Chapter 208: Chapter 207: Good People Will Be Rewarded

Every time an aggrieved soul was cleansed, Ci Hang’s Dao Fruit would be eroded slightly. Although each cleansing consumed a small amount, the sheer overwhelming quantity was unrelenting.

More and more aggrieved souls surged wildly forward. Ci Hang’s face was pale, yet she gritted her teeth and held on.

The black aggrieved souls, after an initial cleansing, transformed into blue Spirit Light and streamed toward the Ghost Gate, heading to Ksitigarbha.

As their numbers swelled, Nezha struggled just to maintain the Ghost Gate. Knowing he had other tasks ahead, he cried out helplessly, "Brother Guang Chengzi, lend me a hand!"

Guang Chengzi, clearly shaken by the display, immediately stepped forward to replace Nezha, channeling mana to sustain the Ghost Gate.

Nezha still had another critical duty—leading the purified souls onward.

These souls couldn’t simply pour wholesale into the Reincarnation Plate for rebirth; the Primordial world didn’t have enough newborns to sustain such a process, which would cause catastrophic problems.

Nor could they remain trapped in the underworld; that would paralyze the entire reincarnation system of the Three Realms. They had to be led onward once again.

Fortunately, once rid of their grievances, the souls had become gentle and calm.

Nezha flew westward to a pre-surveyed location, wielded the Mountain Opening Axe, and with a single swing, cleaved a straight, hundred-mile-long fissure through the Primordial Land.

Next, he opened the Ghost Gate. Beside him emerged two replicas of himself, identical in attire but lacking his signature teardrop birthmark.

One sustained the Ghost Gate.

The other, wielding Ghost Emperor Authority, gestured and cried out to countless fully purified souls: "Come forth, souls!"

A boundless cascade of pure white souls coalesced like a river of stars, surging toward Nezha.

Nezha’s true form then invoked the Thunder Emperor Authority, pointing skyward while declaring, "Bring forth water!"

Thunder boomed across the heavens as Tianpeng, receiving the signal in the Heavenly Court, shouted, "Open the floodgates!"

The Heavenly River waters roared down from the Nine Heavens above, while Nezha guided their flow below, fusing them with the freshly emerged souls from the Ghost Gate before they finally settled into the chasm.

Thus began the entire sequence of the ritual.

The procedure itself had no issues, but people were prone to falter.

The first to be overwhelmed was Ci Hang, whose resplendent blue Dao Fruit grew increasingly faint under the relentless assault of the black tides. Yet, her expression remained indifferent.

Guang Chengzi and the others immediately recognized the danger and pleaded, "Junior sister, stop! If you continue, all your ten thousand years of cultivation could be forfeited!"

Ci Hang merely shook her head lightly. "Senior brother, I have found my path. Do not try to dissuade me."

Manjusri and Puxian attempted to step forward and assist, but given their Heavenly Immortal cultivation level, they couldn’t even approach.

Ci Hang looked skyward and declared solemnly, "I, Ci Hang, grieve the hardships of mortal life and the strife of all sentient beings.

With Heaven and Dao as my witness, I vow today:

May a thousand prayers yield a thousand answers, easing the suffering of multitudes and transcending countless aggrieved souls."

With that, Ci Hang’s body dissolved into countless particles of golden light, merging into her resplendent blue Dao Fruit.

(The "thousand" here is metaphorical. It’s inconceivable that the great Guanyin Bodhisattva would save merely thousands.)

The rampant aggrieved souls were affected by boundless compassion and merit, even causing the black tide to momentarily pause.

Guang Chengzi watched this scene unfold, his heart stirred into turmoil.

Ci Hang bore countless karmic debts upon herself, sacrificing her body to transcend the suffering of others. With her departure, the Chan Sect would no longer have Ci Hang Immortal.

Above the sky dome, golden light of merit descended gracefully, stabilizing the faint blue glow on the brink of collapse and transforming it into a brilliant, radiant gold.

Ksitigarbha sensed the golden light of merit flowing from the other side and felt an inexplicable resonance, chanting the Buddha’s name. His intuition was correct: Ci Hang’s Buddha Nature was undeniably profound.

