Chapter 190: Chapter 189: Slaying Wuzhiqi
"Old Loach, surrender your River Earl position obediently, and I’ll leave you with an intact corpse."
The White Ape’s face could only be described as savage and brutal.
Wuzhiqi, who once declared himself the Water God of the Huai River and caused disasters there, obstructed Dayu during his flood-control efforts.
With his level of brutality, even if Dayu wielded the Mountain Opening Axe, he couldn’t beat him. But Dayu had a strategy: call for reinforcements.
No, rather, he called for a dragon.
The dragon in question was Ying Long, the mighty dragon who assisted the Yellow Emperor in his battle against Chiyou.
Ying Long, being from the same generation as Ancestor Dragon, Candle Dragon, and Azure Dragon, was truly an ancient great power. Since the Dragon Clan retreated to the Ancestor Dragon Hall, Ying Long had only appeared three times: the first was to serve as Lady Nuwa’s mount during her effort to mend the heavens, earning himself some merit.
The second was during the great battle between the Yellow Emperor and Chiyou, where Ying Long helped the Yellow Emperor and gained more merit.
The third was during Dayu’s flood-control efforts when he suppressed Wuzhiqi and sealed him under Gui Mountain, earning yet another round of merit.
He had a knack for showing up in time, truly a classic example of Primordial timely rain, befitting his title as the oldest Rain God of the ancient era.
Now, somehow, Wuzhiqi had escaped, and the first thing he did was occupy a stretch of water to recuperate. As for revenge?
He merely took out his frustrations on the nearby fish-dragon.
Back in the day, when Ying Long fought him, not a single scale of Ying Long was shed.
Feng Yi’s immediate reaction was to flee without saying a word, leaving behind all notions of Li Bai or Zhang Bai.
What could be more important than his own life?
Wuzhiqi had no intention of letting Feng Yi go. Swinging his massive staff, he struck at him directly.
Although Feng Yi’s Water Escape technique was swift, Wuzhiqi’s staff moved even faster. The surrounding river water parted as the staff descended, and its immense power wasn’t diminished by the water in the slightest, all of it landing heavily on the fish-dragon’s tail.
The fish-dragon wailed in agony and retaliated by spraying a massive column of water. Simultaneously, the surrounding river water surged toward Wuzhiqi, intending to create an opportunity for escape.
Unfortunately, Wuzhiqi wouldn’t fall for the same trick twice. With a furious roar, he plunged his staff into the riverbed and began violently stirring it, forming a massive whirlpool. The entire stretch of the Yellow River swirled rapidly around this vortex.
Feng Yi, who had merged with the water using the River Earl’s authority, was dragged along by the flow and brought back to Wuzhiqi’s side. He suddenly felt that the surrounding river water was no longer obeying his control.
The water wasn’t merely disobeying him; it was being forcefully carried by an overwhelming power, leaving it with no autonomy.
Detecting that Feng Yi had entered his strike zone, Wuzhiqi roared furiously.
The spinning staff was swung in a full arc, carrying the might of the entire river as it smashed downward.
Feng Yi, who had lost his ability to control water and whose true form was exposed, stared in terror at the staff endowed with boundless force as it came crashing down. He barely managed to utter a single "No" before his body was pulverized, his bones shattering to dust.
The staff struck the fish-dragon’s body with devastating power, leaving it a bloodied, mangled corpse on the spot.
Grabbing Feng Yi’s dragon corpse, Wuzhiqi began tearing it apart and devouring him piece by piece.
"Infinite Dao Domain, rise!"
With a crisp shout, the turbulent river water receded, leaving Wuzhiqi within a black-and-white world.
Wuzhiqi immediately sensed something was amiss and slammed his staff into the ground.
Even under the forceful blow, the Tai Chi markings on the ground didn’t shatter; instead, they spun even faster as if empowered by his strike.
Nezha felt the power conveyed by the Dao Domain and pulled out his Heart-following Iron Rod Soldiers, swinging at Wuzhiqi.
