Armor, combine!"
Yin Hong struck another pose: "Combine!"
Unfortunately, there was no response. He reluctantly placed the summoning device on the table.
Yin Jiao glanced at the summoning device on the table and said, "Could it be that the Sky Flipping Seal’s power was just too overwhelming and broke it?"
The two brothers sighed helplessly after exchanging a glance—they had no idea how to fix it!
...
On the Zhou side, Huang Long, Huang Tianhua, and Yang Ren were lying neatly side by side.
Meanwhile, Jiang Ziya had already dispatched Yang Jian to Yuxu Palace to seek assistance from his two senior brothers, Guang Chengzi and Chi Jingzi. Your disciples and your own affairs—you handle them yourself!
We really can’t do anything about it.
Accompanying him was Lei Zhenzi, who was eager to ask his master for a flashy set of armor. Since everyone else had such stylish armor, Lei Zhenzi thought, "I absolutely must have one as well, and it must be even cooler!"
The next day, Yin Hong and Yin Jiao led the Shang Army in a direct assault on the Zhou camp. An intense battle broke out, causing significant losses to the Zhou Army. The magical treasures of Yin Hong and Yin Jiao proved overwhelmingly powerful, with the support of various Independent Immortals on their side.
Although the Chan Sect disciples were of high caliber, even the best warriors couldn’t fight off an endless tide of enemies. They suffered one defeat after another, losing many soldiers and generals, forcing them to retreat to Jiepai Pass. The tide of the battlefield had shifted dramatically.
However, the first to arrive was not Guang Chengzi or Chi Jingzi, but the Fude Golden Immortal Yun Zhongzi.
Yun Zhongzi was particularly concerned about his greatest masterpiece, the Purple Ribbon Immortal Armor. He had built some mechanisms into the armor himself, and when the summoning device was damaged, he immediately sensed it.
He rode his cloud straight to the scene, curious to see which of the Jie Sect’s magical treasures had been powerful enough to destroy his creation.
Yun Zhongzi was acquainted with Jiang Ziya. Back when Old Jiang had died for the first time, it was Yun Zhongzi who had carried his soul back to Yuxu Palace.
As Jiang Ziya narrated the events, he guided Yun Zhongzi to the three who were lying prone, knowing that when it came to refining magical treasures, Yun Zhongzi was the absolute expert. This might be their only hope for salvaging the situation.
Upon learning that his Purple Ribbon Immortal Armor had been broken by the Sky Flipping Seal, Yun Zhongzi expressed his understanding. That magical treasure had been forged from a massive fragment of Buzhou Mountain and personally refined by his teacher. Although it was an Acquired Spiritual Treasure, it rivaled many of the strongest Innate Spiritual Treasures.
He first examined his disciple, Yang Ren, whose condition was quite severe. Yun Zhongzi administered a single elixir and then took out a gourd to extract three drops of Soul Nourishing Liquid.
As for Huang Long and Huang Tianhua, Yun Zhongzi remarked, "Ah, Chi Jingzi’s Yin Yang Mirror? I’m quite familiar with that!"
"In fact, I’ve even got a knockoff version here!"
"No need to worry about them. Once Senior Brother Chi Jingzi arrives, he can reclaim the Yin Yang Mirror and shine its light on them. That’ll set everything right."
With the Shang Army pressing in, Yun Zhongzi had no intention of intervening now. If he resolved the issue here, his two senior brothers would make a wasted trip, and that would be rather awkward, wouldn’t it?
As for why he lingered here:
First, he wanted to monitor Yang Ren’s recovery. After all, Yang Ren was nominally his disciple.
Second, he intended to retrieve the summoning device of the armor. That item had been crafted with expensive materials; he could take it back, repair it, and give it back to Yang Ren.
Three days later, Yang Ren awoke. The first thing he did was scream, "Where’s my armor summoning device?!"
The small soldier watching over them was scared out of his wits and quickly went to notify Jiang Ziya.
At that moment, Jiang Ziya was in a meeting. Upon hearing the news, he immediately rushed over with a group of people.