Watching the Dao Fruit trembling in the air,

he spoke with a calm expression, "I, Ksitigarbha, am moved by the suffering of sentient beings. I vow to transcend the sins and anguish of the Six Daos across incalculable eons.

If the realms of hell are not empty, I shall not attain Buddhahood."

Limitless merit descended from the heavens, illuminating the entire underworld.

On Lingshan above, the Saints Jieyin and Zhunti uttered in unison, "Amitabha Buddha."

The disciples below them followed suit and said, "Amitabha Buddha."

This "Amitabha Buddha" did not denote any particular Buddha title; "Amitabha" signifies boundlessness and infinity, while "Buddha" denotes the hidden Buddha Nature (goodness) within all beings.

In essence: the goodness within all sentient beings’ hearts is infinite.

The Primordial world had no Buddha before, but from this day forth, it did.

...

Meanwhile, in East Lu, a previously unnoticed, eerie Buddha statue turned westward with an enigmatic smile.

Below it sat two crimson-red monsters, absorbing the dark red energy emanating from its body.

...

With the Heavenly Dao’s blessing, the entire sequence was firmly solidified.

Nezha looked at the two pillars of merit light, feeling as though he was witnessing history itself unfold before him.

Everyone had their own Dao, and at this moment, he gained a deeper understanding of the pursuit of Dao, as well as greater empathy for some of the seemingly absurd and incomprehensible actions of the great experts of the Primordial world.

The transcendence of lingering souls continued for over a year. With the Heavenly Dao’s assistance, the time was shortened to one-third of the original estimate.

Finally, the aggrieved souls encircling the underground were entirely transcended.

Exhausted, Nezha retrieved his two replicas by the riverbank, pulled out a piece of divine iron, and planted it on the shore. With a flick of his finger, he inscribed the words "Mother-child River."

This river, formed by Heavenly River water imbued with Spiritual Energy and filled with countless pure soul seeds, could heal all illnesses, strengthen the body, and, above all, grant pregnancy.

Yet it would only ever bear daughters.

As for why?

Because their souls were imbued with the power of Ci Hang’s Dao Fruit.

Taking one last glance around, Nezha departed for the great cavern.

Below, the depths remained bottomless. Without the interference of aggrieved souls, repairing it was arduous but still manageable.

Above, golden mist lingered. Chan Sect Immortals guarded the area with deeply concerned expressions.

Before long,

the golden mist slowly dissipated, revealing a white-robed woman whose compassionate features resembled Ci Hang by nine parts.

Judging by her cultivation, she had reached the Golden Immortal Realm.

The woman gently bowed to everyone and said, "Guanyin greets all Daoist friends."

From this moment onward, Ci Hang Immortal was no more, replaced by the endlessly compassionate Guanyin.

The Chan Sect immortals wore varied expressions.

Huang Long’s face revealed sorrow; the gentle senior sister he had admired was gone forever.

Guang Chengzi’s expression was laced with helplessness. Though he hadn’t held any deep feelings toward Ci Hang, the sudden loss of a family member from the Chan Sect left him equally grief-stricken.

Manjusri and Puxian hesitated to speak.

"Weren’t we comrades?"

"Why did you suddenly leave us behind?"

...

The Chan Sect immortals returned to West Zhou. The Divine Enthronement dragged on for so long that they were utterly drained, eager to finish it once and for all.

Nezha, meanwhile, looked at Guanyin and asked, "Sister Guanyin, where do you plan to go now?"

Though he didn’t think himself a good person, he enjoyed the company of kind-hearted people and sincerely wished for their happiness.

Guanyin hesitated briefly before answering, "I plan to return to South Sea Mount Potalaka to continue my cultivation."

"Can I visit you sometimes?"

Having inherited all of Ci Hang’s memories, Guanyin responded with a gentle smile, "You’re welcome to visit anytime."

"Actually, I’ve got a business proposition. Would you be interested, Sister Guanyin?"

"Oh? What’s the proposition?"
