The Incubus System Chapter 770. Ghostly Hand

Once we crossed the threshold of the haunted house, the darkness engulfed us. The air inside was heavy and filled with an otherworldly chill. Eerie music played softly in the background, heightening the tension.

The interior was a labyrinth of twisted corridors and dimly lit rooms. Every step we took seemed to echo through the darkness. The walls were adorned with haunting paintings and creepy portraits, their eyes following us as we moved.

Celia looked visibly spooked, and I could tell that the haunted house was getting to her. She took my hand for comfort, her grip tight and her fingers trembling slightly.

I squeezed her hand back reassuringly.

"It's going to be all right, Celia. We're in this together," I said.

"I know, but it's just so creepy in here," Celia replied, her voice tinged with unease as she glanced around at the eerie interior.

The flickering candlelight cast eerie shadows on the walls, making the decorations and props come to life in a sinister way.

Tiffany, at first, exuded an air of bravery befitting her demon hunter instincts, but even she couldn't escape the fear. The frightful sights and spine-chilling sounds began to take their toll on her too, and her composed façade began to crack.

"Okay, maybe this is a little scarier than I anticipated," Tiffany admitted, her voice stammering as she slowed her steps.

Despite her initial bravado, Tiffany couldn't help but let out startled screams as ghostly apparitions suddenly materialized before us.

The jump scare seemed to catch her off guard, making her grip on my hand even tighter.

Celia and I exchanged amused glances.

Celia, on the other hand, started surprisingly calm and composed throughout the experience. Her analytical mind seemed to be working overtime, trying to decipher the mechanics behind each scare and illusion.

Another fake ghost jumped out from the darkness, eliciting a startled yelp from Tiffany.

"Ah! Okay, that one got me. I didn't see that coming," she admitted, her heart racing from the adrenaline rush.

In the end, it was evident that Tiffany was more scared than Celia. And she now clung to me tightly, making it difficult for us to move forward through the haunted house.

Despite her fear, she was determined to soldier on and see the experience through to the end.

"Tiffany, you're the one who wanted to come here. Are you sure you can handle it?" I asked, wanting to make sure she was okay.

"I'm fine! I just... wasn't expecting it to be this scary," Tiffany reasoned, trying to maintain a brave front.

Her cheeks were flushed, and her eyes darted around nervously.

I couldn't help but let out a playful laugh, teasing Tiffany for her unexpected reaction to the haunted house.

"You were the bravest among us, and yet you're the most scared out of all of us now," I exclaimed, trying to keep the mood light.

Tiffany rolled her eyes.

"Hey, it happens to the best of us, okay?" she retorted.

Amidst the relentless onslaught of frights and surprises, an unexpected encounter left my heart pounding in my chest.

A ghostly hand had reached out from the shadows, attempting to pull me away. At that moment, time seemed to stand still as I managed to dodge the spectral grasp just in time.

"What was that? Did you guys see that?" I gasped, my breath coming in ragged bursts as I glanced around, trying to locate the source.

But there was nothing there—no ghostly figure, no hint of the mysterious hand that had nearly snatched me away.

"See what?" Celia asked, her brow furrowing in confusion. She, along with Tiffany, looked around the room.

"I didn't see anything. You're just imagining things," Tiffany insisted, her grin a playful taunt. "Or are you afraid?" she teased.

"I'm not afraid," I retorted. Was it possible that my senses had deceived me, and it was all just my imagination?

But deep down, I knew that wasn't the case. The feeling of that ghostly hand was too real, too tangible to be mere imagination.

Still, I shook my head, not wanting to let fear get the better of me.

"No, I swear I felt it. Let's just keep moving," I said resolutely.

Celia nodded in agreement.

"Agreed. The sooner we get out of here, the better," she chimed in.

The haunted house seemed to grow darker and more sinister with each step we took as if the very walls were closing in around us.

Celia's voice broke the silence, "This place is weird."

I couldn't agree more. There was something undeniably strange about this haunted house that went beyond the usual thrills and chills.

Ghoulish figures lurked in the shadows, their eyes glowing. The walls seemed to whisper.

"I just want to make it through in one piece," Tiffany whined, her voice tinged with a mixture of fear and exasperation.

Just as we were about to reach the exit, the lights flickered, then went out completely, plunging us into a pitch-black void.

"What's happening? Why did the lights go out?" I exclaimed in confusion.

In the darkness, I could hear Celia's soft whine of distress, and I knew she was just as unsettled as I was.

"I don't know, but I don't like this," Celia admitted.

Then I felt the familiar sensation of a hand trying to pull me away.
