The Hero's Forsaken Princess -
Chapter 173: Powerful Army
Chapter 173: Powerful Army
The knights were in an uproar when they saw a legendary creature flying above them. They didn’t expect to see a mighty dragon. They called upon their general with panic-stricken expressions on their faces.
"General! General! What should we do? Do we need to shoot burning arrows?"
General Artemis and Captain Alucard stepped out of the tent to check the situation outside. Even General Artemis was overwhelmed upon seeing a real dragon.
"Don’t launch an attack, or else your fortress will be destroyed," Captain Alucard warned General Artemis.
Before he could respond, Alucard pulled Artemis’s hand, leading him outside the border gate. It did not take long before the dragon landed on the ground.
The knights from both kingdoms were surprised to see Princess Eve climbing down from the dragon’s back. Along with her, a white fox also leapt from the dragon.
General Artemis watched Princess Eve in awe. "Is that really Princess Eve?"
Captain Alucard nodded in response.
"Yes. She is. Now, you understand. Your army can’t defeat us. You have to encourage King Solomon and Queen Amara to surrender and fulfill Princess Eve’s demands, or else Kingdom Averion will be taken by force." Alucard advised his old friend.
The Dragon roared, intimidating the knights who were pointing their arrows and swords at them. They immediately retreated, foreheads and bodies sweating profusely.
"Stand down, warriors!" General Artemis commanded in his authoritative voice.
His gaze lingered on Princess Eve, who was now walking toward him. She was being escorted by the white fox and Commander Kevin.
"Your Highness."
Both Alucard and Artemis bowed courteously as they greeted her. Even though Eve was on the enemy’s side, General Artemis still showed her respect—she was, after all, the third princess of Averion.
Captain Alucard stepped forward to introduce General Artemis. He knew that Princess Eve was not familiar with General Artemis. She seldom met the four generals from the noble clans of Averion.
"Princess Eve, This is General Artemis, the man who helped your mother to settle here in Kingdom Averion. He is a good man."
Princess Eve’s expression softened when she heard that. "Thank you for everything, General Artemis."
"You don’t have to thank me, Princess. I just did the right thing. How is Alaric? Is he safe? He’s my pupil... and I’m his former master. I’m worried about him. Caleb told me he was imprisoned in Zephyra’s castle." General Artemis sounded like a worried father. Deep down, he considered Alaric as his son.
"I appreciate your concern for my husband, General Artemis. Alaric will be fine. He is safe. No one will hurt him as long as I’m with him. I’ll make sure that King Zaraki will never touch him," she reassured him.
General Artemis was glad to hear that.
"General, I am here because I want you to send a message to my father, King Solomon. Please escort Captain Alucard and his army to Averion Castle. After this, I have to join Gideon’s army to provide them with support. I heard that General Ravenmoor is guarding the border from the other side. Once I settle the fight with General Ravenmoor and his army, I will follow you to the castle." Eve instructed the two leaders.
"Are you going to use the dragon to pressure your father, Princess?" General Artemis asked her curiously.
Eve nodded in response.
"Yes. I’m using the dragon. Not just the dragon... but also all the beasts in the surrounding forests. I’m a beast tamer, General Artemis. I can summon and command wild beasts to fight Averion’s armies without putting our warriors in danger. Make this clear to King Solomon."
General Artemis was shocked by Eve’s revelation. Who would have thought that Princess Eve possessed such a frightening yet powerful ability—Beast Taming?
"If only they had treated her well, this wouldn’t have happened. King Solomon will surely regret everything once he discovers Princess Eve’s power," General Artemis thought to himself.
"Princess Eve, I will cooperate with your demand, but please, can you promise me one thing? Don’t hurt the innocent people and my battalion." General Artemis expressed his genuine concern for the people of Averion and his knights. He wanted to protect them.
"Yes. I understand. I won’t hurt them as long as they won’t fight me."
General Artemis felt relieved by Eve’s promise. He believed in the goodness of her heart and knew that Princess Eve wouldn’t go back on her word.
