Chapter 82: Chapter 82- A Plan
Sol rushed towards Yoon-Jae and Mar-Dule.
When he reached he slammed the manual down on the table between them and asked.
"Who is the third Elder of the Huashan Sect?"
Sol couldn’t just directly ask about his Master, it seems from how the words were phrased, his Master wasn’t viewed in a good light.
Yoon-Jae and Mar-Dule were first surprised by Sol’s behavior, but Yoon-Jae looked down at the manual he slammed down on the table before saying.
"Oh, I see you’ve read this manual. I think most disciples have read this manual a few times."
Mar-Dule nodded at Yoon-Jae’s words.
"Who is the third Elder of the Huashan Sect?"
Sol asked again.
"It’s just like the manual says, he was once the twelfth Plum Blossom Saint of the Huashan Sect, and he went around Jianghu teaching young kids while disguising his appearance. So he was given the title Cheonma of the Orthodox Faction. However, he stopped several years ago when he found a disciple, Byeong-Ho."
Sol was focused on his Master, but he couldn’t help but be slightly surprised upon hearing this person was Byeong-Ho’s Master.
"You should also know that he’s one of the two people from the Huashan Sect with the position of Grand Elder in the Martial Alliance Academy."
Sol was further shocked by that.
’This Byeong-Ho, he must be free to learn as many Martial Skills as he wants.’
Sol felt it was a pity that he couldn’t learn any Martial Skills from his Master.
Speaking of his Master, Sol looked at Yoon-Jae and asked in a not-so-suspicious tone of voice.
"You said he was called the Cheonma of the Orthodox Faction, but who is Cheonma?"
Not realizing Sol’s emotions as he asked the question, Mar-Dule answered.
"I guess you wouldn’t know this, but there are, or used to be three powers in Jiangu. The Orthodox Faction, which consists of the Six Holy Sects and the Five Great Clans. The Unorthodox Faction that is now known as the Mercenary Association, and the worse one of all the Demonic Cult. However, they were thankfully destroyed by the Orthodox Faction after their leader Cheonma tried to take over Jianghu. To this day, even after so many years, the people of Jianghu still hold some animosity towards our Barbarian Race."
"Why is that?"
Mar-Dule’s face morphed into an ugly expression as he said.
"That’s because Cheonma was from our Barbarian Race. He claimed he was fighting for us, but we wanted nothing to do with him."
Sol tried not to show a reaction, but Yoon-Jae still looked at him strangely.
’That’s definitely Master. Is this why he didn’t want to talk about his past? But it looks like he let the name Cheonma slip, I wasn’t supposed to know.’
Sol soon felt complicated emotions rise in his heart after knowing this. From Mar-Dule’s reaction, it seems his Master wasn’t a good person in the past.
"Did he go around teaching students as well?"
Mar-Dule nodded.
"He would go around Jianghu to find disciples with strange and unique Innate Dharmas to recruit into his Demonic Cult. And these people would go on to wreak havoc in Jianghu, killing thousands as the ’Demonic Cult Leader’s twelve Disciples.’ Thus he was named the Demonic Teacher Cheonma."
This definitely matches what his Master always brags about.
Sol released an internal sigh, he didn’t know if he wanted to find out more about his Master’s past.
However, something confused him.
He remembered Seon telling him a year ago that the Six Holy Six and Five Great Clans joined forces to destroy the seventh Holy Sect.
Was this Demonic Cult that Seventh Sect?
"...Did this happen seven thousand years ago?"
Sol suddenly asked, but he saw that Yoon-Jae and Mar-Dule looked taken aback.
"Brother Sol, it was long ago but it wasn’t that far back, it was three hundred years ago. Perhaps you’re thinking of the Heavenly Sect that was once a Holy Sect, but was wiped out by the combined forces of the remaining Six Holy Sects."
Hearing this, Sol realized the Six Holy Sects had a pension for wiping out entire Factions.
After telling Sol this little fact, Yoon-Jae turned to Mar-Dule and said.
