Chapter 481 - Chapter 481 Chapter 481 Gu Changshun Returns
Chapter 481: Chapter 481 Gu Changshun Returns Chapter 481: Chapter 481 Gu Changshun Returns Mrs. Zhang had forgotten that Gu Changshun was supposed to return tomorrow, and Su Yunjin cared even less. She was utterly unaware that Gu Changshun would be back the next day. Thus, when Su Yunjin went out early the next morning and unexpectedly saw Gu Changshun, she couldn’t help but be taken aback.
As for Gu Changshun, who had spent half a month soaking in the pig cage, he recalled how Su Yunjin had added fuel to the fire that night, leading to his severe punishment by the Magistrate.
Gu Changshun had long harbored a grudge against Su Yunjin, itching for revenge.
During his time soaking in the water, Gu Changshun had contemplated finding an opportunity to properly retaliate against Su Yunjin, to give her a taste of his formidable wrath.
Upon his return, Gu Changshun was somewhat surprised to see Su Yunjin. After his initial shock, Gu Changshun noticed there was no one around in the Gu Family compound at that moment, and his third uncle was also absent. A glint of ruthlessness flashed in his eyes, and Gu Changshun felt that now was the best time to take his revenge on Su Yunjin.
Su Yunjin, noticing the malicious look in Gu Changshun’s eyes, knew full well that the man was nothing but trouble. Afraid that Gu Changshun would harm her, she hurriedly called out to Gu Ya inside the house.
“Darling!” As she called for Gu Ya, Su Yunjin hastily ran backwards. She considered Gu Changshun to be like a rabid dog and certainly had no intention of confronting such a scoundrel head-on.
Gu Ya was inside the house; hearing his young wife’s voice, he rushed out to see her running towards him.
“What’s the matter, Yunjin?” Gu Ya urgently asked.
Su Yunjin threw herself into his arms, panting as she spoke, “Darling, Gu Changshun has returned; he wants revenge on me!” She could still feel the murderous look Gu Changshun had given her just moments before.
Gu Ya instinctively embraced his young wife, who had thrown herself into his arms, and looked past her, only to see Mrs. Han, the wife of his fourth brother Gu Tiezhu, outside.
He saw no one else.
“Yunjin, where’s Gu Changshun? Look, there’s no one behind you,” Gu Ya said. Hearing his words, Su Yunjin stepped out of his embrace to look back.
Eh?
Indeed, no one was there.
Where was Gu Changshun?
When she had been running just now, Su Yunjin was certain she had felt Gu Changshun following right behind her. How could he have disappeared without a trace in the blink of an eye?
In fact, Gu Changshun had indeed intended to take revenge on Su Yunjin at first, but seeing her run fast and noticing the appearance of his uncle Gu Ya, he reconsidered.
Gu Changshun knew he was no match for his uncle and, having just been soaked in the pig cage for half a month, he did not want to stir up trouble or face another punishment from the Magistrate.
And so, he gave up on the idea of retaliating against Su Yunjin and returned to his own room.
Today being the day of Gu Changshun’s return, Mrs. Zhang thought of nourishing her son after his half-month ordeal in the pig cage. This morning, Mrs. Zhang had unusually prepared a large pot of white porridge and boiled two brown eggs: one for her younger son and the other to help Gu Changshun recuperate.
After preparing the porridge and eggs, Mrs. Zhang saw her son Gu Changshun return and joyfully urged him to sit down and eat, “Son, look what your mother has prepared for you? Come, come, sit down and eat.”
Once seated, Mrs. Zhang went to fetch steamed buns for Gu Changshun. The buns, which she steamed with resolve, were for Gu Changshun who had been living on pickles and cornbread while in the pig cage.
It was the kind of coarse and hard cornbread that was difficult to swallow.
Suddenly presented with such delicacies, Gu Changshun naturally began to eat heartily.
After returning to their room, Gu Ya, having heard his young wife’s words, furrowed his brows and questioned her, “Yunjin, are you saying that Gu Changshun really did want to take revenge on you just now?”
