Chapter 65: The Most Talented Mage in the Tower of Silence—Jisha
In a pink room adorned with cute dolls lining the headboard, Alicia lay trembling.
Cold sweat drenched her small body, and her lips were dry and pale.
Beside her, Orlan stared at his daughter, his face a mix of panic and sorrow.
"Jisha, what’s happening to my daughter? Why is she convulsing like this!? Didn’t this only happen at night!?"
He turned to a young woman with short brown hair, standing a few steps away.
She was beautiful and youthful, her round glasses giving her a gentle look.
She wore a green dress beneath a light green cloak, delicately embroidered with a rose petal emblem.
Her name was Jisha—a powerful mage with healing magic. She came from the Tower of Silence, a renowned organization founded by the strongest mages across the world.
Hearing his frantic questions, Jisha looked troubled and uncertain.
"I’m sorry, Lord Orlan. This is the first time Young Lady Alicia has shown these symptoms, and I don’t yet know the exact cause. Please allow me a moment to calm her convulsions and analyze her condition," she said softly.
Orlan took a deep breath and gave a heavy nod.
"All right... I’ll leave it to you. But please, be quick," he said in a voice filled with worry. "I can’t stand seeing her suffer like this."
Despite his panic, Orlan knew he couldn’t afford to act rashly or lose control.
The woman beside him was a healer mage he had specifically hired to ease Alicia’s suffering from the curse.
Offending her could put their cooperation at risk—after all, mages of Jisha’s caliber were extremely rare.
"Don’t worry. Leave it to me," Jisha said earnestly.
She placed her right palm on Alicia’s chest and began chanting high-level healing magic.
Buzz!
A bright green light burst from her palm and slowly spread across Alicia’s body.
But to her surprise, the convulsions didn’t stop. In fact, Alicia’s condition grew even worse.
Jisha’s expression hardened. "This is... strange. It doesn’t make sense."
She pushed more power into her spell and cast another high-tier healing incantation.
Fortunately, after fifteen tense minutes, Alicia’s body finally began to settle.
Her pale complexion slowly regained some color—though just faintly.
"Hah... hah..." Jisha withdrew her hand from Alicia’s chest, gasping for breath.
Sweat dripped from her forehead and traced down her cheeks. She wiped it away and stepped back to steady herself.
To suppress the symptoms, I nearly used up half my mana reserves, she muttered, shaken. What’s going on? Why is the curse getting stronger with time?
She looked down at her slightly trembling hands, fully aware that Alicia carried a powerful curse—that was the very reason she had accepted this job.
As the most talented healer mage in the Tower of Silence, Jisha took great pride in her abilities.
She had successfully cured countless ailments, both natural and magical.
But ever since she began treating Alicia, she had come to realize that this curse was unlike anything she had ever encountered—far more powerful and terrifying.
Even after a full year of caring for the girl, she had yet to discover a cure or a way to remove it.
And just now, merely suppressing the curse’s effects had drained nearly half of her mana—the most terrifying experience of her life.
Meanwhile, Orlan let out a long breath of relief as he watched his daughter’s convulsions finally come to a stop.
He managed a faint smile and was about to thank Jisha—until he noticed her face, pale and filled with uncertainty.
"Jisha, are you alright? Why do you look so pale?" He asked with concern.
Jisha snapped out of her thoughts and gave a slow shake of her head.
"I’m fine, Lord Orlan," she replied, doing her best to stay composed. "It’s just... Young Lady Alicia’s convulsions are getting worse. I fear that, in the future, the symptoms may grow beyond my ability to control."
Her words struck Orlan like a blade to the chest. For a moment, it felt as if his heart had stopped.
"J-Jisha... What do you mean? Are you saying you want to quit?" Orlan asked, his voice trembling. "If it’s about the pay, please don’t worry—I’ll give you more. Just... please don’t leave."
If Jisha walked away now, he truly didn’t know what he would do.
His daughter would suffer even more. Until now, only Jisha had been able to suppress the curse’s effects.
"Please don’t misunderstand, Lord Orlan. I have no intention of quitting," Jisha said quickly, her tone firm. "What I mean is... even with my abilities, the curse afflicting Young Lady Alicia seems beyond healing. The symptoms keep worsening, and I’m afraid that one day, I won’t even be able to suppress them anymore. When that time comes... you’ll need someone stronger than me—a healer or doctor far more powerful."
Orlan fell silent, his body frozen.
From the very beginning, he had known how terrifying this curse was—almost impossible to cure.
Hiring Jisha had been a desperate attempt to buy time, to keep the curse at bay while he searched for a way to save his daughter.
But now, even Jisha was beginning to waver. Like it or not, he would have to start looking for someone stronger to take her place.
"Marquis Orlan, is Alicia alright?"
Suddenly, a worried voice called out from behind, making Orlan flinch.
He turned to see Nolan hurrying into the room, his face filled with concern.
"Forgive me for disturbing your rest, Prince," Orlan said respectfully, bowing slightly.
Nolan gently patted his shoulder and looked toward Alicia, who now lay unconscious, as if in a deep sleep.
He narrowed his eyes. "Were the convulsions suppressed?"
Orlan forced a smile. "Yes... for now, they’ve been brought under control."
He turned to Jisha, who was eyeing Nolan with curiosity, and introduced them.
"Jisha, allow me to introduce Prince Nolan of the Imperial Palace."
Then, facing Nolan again, he added, "And Prince, this is Jisha—the genius healer mage from the Tower of Silence."
The two stared at each other, both with a hint of surprise.
"So, you’re Jisha from the Tower of Silence? The famous genius mage?"
"And you’re... Nolan? The Sixth Prince, known for being lazy and useless?"
They called each other by their nicknames, but it was clear that the way they viewed one another was completely different.
"Ahem!" Orlan gave a light cough. "Jisha, you shouldn’t say that. Regardless of his reputation, Prince Nolan is still royalty."
"Oops! My apologies, Your Highness Nolan. That was rude of me," Jisha said quickly, giving a small bow.
Still, there was a faint smile on her lips—one that looked more mocking than sincere.
Nolan noticed it, of course—but he didn’t seem to care in the slightest.
Nolan did, in fact, know about this girl—Jisha. Of course, "know" in the sense that he had heard of her, not that they had ever met in person.
It was said that the Tower of Silence—the most powerful mage organization on the continent—had produced a genius born only once in a thousand years.
And that genius was the woman standing before him.
He was genuinely surprised. He hadn’t expected to find Jisha here, of all places.
Without acknowledging her further, Nolan turned back to Alicia and asked Orlan, "So, can you explain why Alicia suddenly started convulsing?"
Jisha’s body stiffened at being so blatantly ignored.
Her round cheeks puffed up in annoyance, her face clearly showing her irritation.
What a rude man, she grumbled inwardly.
