The Hunter’s Lively Wife
Chapter 544 - Chapter 544 Chapter 544 Why Didnt They Fall for It

Chapter 544: Chapter 544 Why Didn’t They Fall for It? Chapter 544: Chapter 544 Why Didn’t They Fall for It? Mrs. Chu brought over some buns, so Su Yunjin didn’t bother cooking dinner that evening, just ate the buns that Mrs. Chu had delivered–a whole basketful of them.

Su Yunjin counted, and there were more than ten! That many buns were enough for her and Gu Ya to have for dinner. Auntie Song from next door would sometimes bring them pork bones without meat for making soup. That afternoon, Auntie Song had brought over two large pork bones again.

Su Yunjin fished the soaked pork bones out of the wooden basin and rinsed them thoroughly with fresh water. Before putting them in the pot, she had Gu Ya chop the bones in two places, breaking them in the middle, so that the bones would be more fragrant when stewed, allowing the bone marrow to infuse the soup fully.

While the soup was simmering in the pot, they steamed the buns on top. Once the soup was done, the buns would be ready to eat. A big bowl of pork bone soup paired with Mrs. Chu’s pork and cabbage buns.

Nibbling on buns and sipping soup, both Gu Ya and Su Yunjin were utterly satisfied. Drinking the fresh pork bone soup would make them sweat all over.

It was especially refreshing.

Early in the morning, Su Yunjin had chilled a large watermelon in the well at the backyard. After dinner, it was just the right time to fish it out and share it with Gu Ya. The watermelon chilled in the well water was particularly cool.

It was sweet and heat-relieving.

With a mouthful of watermelon consumed, Gu Ya and Su Yunjin both felt cool and refreshed. That evening before Mrs. Chu left, she had roughly relayed to Su Yunjin the recent happenings at the Gu Family.

Mrs. Zhang and Wan Ruyan were quite the characters; truth be told, Su Yunjin had also been curious about what would happen when Gu Changshun married Wan Ruyan. If Su Yunjin hadn’t been busy with the rumor mill lately, she surely would have heard about the uproar at Gu Changshun’s house. Wan Ruyan indeed hadn’t disappointed Su Yunjin.

Marrying into Mrs. Zhang’s family, she had caused a ruckus every day, annoying them to no end. Mrs. Zhang’s eggs and flour had been stolen by Wan Ruyan who knows how many times.

Wan Ruyan was a constant source of aggravation for Mrs. Zhang.

One day, Wan Ruyan almost burned their house down. All of that wasn’t the worst of it; incredibly, the day after the wedding, she had failed to show Mrs. Zhang the proper respect, not performing the ritual tea ceremony for her mother-in-law, and even beating Mrs. Zhang until her nose was swollen and her face bruised quite disgracefully.

Mother-in-law and daughter-in-law had both scratched each other’s faces.

They’d also torn out quite a bit of hair.

The neighbors around the Gu Family had their fair share of spectacle to observe after Wan Ruyan married in. Wan Ruyan had caused Mrs. Zhang quite a bit of grief at the Gu Family too.

Driven by anger, Mrs. Zhang had stayed inside for several days.

She ranted about making her son send Wan Ruyan away. Thinking about the recent events with Mrs. Zhang’s family, Su Yunjin couldn’t help but laugh out loud while eating the watermelon. How amusing, how amusing!

It was more thrilling than anything staged in a theatre.

“Husband, it seems Miss Wan is quite capable. Your eldest brother’s family has married her in, and there’s going to be plenty of excitement ahead,” Su Yunjin remarked.

Gu Ya raised an eyebrow.

He had always been disinterested in other people’s affairs and equally indifferent to watching any commotion. Seeing his little wife with a mouthful of watermelon seeds,

Gu Ya smiled and helped wipe her face, “How did you get it all over yourself again?” His fingertips slid across Su Yunjin’s face,

and the watermelon seeds fell off.

Su Yunjin subconsciously wiped her own mouth, “Is there more?”

“Mhm!”

Gu Ya nodded, “Come here, let me help you wipe again.”

Su Yunjin wasn’t so obedient.

Even as Gu Ya called her over, she didn’t go, but continued to gnaw on the watermelon. Trusting that man would be strange indeed. Seeing his little wife biting into the watermelon again, Gu Ya spoke, “Yunnan, why aren’t you coming over?” He was waiting for his little wife to come closer for a couple of kisses!

Little did he expect that his wife had wisened up this time!
