The Hero's Forsaken Princess -
Chapter 105: A Warning from the Princess
Chapter 105: A Warning from the Princess
After tallying the scores of Princess Thalia and Princess Alessandra, the Huntmaster declared the final winner in the royal hunt.
"Princess Evelina is the winner. Your Highness, please come and join us here on the stage."
Eve felt so happy. Without further ado, she joined Alaric as they faced the crowd.
Everyone couldn’t believe that the married couple would dominate the royal hunt.
"Why do I feel like the two of them have cheated?" A nobleman from Eldara blurted out.
The nobles from Eldara were disappointed that Crown Prince Cassian and Princess Thalia lost.
"We can’t do anything about this." Another spectator spoke up.
"Let’s complain!"
"There is no way to prove they cheated. Stop being bitter and just accept it." A supporter of Alaric and Eve began to argue with the other.
Meanwhile, Sylvana approached Crown Prince Cassian.
"How do you feel about this, Your Highness?" she asked him expectantly.
"I accept my defeat," Crown Prince Cassian said while eyeing Eve meaningfully. "There is one thing to explain this. I guess... one of them has the ability to tame the animals. Perhaps... it’s a beast tamer skill."
Sylvana nodded in agreement.
Crown Prince Cassian glanced at her with a triumphant smile. "Sylvana. I think I understand now why Princess Evelina is the woman in your vision. She has the power I need to conquer all the kingdoms... She is a beast tamer!"
Sylvana fell silent for a moment, analyzing the situation. She looked at Eve intently, scrutinizing her.
’All kingdoms are searching for beast tamers. They are very useful to increase the military power of one kingdom. In fear of them, some kingdoms sent assassins to eliminate beast tamers of the other kingdoms to remove the threat of invasion. If Princess Evelina is indeed a beast tamer, Prince Cassian will have more reasons to steal her from Alaric. He won’t give up on her.’ Sylvana felt a little bit jealous. Though other kingdoms were also searching for a Seer, Prince Cassian preferred to have a beast tamer on his side.
’Am I becoming useless in his eyes now?’ Sylvana’s heart constricted at that thought.
She was distracted when Crown Prince Cassian simply held her hand, squeezing her hand gently. "Good job, Sylvana! I think your vision is right. I really need Princess Evelina to reach my goal and accomplish my dream."
After saying those words, Crown Prince Cassian clapped his hands as he expressed his support for the winners. He didn’t want to question the result of the competition. He heard the comments of the spectators so he wanted to show them he didn’t mind losing against Alaric. And most importantly, he wouldn’t allow anyone to insult Eve, accusing her of cheating.
On the other hand, Queen Amara couldn’t even hide her displeasure. She recalled that Eve chose her to grant her wish once she won. She couldn’t avoid this.
’Damn. Why does it have to be her? I can’t accept this.’ Queen Amara narrowed her eyes while clenching her fists.
Noticing her mood, King Solomon leaned closer to her and whispered, "You have to cooperate and honor Eve’s words. You have to grant her wish. We are in front of our subjects so don’t let your emotions control you."
King Solomon reminded Queen Amara to behave and act properly.
King Solomon grabbed Queen Amara’s hand as they approached the winners of the royal hunt. The result was unexpected. However, they had to complete the event by rewarding the winners.
"Congratulations on winning. State your wishes. We will do our best to grant your wishes," King Solomon said, darting his gaze back and forth between Eve and Alaric.
Alaric and Eve exchanged glances with one another. She motioned for Alaric to go first. He kneeled in front of the king and queen before stating his wish.
"Your Majesty, my wife and I are planning to visit the slum area one of these days. With that, I would like to request that all the captured animals during the royal hunt will be given to us. We will make use of them and provide the poor with those meats." Alaric finally stated his request.
King Solomon liked Alaric’s generosity. Instead of requesting some extravagant rewards, he just asked him to give him all the captured animals during the royal hunt.
