The Hero's Forsaken Princess -
Chapter 42: The Prince and The Seer
Chapter 42: The Prince and The Seer
A bird messenger landed on the royal knight’s hand. The pigeon came from the Kingdom of Averion.
After reading the message, Avan, the Captain of the Royal Guards of Kingdom Eldara, informed the knights.
"We’ve just received a message from Kingdom Averion. One of their generals is coming to meet us here on the border. They will escort us to Averion Castle. Prepare to camp here tonight!"
Receiving his command, the knights quickly moved, putting up the tent for their Crown Prince and the other nobles who came along with them. A grand banquet awaited their arrival at Averion Castle.
Avan, the captain of royal guards, approached the Crown Prince’s carriage.
"Your Highness, we are going to camp here in the meantime and wait for Averion’s army to escort us."
There was a moment of silence. Prince Cassian didn’t say a word.
Avan gulped hard anxiously, contemplating whether to knock on the door of the carriage or take a peek through the window to see what their crown prince was doing.
He didn’t want to disturb the crown prince from his nap. Offending Prince Cassian meant severe punishment. He was very strict and he gave mercy to no one.
"Crown Prince?" He called out again.
Thud!
Avan jolted in shock when a loud thud echoed inside the carriage. It seemed that Prince Cassian hit the carriage wall where he was standing.
"I’m bored!" A deep cold voice was heard.
Avan gulped hard once more. He knew he had to do something to entertain their bored crown prince. Otherwise, he and other warriors would end up the source of his ’entertainment.’
He can still vividly remember when Prince Cassian used several royal knights as human targets during his archery practice. He called that ’adding fun’ to his boring training.
Each warrior had to stand for hours, holding apples in their hands and one apple placed above their head.
Three unlucky warriors were hit by the arrows, not because the crown prince committed a mistake, but because he deliberately shot them when they started to move.
If Crown Prince Cassian mentioned ’Entertainment,’ to them, it only meant ’Danger and Life-Threatening.’
’The Devil is in his grumpy mood!’ Avan thought to himself, his body began to sweat profusely.
’Sigh. It’s so hard to please the Crown Prince. How I wish Princess Thalia was here.’
Avan felt like crying. But he didn’t have a choice. King Constantine entrusted him with the task of accompanying the Crown Prince on this journey.
"Your Highness, I–" Avan’s words were cut off when the door of the carriage was pushed open.
Prince Cassian’s towering figure emerged from the carriage. His sharp brown eyes swept his surroundings. His brows furrowed deeply upon seeing the warriors putting up the tents.
"Are we going to sleep here in this wilderness?" Prince Cassian asked the Captain, his expression unreadable.
"Yes, Your Highness. We’ve received a message from Kingdom Averion. The Averion’s royal knights are on their way to welcome us. The army is headed by the young general, Alaric Stormholt. He is the kingdom’s hero." Avan spoke spontaneously as he explained to Prince Cassian the reason why they had to set up an encampment on the border.
Prince Cassian arched his eyebrow with intrigue at the mention of Alaric’s name.
"He is the one who rescued my sister, isn’t he?"
King Constantine received a letter from Princess Thalia after she was rescued successfully by Alaric and the 5th Battalion. She even stated in the letter that she wanted to marry the mighty hero.
King Constantine mentioned this to Crown Prince Cassian as he couldn’t decide whether he should agree to the wedding or not.
After hearing King Constantine’s sentiments, Prince Cassian volunteered to travel to Kingdom Averion to fetch Princess Thalia and to meet Alaric in person. He would evaluate Alaric’s character to determine if he was worthy of marrying Princess Thalia.
Aside from that, Prince Cassian had another reason for setting a journey to Kingdom Averion.
Avan nodded vigorously. "Yes, Your Highness. He is the hero who saved Princess Thalia."
Prince Cassian’s lips curled up into a sly smirk. "Interesting. I would like to meet him. Is he really worthy to be called Kingdom’s Hero?"
"Your Highness... This young general single-handedly destroyed an army. I think he is–"
Avan didn’t continue his words as Prince Cassian waved his hand dismissively, indicating he didn’t want to listen further.
"Summon Sylvana. I need to talk to her," he abruptly ordered him before going back to his carriage.
Avan, the Captain of the Royal Guards, quickly took action, following his instructions.
Sylvana was the Seer of Kingdom Eldara. She was a precious asset to the kingdom since she possessed a natural gift for perceiving future events and insights through dreams and waking visions.