"However, Brother Mar-Dule, you say all that but was Cheonma truly evil? Some rumors did say that the Orthodox Faction embellished some of the things he did and painted him as a devil. Even the name ’Demonic Cult’ was created by them. Also, wasn’t Cheonma the person who developed the Barbarians’ Rune Techniques and helped built the foundation for what it is today? Perhaps you shouldn’t take the victor’s words as complete truth since they can rewrite history in their favor."
Mar-Dule hearing this frowned, but he didn’t deny Yoon-Jae’s words.
Sol turned to Yoon-Jae after he said all this, and he saw that he was giving him a smile.
Sol couldn’t tell if he said that because he had knowledge that his Master was Cheonma as well. That might be the case since he was the disciple of his Master’s sworn brother.
’Uncle Master might be related to the Demonic Cult as well.’
"Brother Sol, did you find any Martial Skills you’re interested in?"
Yoon-Jae asked and Sol came out of his thoughts to shake his head.
"I found a Bow Skill but that’s about it."
"Brother Sol, you’re going to choose the bow as your weapon?"
Mar-Dule wore a skeptical expression when he heard that. He could under a saber, but with Sol’s strength he chose a bow?
Sol smiled and said.
"The bow is the perfect weapon for me, I’m confident in my decision."
Mar-Dule gave up on convincing Sol when he heard that, but Yoon-Jae suddenly said.
"Since you chose a bow then the traditional thing to do is learn a Movement Skill. Archers usually avoid close combat, but... I really don’t think that’s an issue for you. Thinking about it like this, I suppose the bow is really the perfect weapon for you currently."
"I might not be afraid of one-on-one battles, but I still want a Movement Skill. The thing I currently lack is speed."
"Then you should purchase a Movement Skill from the Battle Pavilion."
"How much does it cost?"
"A Low-Level Mortal Realm Movement Skill is priced around Five Thousand low-grade Aether Stones."
Sol’s eyes widen when he heard that. He then flipped over his palm and took out two white stones that were glistening with a radiant white glow.
Aether in its purest form was emanating from this rock.
"Two mid-grade Aether Stones, is that all you have?"
Sol nodded sadly.
"But the academy gift its disciples a monthly allowance of one hundred mid-grade Aether Stones, and you also received another fifty from the Alchemy Pavilion as a specially recruited disciple. It’s only been around two weeks, how did you manage to only have two left?"
Sol scratched his cheek embarrassingly.
He didn’t want to admit that he was using mid-grade Aether Stones like they were low-grade Aether stones when he went to Central Mountain and bought snacks previously.
It was only after that he realized there was a difference in value between the two stones and he was scammed.
One mid-grade Aether Stone was equivalent to ten low-grade ones, so he lost a lot.
Changing to the topic, Sol said.
"I want to learn this Movement Skill called Heavenly Stride. Do you think I can get Byeong-Ho’s Master to teach it to me?"
Sol felt drawn to it because he liked the name.
If he learned it he would have his Heavenly Eyes and now Heavenly Stride. It felt like it was a sign for him to learn this Movement Skill.
However, Yoon-Jae suddenly snickered and said.
"Good luck with that, this Movement Skill is said to be one of the best in Jianghu. It’s also said that he only ever taught Byeong-Ho this Movement Skill."
Sol showed a dejected expression upon hearing that.
However, upon remembering that they would be visiting the Huashan Sect tomorrow, a plan began to form in Sol’s mind.
He then reread the description of Byeong-Ho’s Master once more before asking curiously.
"Why did he go around teaching kids? Why didn’t he just teach the disciples in the Huashan Sect?"
"That’s because he’s not on good terms with the Huashan Sect, rumors say that he left the position as Grand Elder in the academy, although he still has the title. And it was said he had an interest in finding talented children so he would roam around Jinghua. That’s how he found Byeong-Ho in an orphanage in the slums. Or that’s how the story goes."
Sol went silent after listening to Yoon-Jae.
’He likes teaching talented disciples? I’m talented. The Heavenly Stride doesn’t sound like a Movement Skill from the Huashan Sect as well. Perhaps... Perhaps I can find him if I went to Huashan Sect, then I can show off my talent somehow and get him to teach me the Movement Skill!’
