The Hunter’s Lively Wife -
Chapter 505 - Chapter 505 Chapter 505 Envy
Chapter 505: Chapter 505 Envy Chapter 505: Chapter 505 Envy Yesterday, Mrs. Chu saw that Su Yunjin and her family had moved into a new house, and she went over for dinner in the evening. Seeing their new home spacious and clean, although Mrs. Chu wasn’t as openly jealous as Mrs. Zhang and the others–who couldn’t stand to see someone else doing well–she had to admit she did feel a tinge of envy.
She too hoped that one day she could build a house as large as Su Yunjin’s with Gu Jianghai, and then they, as husband and wife, could move into it.
Of course, Mrs. Chu was merely daydreaming. With the little income that her husband Gu Jianghai brought home each month, which was just enough to cover their household expenses, the meager amount left over was far from sufficient for building a house. Mrs. Chu had done the math: relying solely on Gu Jianghai’s earnings, it would take at least five to six years before they could afford a house like Su Yunjin’s.
Five to six years was far too long for Mrs. Chu, who wanted it sooner rather than later, ideally within two to three years. She could earn money too; it wasn’t just something her husband could do. Mrs. Chu also planned to start a business and sell goods at the market. She heard that Su Yunjin sometimes sold things there.
Mrs. Chu wanted to try selling at the market as Su Yunjin did, but renting a stall was out of the question since she and Gu Jianghai had no money. The only option left was to set up a temporary stall in the market.
Setting up a stall in the market didn’t require silver, only arriving early enough to claim a good spot.
Mrs. Chu might not have had many skills, but she made steamed buns and dumplings that were very fragrant; her family had once run a steamed buns and dumplings business at the market.
Mrs. Chu had learned the trade too.
After discussing it with Gu Jianghai, initially he was against the idea of his wife setting up a stall in the market, but eventually could not hold out against his wife’s insistence.
In the end, Gu Jianghai reluctantly agreed.
Deciding to sell dumplings, Mrs. Chu was afraid her cooking skills might have deteriorated, so she dared not rush into setting up a stall immediately. Instead, she planned to start by practicing at home.
After making them, she would invite people to taste them and ask for their opinions. She would consult several people, and if everyone found them delicious, then there would be no problem. That morning Mrs. Chu got up early to make dumplings.
Once the dumplings were steamed, she sent a portion to her mother-in-law and father-in-law, and she didn’t forget to send some to Mrs. Zhang’s family and Mrs. Han’s family as well.
Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Han were too busy eating to comment, while her mother-in-law, Mrs. An, and her father-in-law tasted them and tentatively approved of the flavor.
Knowing that her sister-in-law, Su Yunjin, could make delicious food, Mrs. Chu thought that the dumplings she made must be good if even Su Yunjin said they were tasty.
Mrs. Han packed a bowl of dumplings and a plate of steamed buns into a basket and, leaving Gu Jianghai at home to watch Aluo, she carried the basket to Su Yunjin’s new house.
Last night, Su Yunjin and Gu Ya didn’t get to sleep until nearly dawn. At first, Su Yunjin initiated, but later it was all Gu Ya’s efforts, and by the end, Su Yunjin was so exhausted she didn’t even remember falling asleep!
Gu Ya, on the other hand, had a look of complete satisfaction.
His wife had not only been proactive last night but also exceedingly obedient–he didn’t need to coax her at all, and she was wonderfully well-behaved. It was the only time since their marriage that Gu Ya had been fully satisfied.
When Mrs. Chu arrived at Su Yunjin’s home carrying the dumplings and steamed buns, Gu Ya was already up while Su Yunjin was still sleeping. Gu Ya explained to Mrs. Chu that Su Yunjin was tired from moving house the day before and hadn’t woken up yet.
Mrs. Chu had no reason to doubt him.
“Brother, these are the dumplings I just made this morning. I’ve brought them for you and sister-in-law to try.” Since Su Yunjin hadn’t woken up, Mrs. Chu decided to have Gu Ya try the dumplings and steamed buns first.
