Chapter 383 - Chapter 383 Chapter 383 Let Him Marry You
Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Let Him Marry You Chapter 383: Chapter 383: Let Him Marry You Mrs. Zhang had followed Gu Baofu for so many years, but she’d never seen him bring back much silver. On the contrary, his younger brother Gu Ya was much better at making money.
In the past, despite Gu Ya being bedridden with his legs disabled, people would still bring money to him to earn, and even Fuman Building, that large restaurant, would send their ledger to him.
Mrs. Zhang had inquired elsewhere and found out that Fuman Building paid Gu Ya well for keeping their books. No wonder that couple now had the silver to repair their house.
If Gu Ya could make money with his legs disabled, now that his legs were fine, wouldn’t he be even more formidable at earning? She guessed that he must be watching gleaming silver coins pouring into his purse all day long.
The more Mrs. Zhang thought about it, the more useless she found her own husband.
“What’s the use of a husband like you? Can’t even compare to a cripple? When your crippled brother was lying in bed, he still had people bring him money to make, but you? You? How long has it been? Not a single copper coin brought back! What use does your old lady have for you?”
Gu Baofu was so annoyed by Mrs. Zhang’s nagging that he pushed her plump body, almost causing her to fall backward, “Enough with it, woman, aren’t you annoying? If you despise me that much, go and live with the third brother then, go on, let him take you in as well, that way his earnings will be yours.”
Never expecting Gu Baofu to say such a thing, Mrs. Zhang was even more livid, her eyes turning red with rage as she wildly gesticulated and pointed at Gu Baofu’s nose.
Crying and making a scene, “You wretched thing, how dare you speak to your old lady like that? I’ve been with you for so many years, and now you want your old lady to follow your brother?”
Gu Baofu knew he had spoken out of line.
He didn’t say another word.
But Mrs. Zhang continued to cry and make a fuss, smashing the stools and chairs in the house, which Gu Baofu was reluctant to see get damaged as he’d have to buy new ones.
He hurried forward to catch the items before she could break them.
“Oh dear, wife, don’t smash, don’t smash, these are all money, you know. If you break them, we’ll have to spend silver to buy new ones, won’t we?”
Mrs. Zhang too was reluctant to waste money.
She was always scrimping every copper coin.
And afraid to damage the items in the house.
This time Mrs. Zhang stopped throwing things.
But she continued to vent by scolding her husband.
Gu Ya returned home and immediately saw his little wife staring at the house where his elder brother and sister-in-law lived; following that, he could hear his elder brother Gu Baofu and sister-in-law quarreling inside the house.
The sister-in-law berated Gu Baofu for his lack of capability, and also called him a worthless bum.
Su Yunjin found it novel and amusing to suddenly hear these two troublemakers start a brawl within their own nest.
Interesting!
Not only did that troublemaker Mrs. Zhang find ways to bother her all the time, but now she was also fighting with her own husband?
Su Yunjin found it entertaining.
She looked on at her sister-in-law and elder brother’s house as though watching a play.
Gu Ya, however, stepped forward and tugged at his little wife’s sleeve, “Yunjin, let’s go back inside.”
“Husband, have you returned?” Su Yunjin noticed Gu Ya and asked.
Gu Ya repeated, “Let’s go, we’ll go back first.”
“Go back to watch what? There’s a good show here, let’s watch a bit longer.” Su Yunjin thought Mrs. Zhang’s talent for scolding was indeed formidable, how she could render Gu Ya’s elder brother Gu Baofu speechless with just a few words.
Gu Ya looked at his little wife with a hint of amusement, “Yunjin, what’s so interesting about elder brother and sister-in-law arguing? Let’s go! Back in our room, I’ll tell you about the materials for the house repairs.”
After hearing what Gu Ya said, Su Yunjin thought about it and agreed that her elder brother and sister-in-law’s quarrel wasn’t that interesting after all.
So, Su Yunjin no longer insisted on watching and went back to their own room with Gu Ya.
