Chapter 234: Chapter 233: Meeting Goddess Xi He Again

Nezha soared forward, landed on the island, changed into fresh clothes, and thought to himself that he had finally reached his destination.

The temperature on the island dropped suddenly, and Nezha recognized the tree in the distance—it was the Fusang Divine Tree, one of the Ten Great Innate Spiritual Roots.

Nezha unfurled the Mountain and River Map and released the Four Symbols Tower.

The Golden Light Saint Mother within the Four Symbols Tower did not immediately come out, as that would detract from the dignity of an Immortal.

Nezha paid no further attention to the Golden Light Saint Mother and walked to the grand palace before him. The entrance of the palace bore three large characters written in demon script: "Demon Imperial Palace," imposing and awe-inspiring.

The main gate was sealed as well, clearly a precaution left by Di Jun and Taiyi. Even when leaving for a decisive battle, they remembered to lock the door.

Yet the lock looked oddly familiar to Nezha. After taking out the River Map and Luo Book for comparison, he quickly figured out how to open it.

The method of opening wasn’t difficult, but gathering the keys was.

With the River Map, Luo Book, and the Great Sun Golden Flame of the golden crows, Nezha felt for a moment as though this lock had been left behind specifically for him.

Nezha hesitated no longer, enveloped himself in the Great Sun Golden Flame, and stormed inside along with nine "light bulbs."

Given the cultivation of Di Jun and Taiyi, any traps they might leave in their palace could utterly obliterate him, but Nezha didn’t believe that the Sun Star would orchestrate such a grand setup solely to eliminate him.

Am I even worth that much effort?

Moreover, Nezha thought, who would bother setting traps in their own home?

His intuition proved correct; once inside the palace, there were no obstructions whatsoever.

Nezha found the style of the Demon Imperial Palace extremely familiar, as it resembled his own Taiyi Dao Palace closely—but this one was slightly more spacious. Unlike the Taiyi Dao Palace, which had seen some wear and decay, everything here remained majestic and pristine.

Here, Nezha truly felt the grandeur of the Demon Court era. After all, who would carve a massive statue out of hundreds of cubic feet of Innate Fire Essence and place it in the main hall purely for aesthetic purposes?

That single statue could sell for more wealth than ten Huang Long creatures combined, yet even one foot of the statue would be priceless.

While the items were undoubtedly treasures, Nezha refrained from touching them, opting instead to keep walking forward.

After all, Lu Ya had treated him kindly, and Nezha had inherited much of the legacy of the golden crows. To visit someone else’s home and start dismantling and looting—it wasn’t a behavior Nezha could bring himself to exhibit.

The palace complex was vast, yet much of the space was desolate. It seemed likely that when Di Jun and Taiyi left for their final battle, they had emptied out most of their resources.

Following the call he felt, Nezha walked past the opulent architecture and entered a cluster of buildings, their tones shifting to a spectral shade of blue.

He was fairly familiar with the palace’s layout, guessing that this section was likely where Di Jun and his spouse lived, while the adjoining area, painted in fiery red hues, was probably the domain of Taiyi.

The bond between the two brothers was indeed close.

Nezha found this sort of separation understandable; after all, his own teacher had once been active in the Demon Court, and whenever Nezha expressed interest in such matters, Nuwa would casually mention them.

It was said that both the Taiyin and Sun Stars nurtured two Innate Sacred Beings—Taiyi and Di Jun from the Sun Star, and Xi He and Changxi from the Taiyin Star.

Later, Di Jun sought marriage with the Taiyin Goddess Xi He, and also pursued the Goddess Changxi for his brother Taiyi. While he succeeded in his own pursuit, Taiyi, dedicated to cultivation, directly rejected the prospect.

The matter between Taiyi and Changxi was left aside.

Xi He, in order to marry Di Jun, relinquished her dominion over the Taiyin Star, becoming the Demon Queen of Di Jun. However, her Yin attribute made life on the Sun Star an excruciating ordeal.

Di Jun, ever the decisive man, relinquished the origin of his Sun Star to Xi He, transforming her from the Taiyin Goddess into the Sun-controlling Goddess.

They later birthed ten golden crows, distributing much of their power amongst them.

This area was likely designed by Xi He as a result.

Nezha was actually more curious about the living quarters of Taiyi, the formidable man, but the call drew him to the blue-toned region.

He continued moving forward, his figure gradually cloaked in golden radiance, as if time itself were distorting around him.

The previously empty palace began to manifest vivid figures, among them a female immortal clad in crimson robes and a blue crown on her head, surrounded by ten tiny children dressed in golden attire, laughing and chatting.

Nezha glanced at them, then at the nearby nine golden crows. The usually restless golden crow essences now calmly perched in various corners, quietly observing the scene.

As though a mere passerby, Nezha beheld this tender moment, feeling deeply affected. These Innate Great Gods, despite their divine nature, still displayed the human qualities within them.

At this moment, Xi He no longer resembled the vengeful figure seen from Xingtian’s perspective, but rather a gentle, loving mother.

Pursuing the Dao, pursuing the Dao—perhaps it wasn’t about becoming the strongest or controlling everything, but about truly finding one’s own path.

The golden power of time began to dissipate, and the ten small children gradually faded away, leaving only the goddess Xi He, who should have perished long ago.

The goddess, previously unperceivable, now sent away the ten small golden crows before turning to the nine foolish-looking golden crow essences, sighing deeply.

Finally, she directed her gaze toward Nezha.

"You’ve arrived."

Nezha pointed to himself in confusion.

Xi He nodded slightly.

"Senior, aren’t you..."

Before Nezha could finish speaking, Xi He interrupted directly.

"I’m already dead."

Without waiting for more questions, she explained, "As the Sun-controlling Goddess, I could harness a trace of the power of time—this is merely a time projection I left behind prior to the decisive battle."

"As long as I’m here, they won’t disappear."

True to her words, the ten golden crows, who had just left, ran back into the hall from the doorway, shouting for their mother.

Xi He smiled as she comforted her sons, saying, "Do you now understand my state?"

Nezha expressed his understanding—she was a past projection of the Sun-controlling Goddess Xi He at a specific moment in time.

But witnessing this tender scene once was enough; playing it on repeat made it feel increasingly uncanny.

"Senior, why did you summon me here?"

Xi He gently sent off the ten golden crows once more, then raised a hand. The golden space seemed completely frozen in time; the golden crows did not return this time.

"It wasn’t me who called you, but the Sun Star itself."

"The Sun Star, as the right eye of the Pangu God and leader among the Primordial stars, will never remain desolate forever."

Having said this, Xi He spoke no further, but guided Nezha toward another direction.

The nine golden crow essences hid themselves behind Nezha, peeking at the goddess Xi He, radiating a sense of wanting to approach yet not daring to do so. Xi He, meanwhile, disregarded them entirely, as though she couldn’t see them.

Nezha understood to some extent and shared Lu Ya’s sentiment: the burdens of the golden crows had already been borne by someone else, so there was no need to drag them further into despair.

Yet, to be unable to recognize one’s own children face-to-face—it was a cruel thing indeed.

Taken through numerous twists and turns by Xi He, Nezha followed her cluelessly, occasionally asking about the functions of various structures.

Xi He treated him like a promising junior, explaining in detail, although her gaze remained fixed on the golden crow essences trailing behind Nezha.
