Chapter 84: A Heartwarming Reunion

Inside the room, Nolan was alone with Syra, who lay unconscious.

Alex and Orlan had stepped out to give Nolan space to heal her.

"Loss of vitality, huh? But I doubt it’s that simple," Nolan murmured.

He placed his palm on Syra’s stomach, and a soft purple light began to flow from his hand into her body.

Whoosh!

Suddenly, a black magic circle appeared above her. At the same time, a terrifying aura surged from it—an aura so dreadful it could shake anyone to their core.

"Just as I thought, it’s a curse," Nolan muttered irritably.

From the beginning, he had suspected there was another curse placed on Syra.

After all, Alicia had suffered something similar. Most likely, Syra’s loss of vitality wasn’t caused by childbirth but by a curse.

And now, that suspicion was confirmed—the curse was the true cause.

"Those Underworld Gate mages are a damn nuisance," he growled through clenched teeth.

No wonder his father despised them—they were dangerous and didn’t deserve to live.

"Hah..." Nolan exhaled slowly, trying to suppress his anger. Then he called out, "Malverna, come."

In an instant, a streak of black light flashed beside him, and the beautiful, curvaceous figure of Malverna emerged.

She folded her arms across her chest and looked at Nolan with an irritated expression.

"Why did you call me?" she asked coldly.

"To ask for your help, obviously," Nolan replied casually. He gave her a quick once-over, then asked with curiosity, "How’s the new body? Comfortable?"

The question seemed to cool Malverna’s anger. She turned her face slightly and replied indifferently, though a note of gratitude colored her voice.

"Comfortable. I can move around like I used to."

"Pfft!" Nolan chuckled and nodded in satisfaction. "Well, I’m glad to hear that. After all, your body was made using the Pearl of Emptiness. That’s an incredibly rare item, you know?"

Despite her irritation, Malverna couldn’t deny it. The Pearl of Emptiness was indeed an item that was nearly impossible to obtain.

There was a reason it was known as one of the rarest treasures in the world.

At the edge of the Western Continent lay a mysterious place called the Island of Silence.

According to legend, the island didn’t form naturally—it fell from the sky.

Many believed it was a fragment of heaven itself, and people once raced to find it.

But the island was elusive, and despite a massive search effort, no one succeeded.

Except for one man, whose name was never recorded in history.

He claimed to have reached the island and described it as a place overflowing with treasure—virtually limitless.

Among the most powerful and priceless of those treasures was the Pearl of Emptiness, said to have the power to breathe life into any creature and create entirely new bodies for them.

Still, the man warned that the Island of Silence was inhabited by powerful monsters—each one was said to possess the strength of a city-level, country-level, or even catastrophe-level threat.

Since then, the Island of Silence has become a lasting legend, its story passed down for generations and known across the world.

That’s why Malverna had been so shocked to learn that the object used to revive her was the Pearl of Emptiness.

It left her wondering just who Nolan really was—a man shrouded in mystery... and fear.

"Alright, enough with the pleasantries," Nolan said casually. He turned his gaze back to Syra and ordered, "I want you to break the curse on this woman’s body."

Malverna blinked, then looked up at the black magic circle hovering above Syra. Her expression shifted instantly.

"This is just a weak curse. Why are you asking me to handle it?" She asked with a frown.

Nolan rolled his eyes and replied lazily, "Weak or not, what matters is that I gave the order—and you must obey. After all, you’re my slave."

"You..." Malverna clenched her jaw in frustration but couldn’t argue.

This man had kept his promise—he brought her back to life and gave her a new body. And the fact that she was now his slave... couldn’t be denied.

Face flushed with irritation, Malverna reached out and struck the magic circle with her fist, shattering it instantly.

"Are you satisfied now?" she asked coldly.

Nolan nodded with a wide smile. "Very. You did great."

"Hmph." Malverna snorted, but a flicker of warmth stirred in her heart. "I’m leaving."

Just as she was about to vanish, Nolan’s voice called out behind her.

"Wait."

Startled, Malverna turned, a hint of confusion in her eyes. "What is it now?"

Nolan smiled faintly, his tone laced with mystery. "I have a task for you..."

"Marquis Orlan, come in."

Nolan’s calm voice came from inside the bedroom. Orlan swallowed hard—his face pale and tense.

"Father..." Alicia’s soft voice called out beside him, full of worry.

Orlan gently stroked his daughter’s head, trying to hide his anxiety.

"I’m fine," he said in a soothing tone. "You’ll see your mother soon. You won’t be alone anymore."

His words lit a spark of joy in Alicia’s heart. Since she was a child, she had never spoken to her mother directly.

Syra had always been in a coma, only waking briefly from time to time. They had lived under the same roof, yet shared no real moments—no conversations, no warmth.

Alex stepped forward and opened the door for them. And in an instant, a sight that had only lived in their dreams appeared before their eyes.

Syra, his wife—who hadn’t been fully conscious in years—was sitting upright in bed, leaning against the headboard.

The moment their eyes met, all the emotions buried deep inside burst forth—longing, sorrow, joy, and overwhelming emotion, all colliding at once.

"Syra!" Orlan cried out.

He sprang forward and ran straight to her.

Alex was startled and tried to stop him, but it was already too late.

Orlan was already holding his wife tightly in his arms.

"My love, I’ve missed you so much!" He sobbed, burying his face in her tangled hair.

Syra clung to him just as tightly, her face pressed against his chest, eyes shut as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Me too, my love," she whispered, her voice trembling with pain.

Watching the reunion, Nolan—who was usually composed and indifferent—smiled warmly. Even he couldn’t help but be moved by the scene unfolding before him.

Orlan and Syra held each other for five full minutes before finally letting go.

"You’ve grown so thin, darling," Syra said, her expression both sad and bitter. "Look at your cheeks... so hollow. You’re nothing like how I remember you."

Orlan gave a faint, wry smile and closed his eyes, as if savoring the warmth of her touch a moment longer.

"It’s alright, love," he replied gently. "I just haven’t had a proper night’s sleep in years. You were always on my mind... I stayed up every night, searching for a way to heal you."

Syra lowered her gaze, a tight ache settling in her chest. She bit her lower lip, tears welling at the corners of her eyes.

"I’m sorry," she whispered. "If I hadn’t been so selfish back then, you would have—"

Before she could finish, Orlan gently pressed a finger to her lips.

"Shh... Don’t say that. Your wish has always been mine too," he whispered gently.

Then he turned toward Alicia. "Sweetheart, come here. This is your mother. You’ve waited so long for this moment, haven’t you?"

Syra’s body stiffened as her gaze fell on the little girl standing beside the bed, her eyes wide and glassy with emotion.

"Are... are you Alicia?" she asked softly, wiping her tears away.

Alicia couldn’t hold back any longer. She rushed forward and threw herself into her mother’s arms.

"Mother!" She cried.

Syra caught her at once, hugging her tightly. "I’m so sorry, my precious girl... I’m so sorry..."

Watching the reunion, Alex couldn’t hold back his tears any longer.

"Hiks... My Lord, at last... your dream has come true..."