Though Wuzhiqi was battle-hardened, Nezha’s strike carried immense strength, sending him flying before he could retaliate.
For a moment, Wuzhiqi was stunned, unable to comprehend how this small human body could generate such monstrous force.
Of course, Nezha couldn’t match Wuzhiqi in raw physical strength. The power behind his strike came from the intricate utilization of his upgraded "Infinite Dao Domain," which was originally derived from the "Infinite Sword Domain."
Nezha realized he had underestimated this Water Monkey Wuzhiqi and had therefore remained hidden earlier, setting up the Infinite Dao Domain before initiating combat.
As an upgraded version of the Infinite Sword Domain, this technique couldn’t be immediately activated. It involved a complex fusion of elements such as Array Dao, Divine Skills, Magical Treasures, and more, making it difficult even for Nezha to categorize.
Its power, however, had multiplied significantly.
Trapped in this peculiar space, Wuzhiqi grew cautious: "Who are you, and what grievance have I with you?"
Tilting his head slightly, Nezha stowed away his rod and drew a treasure sword, saying, "My name is Li Bai. I’m a poet and part-time Sword Immortal. I’m here to vanquish demons and suppress evil!"
Wuzhiqi clearly didn’t understand the terms "poet" or "Sword Immortal," but the phrase "vanquish demons and suppress evil" was enough for him. Without hesitation, he brandished his staff and charged at Nezha.
Though Nezha didn’t cultivate Sword Dao, he excelled in swordsmanship.
Sword glimmers and staff shadows clashed in dozens of rounds, with neither side gaining the upper hand.
Nezha’s sole impression was that Wuzhiqi seemed far stronger than Yang Jian and Yuan Hong. At full strength, Wuzhiqi was likely on par with the Feathered Immortal. Back then, the Feathered Immortal’s speed had overwhelmed Nezha, rendering his Sword Domain ineffective. As a result, he had resorted to utilizing the Golden Crow’s power to escalate the battle. Dealing with Wuzhiqi now wouldn’t require such drastic measures.
Nezha flicked his wrist, causing his longsword to transform into countless blades of Sword Rain, all aimed at Wuzhiqi. Wuzhiqi had no choice but to swing his staff defensively, preventing the blades from striking his old wounds.
During their previous exchange, he had realized that Nezha’s seemingly ordinary longsword could bypass his defenses.
Nezha formed hand seals, causing the Yin Yang Two Forms within the space to rotate rapidly. Wuzhiqi felt two immense forces grinding against his body and Divine Soul.
Within moments, his entire form erupted with blood mist.
Howling in pain, he gripped his staff tightly, channeling blue luminescence into his hands. His staff emitted the sound of crashing waves as he thrust it toward Nezha.
With a quick hand seal, Nezha diminished himself to the size of a speck of dust, evading Wuzhiqi’s strike. Wuzhiqi then followed with a sweeping attack.
Nezha changed his hand seals again, swapping the positions and sizes of himself and Wuzhiqi.
Facing the now miniaturized Wuzhiqi, Nezha conjured a Golden Brick, smashing it down with a resounding thud.
Though simple in appearance, the force was extraordinary. The heavily shrunken Wuzhiqi collapsed completely under the strike, with his bones cracking audibly.
Upon regaining his original size, Wuzhiqi was utterly dazed and toppled backward. Despite his formidable physique, he lacked indestructible flesh, and the previous blow hadn’t killed him outright, but it was nearly fatal.
With a face full of unwillingness, Wuzhiqi struggled several times to rise and fight Nezha again, only to find his body incapable of executing any action, leaving him powerless against gravity.
"You’ve won, Li Bai."
Nezha summoned a Golden Sword adorned with carvings of nature on one side and celestial bodies on the other. With a flash of golden light, Wuzhiqi’s head was severed from his body.
The Great Demon Wuzhiqi was completely slain.
Nezha stored Wuzhiqi’s corpse. Truth be told, the two bore no deep grudges.
But you stood in my way—only the living can continue forward.
