The Hunter’s Lively Wife -
Chapter 407 - Chapter 407 Chapter 407 Improper
Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Improper Chapter 407: Chapter 407: Improper Standing off to the side, Wan Ruyan heard that this fine fabric was a gift from Gu Ya and his wife.
Her little face underwent another series of fluctuations.
Such fine material.
It must have cost at least half a coin, right?
It was actually from Gu Ya?
Suddenly, Wan Ruyan’s mind was filled with Gu Ya’s handsome features.
In the village, Wan Ruyan had never seen anyone as good-looking as Gu Ya, which was something she regretted for a while after Gu Ya’s leg was injured.
Otherwise, she would have rushed to marry Gu Ya long ago.
Having been in the Gu Family’s home for so long, Wan Ruyan had yet to see Gu Ya. Mrs. Zhang said Gu Ya’s leg had healed, but not having seen him, Wan Ruyan was half-convinced.
If Gu Ya’s leg really had healed.
Why hadn’t she seen him?
Wan Ruyan was doubtful about whether Gu Ya’s legs had truly recovered. Hearing that Gu Hengniang had arrived, and that Mrs. An had returned to her room, it was unexpected to also find Wan Ruyan had come.
Mrs. An was immediately a bit displeased.
She felt her daughter Gu Hengniang was inept at managing affairs.
Gu Chengxiang’s face fell the moment he saw Wan Ruyan, but now that she had arrived, and it being a celebration of his birthday, neither he nor Mrs. An found it in them to turn her away.
However, Wan Ruyan was adept at ingratiating herself. In front of Gu Chengxiang and Mrs. An, she dutifully addressed them as ‘Uncle’ and ‘Aunt,’ doing so in a particularly intimate and natural manner.
This left Mrs. An and Gu Chengxiang feeling a bit awkward.
With Wan Ruyan’s arrival, and with Mrs. Zhang and Mrs. Han–the ultimate paragons–outside, Su Yunjin didn’t want to see those paragons and deliberately hid inside the room, not going out.
The young bride stayed in.
Gu Ya, wanting to accompany his young bride, also refrained from going out.
After Gu Hengniang finished meeting with their father, she brought Wan Da’an to Gu Ya and Su Yunjin’s room. Wan Ruyan, always curious, wondered whether Gu Ya’s legs were truly fine.
Despite feeling a bit embarrassed, she followed Gu Hengniang to the room of Gu Ya and Su Yunjin.
“Third brother, big sister-in-law said your legs are fine now. Who would have thought it’s actually true?” Gu Hengniang said as soon as she walked in and saw Gu Ya standing as usual.
Wan Da’an had always been skeptical that Gu Ya’s legs were healed, but now seeing Gu Ya, he too was astounded, “Third brother, I thought your leg was ruined. Is it truly alright now?”
Wan Ruyan, following behind Gu Hengniang and Gu Ya, laid her eyes on Gu Ya the moment she entered. It had been over a year since she last saw him, and Wan Ruyan found that Gu Ya was even more handsome and appealing to her than when she had first met him.
Seeing Gu Ya like this, Wan Ruyan couldn’t take her eyes off of him.
Her gaze stayed locked on him,
unabashed and downright undisguised.
Gu Ya, seeing that Wan Ruyan had been brought to the room he shared with his young bride by his second sister, was immediately displeased and spoke in a stern voice, “Second sister, Miss Wan is still an unmarried girl. Bringing her into the room of a married man like me might be inappropriate.”
Wan Ruyan, upon hearing Gu Ya’s words,
felt somewhat wronged.
“Gu Big Brother!”
Her voice was delicate,
the kind that would involuntarily invoke pity in any man.
The pitiable Wan Ruyan looked at Gu Ya, waiting for him to speak up and comfort her. Unfortunately, from start to finish, Gu Ya’s gaze never once fell upon her.
Instead, Su Yunjin beside Gu Ya was sizing up Wan Ruyan with the air of someone watching an interesting show.