The moment Jiang Ziya opened the door and stepped inside, he saw Yang Ren jump high into the air and yell, "Ultraman Flying Kick!"
With one kick, he sent the other armored soldier on guard tumbling before climbing on top of him and pummeling him like Wu Song beating the tiger.
Jiang Ziya immediately shouted, "Yang Ren! What are you doing?!"
Yang Ren froze at the sound of Jiang Ziya and then stopped to bow, saying, "Greetings to the King of Ultraman!"
Jiang Ziya: "???"
"What kind of king is the King of Ultraman? Is this some rare species?"
At this point, Yun Zhongzi coughed awkwardly and stepped forward. "You insolent disciple, do you even recognize me?"
Yang Ren replied matter-of-factly, "Of course I recognize you, Master. You are the emissary of the Holy Mountain, a descendant of the Five Elements Village, and the one who gave me the armor summoning device!"
He then added, "Master, my armor summoning device was stolen by the Netherworld Demons!"
Yun Zhongzi was immediately subjected to strange looks from the other disciples. The statement was wrong... but also not entirely wrong.
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Yun Zhongzi said, "You rebellious disciple, come with me."
He then returned to his own quarters.
Yang Ren obediently followed Yun Zhongzi, bowing to everyone present as he left. "King of Ultraman, esteemed Ultraman brothers, I will follow my master now!"
This guy was surprisingly polite!
The numerous Chan Sect disciples were left with a collective cloud of confusion hovering over their heads. Ultraman? Netherworld Demons? What were these things?
Jiang Ziya didn’t understand it either, but he surmised that Yang Ren’s brain had been damaged. He explained, "My Nephew Yang suffered a head injury from a magical treasure recently and... well, he’s probably not fully coherent yet."
Yang Jian and the others stifled their laughter, agreeing with Old Jiang’s reasoning.
Meanwhile, over in Yun Zhongzi’s quarters, after another inspection of Yang Ren, Yun Zhongzi was left exasperated. Yang Ren’s head had suffered a violent blow, and his Divine Soul had been attacked by the Soul Falling Bell—arguably the two most complex and hardest-to-understand parts of a person.
Now, the results of the examination indicated that Yang Ren was perfectly healthy. How could someone who acted like this possibly be fine?
As for all this business about Ultraman, armor, and Netherworld Demons, it inevitably involved Nezha.
Nezha and Yun Zhongzi often got along well. The two would often chat while studying magical treasures. Nezha, unlike most immortals, was a bit like a modern gamer chatting with friends, chattering away incessantly.
What did they talk about? Whatever came to mind at the time!
Back then, the two were studying the armor summoning device, and Nezha casually brought up topics like the mythical version of the Five Elements Village and the Armor Summoners fighting against the Netherworld Demons. Then he also mentioned how Yang Ren resembled an Ultraman and praised Yun Zhongzi for his taste, ultimately steering the conversation toward the M78 Nebula.
Nezha, for the most part, wasn’t paying attention to what he was saying; he was focused on artifact refining. Whatever tangent he went on, he didn’t care much about it himself.
But Yun Zhongzi was different. While he hadn’t heard of the Five Elements Village, the idea of a mythical Five Elements Village in the Primordial Era didn’t strike him as entirely unreasonable.
After all, wasn’t the earliest Witch Clan also just a village?
The more he listened, the more logical it sounded. Thinking about Nezha’s identity, Yun Zhongzi became convinced that this was some ancient secret from the era before he had achieved his transformation.
And how did Nezha know these things? Obviously, it was Lady Nuwa who told him!
In reality, though, at the time, Lady Nuwa had just been listening to tales of Armor Warriors and Ultraman herself. She had even pondered whether the remote Outer Chaos genuinely harbored the M78 Nebula and beings of light.
Taking it a step further, if the Five Elements could serve as the fundamental blocks of a world, could a world be constructed purely from the Light Attribute alone?
She had even used her Creation Dao to mold a set of Five Elements Divine Stones on the spot. However, too lazy to refine them into armor, she renamed them the Five Spirit Beads instead.
Yun Zhongzi knew nothing of Lady Nuwa’s musings, but he had truly begun to believe in their authenticity.