"OPEN THE GATE!" General Artemis yelled, commanding the guards.
The knights were puzzled as to why their general ordered them to open the gate. They were reluctant to obey him.
"Allowing our enemy’s army to enter the border is a crime punishable by death! We can’t do this, General Artemis."
Some knights expressed their concern and objection. But General Artemis spoke again to convince them.
"I am trying to resolve this without spilling some blood. If we insist to fight them, we will be annihilated by the dragon. Is this what you want? Do you want to sacrifice your lives?"
The knights fell silent, exchanging glances with one another. They were still contemplating what they should do.
"Trust me! I will take full responsibility for this action!" General Artemis added to his speech.
Upon hearing that, the guards finally opened the border gate, allowing Captain Alucard and his army to march inside.
"Wait for me in the palace! I’ll see you there!" Princess Eve bade goodbye to Captain Alucard and General Artemis.
After watching them enter the border gate, Princess Eve quickly mounted Dragon Zephyr with Aerin. The mighty dragon took flight once again, heading toward the other border where Gideon’s army was facing General Ravenmoor’s forces.
"How long are they going to reach the Averion Palace, my queen?" Aerin, the mystical fox, asked Eve.
"This border is closer to the capital. They will reach the Averion Palace in just two weeks," Eve responded.
"Hahaha! Too slow! Through me, we can reach the palace in just a few hours of flying above the sky." Zephyr butted in, feeling proud. He was flaunting his flying speed.
Both Eve and Aerin giggled and nodded in agreement at Zephyr’s final remarks. Traveling by dragon truly was convenient—soaring above forests, rivers, and mountains, they could go distant places in just a few hours. It was a thrilling and effortless way to reach their target destinations.
Meanwhile, General Ravenmoor mobilized the knights to strengthen their defenses. The tension was heavier than ever, as Gideon and his army remained still, showing no signs of movement.
’I can’t figure them out. Do they want to negotiate or not?’ General Ravenmoor was becoming impatient as time went by.
It did not take long before they heard a loud flapping sound above them.
"General, look! Is that a giant bird?" a knight asked General Ravenmoor, who was also staring up at the distant sky.
General Ravenmoor’s face turned pale as soon as the flying creature got closer and closer to them.
"No way! It’s a dragon!"
"Damn! Why is there a flying dragon at times like this? I thought they didn’t exists!"
The knights had the same reactions the moment they saw the huge dragon flying above them.
Only Gideon was not surprised to see it. He even smiled as he understood why Princess Eve was confident she could arrive on time.
’She used the dragon. She is going to scare the hell out of them!’ Gideon smirked at that thought.
"Don’t panic! The dragon is on our side!" Gideon informed his knights.
The Zephyra’s army cheered upon hearing Gideon’s words. They became more confident in defeating their enemy.
On the other hand, General Ravenmoor and the Averion Knights could hear the joyous scream of the opposing forces.
"General, what are we going to do? It seems that the dragon is part of their army. Their secret weapon!"
The Averion knights showed a sign of distress and fear against their mighty enemy. They could feel that they were going to be defeated soon.
"How could this happen? No one heard about Kingdom Zephyra having a dragon!" General Ravenmoor was shocked beyond belief.
They had barely recovered from their fright when a pack of dire wolves appeared, marching toward the border— howling.
Gideon and his knights were also stunned with fright when they saw the approaching dire wolves. If he had to estimate their number, Gideon would say there were hundreds of them.
"General, look! The dire wolves—are they going to attack our enemies? I think we still have a chance to defeat them!" a commander exclaimed, unaware of the true situation.
General Ravenmoor narrowed his eyes. He was a little bit confused. Was there just a coincidence or not?
"You fool! The dire wolves are ignoring the warriors of Zephyra’s kingdom! I think they’re part of their army. Someone is controlling them! Perhaps they have a beast tamer on their side!" General Ravenmoor felt the severity of their situation.
The dire wolves moved to the front of the army, as if they were the first line of attack, waiting for their master’s command.
"Send message to the palace right away!!! This situation is urgent! We need help!"