Sylvana played a crucial role in the royal court, influencing decisions on war strategy, governance, and personal matters related to the Royal Family.
It did not take long before Avan returned, escorting a petite woman, her long black hair cascading down her shoulders. She wore a long black dress, almost covering her entire body. She was only in her 20’s. And she possessed an exotic beauty.
"Your Highness, Sylvana is here," Avan announced.
"Let her in," Prince Cassian responded in his deep cold voice.
Avan opened the carriage door for Sylvana. She quickly thanked the Captain before entering the carriage.
"Greetings, Your Highness," Sylvana softly said as she courtly bowed her head.
Prince Cassian just waved his hand, motioning for her to sit down on the opposite side.
As she sat down, Sylvana’s amber eyes met Prince Cassian’s deep brown orbs. There was a moment of silence.
Prince Cassian narrowed his eyes. He didn’t like the way Sylvana’s eyes scrutinized him.
"Have you seen another vision?" Prince Cassian asked her in his stern cold voice.
Only Sylvana could stare directly at Prince Cassian without being intimidated by his overbearing presence.
"Yes, Your Highness. This time I’ve seen a much clearer vision." Sylvana responded.
She tried to read and predict Prince Cassian’s future.
"I want to conquer all the kingdoms and you only told me that the answer I seek can be found in Kingdom Averion." Prince Cassian looked at her meaningfully.
"So now... what do I need to be victorious in the battle? What will I find in Kingdom Averion?" This is the main reason why Prince Cassian volunteered to go on this journey.
"Your Highness... the key to your success happens to be a woman. If you want to conquer all the kingdoms, you need to have her." Sylvana revealed her second vision.
Prince Cassian crumpled his face, displeased by what he heard.
"A woman?" He exclaimed in disbelief. "That’s ridiculous." Prince Cassian laughed sardonically, dismissing that thought.
But Sylvana remained serious. "Silver gray hair with emerald eyes... That’s what I saw in my vision. But I didn’t see her face clearly."
Despite his protest, Sylvana still continued to share the details of her second vision with Prince Cassian.
The crown prince became more annoyed. He was expecting to hear that the alliance with Kingdom Averion or a certain warrior in Averion would be the key to his success.
But his Seer was telling him a different thing. And much worse, it was a woman!
"Does she have a certain power? How could a woman bring me victory in conquering all the kingdoms? Is she a goddess of war?" Prince Cassian said, his voice filled with mockery.
Sylvana could only lower her gaze. Her vision didn’t show her how the woman would be able to help Prince Cassian in his goal of conquering the other kingdoms.
Her silence enraged Prince Cassian further, thinking Sylvana was interpreting her vision incorrectly.
In a flash, Prince Cassian charged at Sylvana, grabbing her shoulders as he pinned her on the carriage wall. His towering figure loomed over her, his eyes seething with rage.
He forcefully gripped her hair, tugging it downward to make her gaze up. His face was just an inch away from hers. She could feel his hot breath fanning her skin.
"Women are useless on the battlefield," Prince Cassian uttered through his clenched teeth.
Sylvana couldn’t look away. She just held her breath as Prince Cassian roughly parted her legs using his knee. He pressed it further down to her spot, making her whimper when he started grinding his knee against the spot between her legs.
"For me... a woman is just an object of pleasure. They don’t hold any significant power... Even you!"
Prince Cassian’s rough assault continued as his palm captured Sylvana’s breast, squeezing it hard through her black dress. His lips began nibbling on her earlobe, grazing it with his teeth.
Sylvana just shut her eyes, biting her lips to suppress her moan. She didn’t hate Prince Cassian’s rough behavior. Instead, she found intense pleasure with it. She loved seeing his dominance. A tyrant ruler she wanted to serve with her life.
"Y-Your Highness... you know I’ve never made a mistake in my predictions. It always happens." Sylvana said, trying to convince him. Her hips started to move, grinding her aching apex against his knee.
Prince Cassian let out another sarcastic laugh, still refusing to accept her vision.
"If your visions go wrong, prepare for a harsh punishment from me, Sylvana. I won’t be forgiving... even if it’s you," Prince Cassian whispered in his threatening tone.
A chill ran down her spine upon hearing that. Her scalp tickled with anticipation. Sylvana wasn’t afraid of his threat. Instead, she was looking forward to it. As long as the punishment came from Prince Cassian, she would accept her fate wholeheartedly.
