Chapter 68: Make A Bigger Ruckus!

Chapter 68: Make A Bigger Ruckus!

"Are you alright, Princess?" Gideon asked Eve worriedly.

Gideon was the one who helped the princess snuck out of the carriage without letting the knights know. Eve had been quiet ever since Gideon escorted her to the nearby tavern. They chose the corner table away from the other customers.

"Don’t worry no one will recognize you here," he spoke again, reassuring her.

"Let me drink," Eve suddenly blurted out, staring at Gideon’s tankard.

Eve reached out her hand to pick up the tankard; however, Gideon quickly grabbed it and did not allow her to touch it.

"NO! You can do anything except DRINK any alcoholic beverages!" He exclaimed with a stern expression on his face. "If you are thirsty, I can let you drink water or juices, butNEVER LIQUOR," he added.

Gideon didn’t want to see Eve’s violent persona. It was difficult to deal with her inner beast!

Meanwhile, Eve frowned when she heard that. "What’s wrong? I’m of legal age. Why are you forbidding me from drinking? They say getting drunk can help you forget your worries." She was so upset with Alaric that she wanted to get drunk.

"Haha!" Gideon chuckled and said, "It can also make you forget people... to the extent of wanting to kill them. So drink only if you want to kill your scum husband. But you can’t drink when you are with me. Understand? I’m your master, so you have to listen to me!"

Eve pouted her lips. "I’m not strong enough to beat him."

Gideon’s crisp laughter bubbled up once more. "Believe me, Princess. If you are drunk, you might be able to beat that young general!"

Eve heaved a frustrated sigh. In the past, she just avoided drinking wine and alcoholic beverages because of Annie’s request. She never questioned Annie. The middle-aged woman just told her it was for her own sake.

Now that Annie was gone, Gideon was the second person who forbade her from drinking alcohol.

"So what are you planning to do now? The three knights might have discovered that you have gone missing." Gideon changed the topic.

"Have you decided to run away from your husband and never show up again?" he asked her expectantly, his lips curling up into a sly smirk.

Gideon moved his face closer to her and whispered, "Run away with me, Princess. I’ll free you from your cage. I’ll give you the taste of this so-called Freedom. Let’s travel around the world."

Eve fell silent as she gazed at him. This was the second time Gideon offered her to run away with him. It was quite tempting. However, something was holding her back.

"Maybe next time... I might finally accept your offer. But for now, I still have unfinished business here. I want to prove something to the people who belittle me. If I leave now, it will feel like I’m accepting defeat. I can’t allow them to trample on my name," Eve said with a newfound resolve.

"Hmm, that’s my student. You are becoming braver and fiercer. I’m so proud of you! Hahaha. Honestly, I was surprised when you suddenly flaunted your combat skills by pointing a sword at a royal guard! You look so cool!" Gideon praised Eve, patting her back.

"I have no choice. I don’t want them to take Randolf away. Unfortunately, Alaric still asked him to stay behind to accept his punishment." Eve slammed the table while gritting her teeth. She was mad at Alaric and at the same time, worried about Randolf.

"Hmm. He truly deserved that slap." Gideon remarked before taking a sip of his beer. "However, one slap isn’t enough. If I were you, I would’ve punched him several times until I was satisfied."

Princess Eve just pursed her lips while clenching her fists.

"By the way, I’m curious. Why did you slap the Princess of Eldara? That was a reckless move yet I admired your boldness and bravery. Hahaha! You really love to create a ruckus."

"The Eldara’s royal guards won’t spare you. They won’t hesitate to slash you. If not for Alaric’s interference, I would have beaten those knights as well," he added.

Eve narrowed her eyes at Gideon. She didn’t know whether he was scolding her or he was praising her.

She was about to reply when, suddenly, a group of royal knights entered the tavern and sat down beside their table. Gideon immediately raised the hood of Eve’s cloak, covering her head to conceal her face.

Eve and Gideon exchanged meaningful glances with one another. Fortunately, the royal knights were not the ones he fought at the palace entrance gate earlier.

"I think we should leave and find a more relaxing place. Besides, you are not allowed to drink," Gideon whispered to Eve.

She nodded in response. The two of them were about to stand up and leave the table however, Eve stopped moving when they heard the knights talking about Alaric.

"Have you heard the latest rumors circulating around the palace?" A knight said, opening the conversation with his comrades.

"Oh! Are you referring to the rumor about General Stormholt and Princess Thalia?"

"I don’t think it’s just a rumor anymore. I heard from my friend who joined the escort team that he saw them with his own eyes. Many of them had witnessed General Alaric and Princess Thalia kissing and making out in the riverside."

Upon hearing the exchanges of conversation among the knights, Gideon instinctively glanced at Eve, his face laced with genuine concern.

’So that must be the reason why she slapped the Princess of Eldara. She might have told Eve about what happened between Alaric and her. She looks like a white lotus. She is good at manipulating the situation. She spells trouble for Eve.’ Gideon smirked in amusement, yet a cold glint flashed through his eyes.

"Eve, shall we leave? You don’t have to listen to this further," Gideon said in a low voice, grabbing Eve’s hand.

Eve rose from her seat, letting Gideon pull her along. They had only taken a few steps when the knight spoke again.

"I think at tonight’s banquet, Princess Thalia and General Stormholt might announce their relationship and make it official. With the support of the Crown Prince of Eldara, General Stormholt will request King Solomon and Queen Amara to grant him a divorce. He will ask for their permission to divorce Princess Evelina and marry Princess Thalia."

Gideon felt Eve tighten her grip on his hand.

"Gideon..." she uttered his name with suppressed anger in her tone.

"Yes?" Gideon replied, staring at her intently.

"Do you mind helping me... sneak into the palace? I want to gatecrash this grand banquet," Eve declared, her hand gripping Gideon’s hand tightly.

He was taken aback by her sudden request. But seeing her right now, he could feel her raging fury. He didn’t have the heart to refuse her.

"Of course. I can easily help you with that. But are you certain about this? If you go there, you might hurt yourself further." Gideon didn’t understand why Eve wanted to attend the banquet despite hearing those words. "Can you bear watching them together as they announce their affair?"

Eve glanced at him with a meaningful look in her eyes. "I think you were right when you said... I love creating a ruckus. Now, let’s make a bigger one!"

Gideon: "..."
