Chapter 215: Chapter 214 It’s All Because I’m a Useless Brother
Once Nezha’s Divine Soul finishes receiving and sorting through everything, he will naturally regain consciousness.
Yunxiao hurried along the road, only to run headlong into the approaching Zhao Gongming.
Zhao Gongming didn’t waste time with unnecessary questions or explanations. Upon seeing that his sisters were unharmed, he transformed into a violent gust of wind, sweeping Yunxiao along as they sped towards Golden Turtle Island.
He ran at full tilt, completely ignoring his own injuries.
Arriving at Biyou Palace, he reverted to human form and fell to his knees with a thud, kowtowing furiously.
"Master, I beg you to save my sisters!"
This great, burly man at nearly six feet tall was now sobbing, snot and tears streaming down his face, casting aside all dignity. Even at his own near-death moments, he had never acted like this.
In the distance, Nuwa extended a finger, and two wispy, translucent clouds floated out of the Mountain and River Map.
Following them was Nezha, unconscious and enveloped by Turbid Qi.
Nuwa remarked: "Nezha ended up like this saving your disciples. You should handle this matter."
Zhao Gongming’s expression was twisted with fury, but he didn’t dare misstep in the presence of his Master.
The Tongtian Sect Master’s face also darkened. With a wave of his hand, he extinguished the malicious curses afflicting Yunxiao and her two sisters, then examined Nezha’s condition.
He stood, prepared to visit his elder brother to demand more Golden Cores. Familiarity breeds a lack of reluctance, and this time he didn’t hesitate.
Yet just as he was about to move, the voice of Saint Taiqing rang in his ears. He nodded slightly, closed his eyes, and remained silent.
Lord of Doushuai Temple, after a brief respite, once again received a request from his original body and, helplessly, reopened his furnace.
Yunxiao, trusting that her Master would ensure the safety of her sisters and Nezha, cast a worried glance before entering meditation.
This time, having lost a large portion of her origin essence, her injuries were undoubtedly severe.
Zhao Gongming, however, was restless, keeping his eyes fixed on his sisters and constantly pondering who the culprit might be. Once healed, he swore he would kill them!
The Tongtian Sect Master shook his head slightly at Zhao Gongming’s demeanor.
"Look at yourself now. Even if you found the real culprit, what could you do?"
Zhao Gongming hesitated for a moment before looking utterly dejected.
Muttering, "It’s my fault as the elder brother for being useless," he, too, entered a state of cultivation.
While the Saints had collectively sealed news about Nezha’s situation, the return of the severely injured Sanxiao sisters had quickly spread among the Jie Sect.
The Tongtian Sect Master’s focus remained wholly on Biyou Palace, unaware—or perhaps unconcerned—about happenings elsewhere.
...
In a small hidden realm outside Golden Turtle Island, a kindly-faced Daoist from the Western Sect met with another Daoist whose delicate features and demeanor resembled that of an old woman.
"Long-eared Ding Guang, if you follow my advice, there may be a chance to save your life in the future. Otherwise, hmm."
Long-eared Ding Guang Immortal remained hesitant, his expression still uncertain.
"The grand assembly of Ten Thousand Immortals under our Jie Sect is unmatched in its majesty. Not to mention, there is a Saint presiding over us—how could it possibly be as you claim?"
The Daoist chuckled, shaking his head as a dark glimmer flickered in his eyes. A mysterious aura began to ripple, subtly affecting Long-eared Ding Guang Immortal.
"Your Jie Sect’s Four Great Outer Disciples are already utterly ruined, are they not? It’s true, your sect has a Saint presiding. But our Western Sect has two. And if we include the one from the Chan Sect?"
"And what if we add the one from the Human Sect as well?"
Long-eared Ding Guang Immortal’s fear grew exponentially without him realizing it.
Terrified, he stammered, "Those three Lords are sworn brothers—they’ve coexisted for countless Yuan Hui. How could..."
He trailed off. As a member of Saint Tongtian’s entourage, he was privy to certain rumors. For instance, the discord between Saint Tongtian and Yuanshi Tianzun was almost a certainty.
"What... What exactly do you want me to do?"