"Very well. I’m giving you permission to take those captured animals. You are free to do anything you want," King Solomon said, granting Alaric’s request. "I would like to give you additional rewards. I will provide you with some grains which you can distribute to the people in the slum areas."
"Thank you so much, Your Majesty! I will accept all these rewards!" Alaric responded politely.
"Now, it’s your turn, Princess Eve. What do you want from your Queen Mother?" King Solomon asked Eve since he knew that Queen Amara was not in the mood to speak up.
Queen Amara pursed her lips, avoiding Eve’s gaze. She didn’t know what kind of wish Eve would request her. She was a little bit anxious since everyone was watching them right now.
"Queen Mother," Eve uttered, staring at her intently. "Can you give me a hug?"
Queen Amara froze in her spot upon hearing that. Her face crumpled in grimace.
’Hug her?! In front of everyone! She is deliberately doing this to annoy and irritate me!’ Queen Amara clenched her fists tightly.
Queen Amara never hugged Eve even once. She despised her a lot, especially now that she resembled Esmeralda a lot. How could she hug the woman who resembled her love rival?
She felt disgusted by just thinking about it.
Meanwhile, others were surprised by Eve’s simple wish. She looked like a child yearning for a mother’s embrace.
"Oh, why do I feel like Queen Amara and Princess Eve have a strained relationship as mother and daughter. Why did she wish for that?" a noble expressed his thoughts as he watched them on the stage.
"Do you think the rumor is true? Princess Eve is not Queen Amara’s biological daughter? If it were true, then who is Princess Eve’s mother?" a court member raised this question.
Speculation that King Solomon had another woman began to resurface. It was something Queen Amara wanted to avoid.
’I hate this woman! I wanna kill her for forcing me to do this,’ Queen Amara cursed inwardly.
Little did everyone know, Eve had two reasons for requesting such a thing from Queen Amara.
First reason: Eve wanted to know if Queen Amara had considered her as her daughter even once. She hoped the queen had loved her for being an obedient princess for all these years.
Second reason: If Queen Amara hated her to the core, requesting such a thing would serve as her lowkey revenge. She knew how prideful Queen Amara was. Her request was her way of provoking her. She forced her to do something she didn’t want to do in front of the crowd.
’Queen Amara will not apologize to me. At least, making her hug me will let her experience the pain of asking someone to do something against her will.’ Eve thought to herself.
She somehow knew Queen Amara’s weakness. Queen Amara would grant her request to avoid raising suspicion about Eve’s real origin. The royal family tried so hard to hide Esmeralda’s existence and King Solomon’s scandal.
"Your Highness, what are you waiting for? Please hug our daughter now," King Solomon urged Queen Amara since everyone was looking at them suspiciously.
Gritting her teeth tightly, Queen Amara slowly traced her steps toward Eve. She had no choice but to fulfill Eve’s wish even though she despised her a lot.
’I’m only doing this in order not to raise any suspicions. They started to doubt Eve as my biological daughter because she does not resemble me at all! I admit defeat. Eve has cornered me today.’
Queen Amara finally wrapped her arms around Eve’s body, hugging her. She tried her best to conceal her negative emotions. However, her stomach churned in disgust just touching her.
"I’m going to pay you for this. This is so humiliating!" Queen Amara whispered in her ear.
Eve could feel Queen Amara’s hatred. ’I knew it. I should stop giving myself a false hope. Queen Amara will never acknowledge me as her daughter.’
With a bitter smile on her face, Eve hugged Queen Amara back, wrapping her arms around her. Then she whispered, "Queen Amara, I’m no longer afraid of you. Starting today, I will protect myself. I won’t allow you to bully me and abuse me ever again. This is my warning."
Queen Amara’s eyes widened in shock upon hearing Eve’s last remarks. She even felt her grip tightening around her. She wanted to push her away but she couldn’t.
"Starting today, I will no longer treat you as a mother. For me, you are now only the queen of this kingdom," Eve boldly declared. She meant every word she said.
"If you try to hurt me again... or even my people... expect me to fight back," she added, reminding Queen Amara.
