Chapter 99- Strange
Chapter 99: Chapter 99- Strange
"Is that a friendship? That sounds more like a simple partnership."
"Are they not the same?"
After Dae-Hyun made that statement, he read Sol’s hesitant expression and he immediately added.
"But Brother Sol, this is not all. I’ve personally spoken with my Father and I’ve gotten permission to give this to you."
Dae-Hyun flipped over his palm and a manual appeared in his hand.
Sol’s pupils constricted after he saw the title of the manual when Dae-Hyun placed it on the table.
"Jeagal Clan’s Formation Arrays."
"Brother Sol, by your reaction I suppose you understand the value of this manual. Although this only consists of the basics of my family’s Formation Arrays, it is still something someone of your Barbarian Race would kill for."
Sol had to agree with Dae-Hyun’s statement.
In the world of Rune and Formations, the Barbarian Race was known to be unrivaled. They’ve invented Runes that were thought to be impossible. However, they weren’t the only contributors to the world of Runes and Formations.
The Jeagal Clan could be said to be on par with the entire Barbarian Race. A mere Clan was able to match the accomplishments of an entire race.
It was shocking.
As for what these contributions were, one point should be made first.
A Rune was a singular design that a Rune Master could create to have varying effects, but a Formation is a cluster of Runes linked or stacked on top of each other to produce great otherworldly phenomenons. This can go even further to link multiple Formations together, this is called a Formation Array, and usually if one studies Runes they would inevitably go down this path.
The Barbarian Race might be the biggest contributor to the development of Runes, but to create Formation Arrays that link these Runes together, the Jeagal Clan was unparalleled.
One would have to imagine what would occur if these two groups were to share their knowledge with each other. The entire cultivation world would probably see a great revolution.
Unfortunately, both powers were extremely against sharing their secrets with the world.
Some even say the Runes the Barbarian Race puts out into the world, as well as the Formation Arrays the Jeagal Clan released were only the tip of the iceberg for them.
But here in front of him, Sol was being handed the secrets of the Jeagal Clan’s Formation Arrays.
Basics or not, Dae-Hyun had no idea how stupid this decision was on his part.
Sol calmed down his rapidly beating heart and asked calmly.
"Are you sure you want to give me something like this?"
Dae-Hyun grinned and his over-friendly demeanor showed as he said.
"Brother Sol, I trust that you won’t share the contents of this manual with another person, especially Prince Mar-Dule. Even though these are the basics of my Jeagal Clan’s Runic Formation Arrays, if it were to fall in the hands of the Barbarian Race’s Royal Family, they might just surpass my Jeagal Clan entirely."
This did not make sense to Sol, this was still too risky for the Jeagal Clan to give him something like this.
The only thing Sol could conclude was that the information in this manual was information the Jeagal Clan had no problem revealing.
As Sol was in his thoughts, Dae-Hyun seemed to read his mind.
"Brother Sol, it’s not the case as what you’re thinking. I really had to sacrifice an arm and a leg to get Father to approve of this exchange."
Sol went silent at that.
However, Dae-Hyun suddenly added.
"Brother Sol, before you make your decision, know that this manual is only a gift. It is not part of the exchange."
"A gift?"
Sol look at Dae-Hyun with slight surprise when he heard that.
With his friendly smile, Dae-Hyun nodded and then said.
"That’s right, I meant every word when I said I wanted to form a friendship. Not only this manual, but you can ask for one of our Core Martial Arts Techniques and we’ll gladly give it to you."
"Really?"
Sol was further shocked by that.
Dae-Hyun nod his head once more but then said with a forced smile.
"This was my Father’s idea. He hoped that if we gifted you one of our Core Martial Art Techniques, you’ll agree to not steal any more from our Clan Members."
Sol smile awkwardly and coughed in his fist when he heard that.
Dae-Hyun laughed and said.
"Brother Sol, you are in a peculiar position I think no one in Jianghu has even been in. Everyone wants to befriend you, but at the same time, they want to protect their Martial Arts Techniques from you. You should expect the other Clans to approach you with similar offers. So, Brother Sol, you should really think about the techniques you want."
Dae-Hyun gave Sol a wink after he said that last sentence.
Sol could see that Dae-Hyun was advising him to get the best out of the current situation.
Sol smiled and said.
"Brother Dae-Hyun, how about this... I heard that not only will there be mid-grade medicinal plants in the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension, but there will also be high-grade medicinal plants with even legendary Tier 9 being found inside. So I’ll sell half of the mid-grade medicinal plants I gather to you and one-third of the high-grade ones."
Dae-Hyun face lit up when he heard that.
"Deal!"
Dae-Hyun hefted the wine jug and poured himself another cup of wine. He then held it up and said.
"Brother Sol, let’s drink this cup of wine to celebrate our new friendship!"
Dae-Hyun then down his cup of wine in one go without waiting for Sol.
Sol was about to down his cup as well, however, something strange happened.
After Dae-Hyun finished his cup of wine, he slammed it down on the table but then took it up and lightly tap the table with it again.
The sound of this tap was different from the first, it was more high-pitched and long-lasting.
It was strange, but perhaps this was something Dae-Hyun always did when he drank wine... and was on his second cup??
Dae-Hyun then reached over and pushed the manual closer to Sol then said.
"Brother Sol, you can have this now."
Dae-Hyun tapped the manual two times as he said this. Sol’s eyes were drawn to where he tapped, and now that he looked at them, the words on the cover were written strangely.
But as Sol was looking at them, he suddenly heard three loud noises of something shattering behind him.
Sol spun around to see that a servant carrying a tray of dishes dropped three of them.
Another servant hurriedly ran to help the first, before they bowed towards the pavilion he and Dae-Hyun were in, after which they hurried off.
"I apologize for the disturbance, Brother Sol. How about another drink?"
Dae-Hyun said as he poured himself another cup of wine.
Strangely, Sol hadn’t drunk the first cup of wine he was given.
Dae-Hyun down his cup of wine, and did that thing again where he knock the table with his cup twice.
Sol instinctively was about to down his cup of wine similarly to Dae-Hyun, but as the cup reached his lips, Sol seemed to remember something and he asked.
"Oh, Brother Dae-Hyun, is it alright if I have time to think about the Martial Art Technique I wish to choose?"
Sol placed down his cup of wine.
From the position of the cup when it was at his lips, it was unclear if he had taken a sip or not.