The Daoist calmly intoned a Buddha’s name and said, "It is said that Saint Tongtian possesses a flag. Triangular in shape, its tail splits into six streamers. It is called the Six Soul Banner.
All you need to do is steal this treasure and lead the other attendant immortals to assist Yin Shang."
Long-eared Ding Guang Immortal’s face flickered with indecision. "If I do this, can you really guarantee my life during this Great Tribulation?"
"Amitabha Buddha. A monk does not lie."
...
Long-eared Ding Guang Immortal returned to Golden Turtle Island, hearing that Zhao Gongming and his sisters, as well as the Saint, had all remained inside Biyou Palace, with rumors even suggesting that Yunxiao, who had severed a corpse, was now at death’s door.
His growing fear eventually drove him to secretly steal the Six Soul Banner and gather five other attendant immortals.
These were Wuyun Immortal, Golden Hoop Immortal, Pi Lu Immortal, Lingya Immortal, and Qiu Shou Immortal.
With the later addition of Golden Light Immortal, the group was complete.
Among them, Golden Hoop Immortal was relatively steady, Pi Lu Immortal the most honest, while the rest were hot-tempered, reckless, and single-minded, often up to no good.
Long-eared Ding Guang Immortal convinced them that Feathered Immortal from the Chan Sect was responsible and urged them to seek vengeance on behalf of the Jie Sect disciples.
This easily deceived the strongest but most simple-minded trio of Wuyun Immortal, Lingya Immortal, and Qiu Shou Immortal.
Four to one, Pi Lu Immortal simply went along with the group. Golden Hoop Immortal thought they should deliberate further but had no authority, and the newly added Golden Light Immortal didn’t even have voting rights.
The Seven Attendant Immortals, a longstanding clique within the Jie Sect, decided to act together.
And so, Saint Tongtian’s entourage made their move!
They didn’t act immediately but instead sought out Shen Gongbao, who was loitering around Golden Turtle Island.
Their idea was that if they were blamed, Shen Gongbao could take the fall.
Shen Gongbao was overjoyed. The Seven Attendant Immortals were all tremendously powerful—this was the perfect opportunity to deliver a crushing blow to Jiang Ziya!
...
Meanwhile, at Mengjin, the Shang Army was in a state of decline. Commander Yin Po Bao was no match for Old Jiang, and his subordinates had no one who could rival Yang Jian or Wei Hu.
The 200,000-strong slave army had been whittled down to just over 100,000, forcing them to retreat entirely within the city walls for defense.
Ji Fa, now reinvigorated and full of confidence, stood before the two armies and declared loudly, "Yin Po Bao, King Zhou is tyrannical and immoral, leaving the people in despair. Our West Zhou follows Heaven’s Will and the hearts of the people. Surrender now, and your lives shall be spared!"
Yin Po Bao, a straightforward brute, was not inclined to make flowery speeches. That didn’t mean he couldn’t understand reason, though.
Laughing heartily, he pointed at Ji Fa and retorted,
"What nonsense are you spewing? If Ji Chang were standing here, I might believe him. But you—a traitorous son rebelling against your father, violating the principles of loyalty and filial piety—
How could someone as unfaithful and unfilial as you claim the position of World Ruler?"
Falsehoods don’t wound, but the truth cuts deep.
Ji Fa knew better than anyone the compromises and sacrifices he had made to get to this point. He hadn’t conjured soldiers out of thin air; every single fighter had been rallied through his own blood, sweat, and tears.
West Zhou didn’t have barracks that automatically produced troops.
Ji Fa’s face darkened as he roared, "Yin Po Bao! Cease your demagoguery! We rise to overthrow Shang and have Immortals supporting us—this is Heaven’s Will!"
Yin Po Bao, his bearded face filled with disdain, sneered, "You’re nothing but a despicable man! Come on then! We of Great Shang have Generals who fight to the death, not craven cowards who surrender!"
Ji Fa, furious, raised his sword and commanded, "Attack!"
The West Zhou army instantly launched their assault on the city walls.
Yang Jian and Wei Hu exchanged a glance but refrained from targeting Yin Po Bao.
Even though Ji Fa’s actions had nothing to do with them, they couldn’t help but look down on him.
