Gu Ya’s fifth brother, Gu Jianghai, wasn’t idle either–he was helping to mend the doors and windows. With so many people at home helping with the work today, it was natural for Su Yunjin to prepare lunch.

She had bought meat and vegetables the day before, keeping the meat soaked in water to prevent spoilage and the fish alive in a wooden basin. Thus, today’s midday meal would be abundant with both fish and meat.
