Chapter 349: Chapter 349- Issuing Some Challenges
The fact that this handsome Senior Brother could be friends with Young Master Yoon-Jae of the Kunlun Sect and Mar-Dule the Young Tribe Leader of the Barbarian Race, must mean he was someone noteworthy. This was along with the fact that he had achieved the Spiritual Realm at such a young age.
However, as disciples started to whisper to each other trying to find out this kind Senior Brother’s identity, everyone quickly started to realize they didn’t know who he was.
This wasn’t a surprise.
Even though Sol had made waves in the Academy by successfully climbing the Heavenly Staircase before going on to making waves in the entire Eastern Region as a whole by clashing with Byeong-Ho, that was over half a year ago, almost reaching one year in a few months.
After news of his involvement in Geon-Soo’s death died down, Sol was in the Eternal Desert during that time. With him going dark, people slowly moved from asking ’where is that person who fought on equal terms with Byeong-Ho,’ to just not asking about him at all.
First-year disciples who entered the Academy at the start of the year had a lesser impression of Sol. And though the second-year and third-years were in the Academy when Sol’s name spread, most of them didn’t know how he looked just that he was extremely good-looking.
But which Young Master from the Holy Sects and Great Clans weren’t good-looking?
This was just how the world worked.
If one was not achieving notable feats, they would get buried by other geniuses. That was even more so in this generation considering the amount geniuses there were.
Well, perhaps if the girls here weren’t mostly first-year disciples but rather second-year or third-year disciples, then one of them would have recognized Sol, and it would have been immediate.
As the disciples were quietly discussing the possibilities of Sol’s identity, Sol smiled faintly.
’It’s okay if I’m no longer as popular in the Academy, I guess it’s better if I remain low-profile considering my relationship with the Ibbian Mountain Range.’
As Sol thought this, his eyes suddenly glittered like stars.
The disciple from the Church no longer challenged the disciple from the Weapon Innate Dharma Pavilion after being knocked off the stage a few times.
The disciple from the Weapon Innate Dharma Pavilion wore an extremely smug expression as he held his head high and went to walk off the stage.
With eyes shining, Sol was about to fly down to snitch that stage, however, he suddenly hesitated.
"Mar-Dule, does the Academy forbid us from lowering our cultivation bases and battling Mortal Realm cultivators? I want to get back onto the Rankings."
Sol didn’t have to check to figure out if he had fallen from his position on the Earth Arena Rankings and Mortal Arena Rankings, he surely had.
Hearing Sol’s question, Mar-Dule responded.
"Oh, do you want to go on the Ranking just to fight, or do you want to really climb the Rankings? As of now, you don’t have to be on the Rankings to fight. One of the changes the Academy made was that any disciple could challenge someone in the Martial Hall Pagoda. The catch is that the challengers must place down a fee, either a treasure or some Aether Stones. If the challenger wins, they keep their treasure or Aether Stone. But if the opponent wins, they get to keep the treasure or Aether Stones. Do you understand?"
Sol nodded, his golden pupils with tinges of red on their edges shone even more.
"So you’re saying as long I make the rewards for beating me worth it, I can get people to fight me? This is even better."
Sol suddenly floated off the railing.
Seeing this, Mar-Dule hurriedly said.
"No wait, Sol! Are you planning on fighting in the Mortal Arena? Why? Everyone here is in the Mortal Realm. You can go to the Heaven Arena instead and challenge those on the Heaven Rankings if you want. Essentially, the academy has gotten rid of the old ranking method where you need to progress step by step. They made it into a free-for-all all where anyone can issue a challenge to someone on any of ranking as long as they have the strength."
Sol paused, but he soon shook his head.
"Since no one remembers me then that means the disciples from the Six Holy Sects and Five Great Clans probably aren’t on guard and aren’t hiding their breathing patterns anymore. Plus, the higher one’s cultivation, the more natural it is to hide such things, so it’s best to fight those in the Mortal Realm. The same goes for the Royals and those from the Church."
When Yoon-Jae and Mar-Dule heard that, they both shook their heads.
"So that’s what you were planning by coming here."
Yoon-Jae said, and Sol turned to give him a toothy grin. Afterward, his figure flew towards the stage.
The disciple from the Weapon Innate Dharma Pavilion had just jumped off the stage, and a few disciples were about to rush on to fight over it.
If one deeply pondered about it, these disciples were essentially about to fight with each other over who got to fight on this stage first.
It was ridiculous really; the Martial Hall was simply a complete mess.
However, before any of these rowdy disciples could get onto the stage, they all felt a heavy pressure descending from up above that left them shivering.
This wasn’t the normal pressure they felt from the Formation, this pressure was terrifyingly real.
The frightened disciples all looked up, but they could barely see Sol’s shadow as he landed on stage.
The disciples all looked at Sol as he cupped his fists and bowed apologetically before saying.
"My sincere apologies fellow disciples, but I’d like to issue some challenges of my own."
When the disciples around this stage heard that, they showed bewildered expressions.
Of course, they weren’t surprised to see a Spiritual Realm disciple who was like an Elder in the academy here in the Mortal Arena, but it was their first time seeing one issue a challenge.
Did this person not realize there were only Mortal Realm cultivators here? Did he perhaps forget that he had already entered the Spiritual Realm or something?
Seeing their reactions, Sol smiled and said.
"My fellow disciples, don’t worry. I’ll be suppressing my cultivation down to the Mortal Realm. The rewards for challenging me will also be good."
The disciples around the stage were still skeptical of Sol’s words, why would he do something like this? Did he just want to bully them with his cultivation base? However, some disciples did have thoughtful looks on their faces.
Meanwhile, Sol was busy making the disciples question reality, something had happened just as Sol lefted the balcony.
A few third-year disciples among the crowd had heard Mar-Dule call Sol by his name, and their eyes went wide while they gasped in astonishment.
When the other disciples saw this, they began asking questions and soon everyone started to realize this kind Senior Brother was that person who had fought against Byeong-Ho all those months ago.
The disciple who had received the two dumplings from Sol had made his way over here and was listening to Mar-Dule’s explanation. When he heard who Sol was, he was astounded beyond belief.
Similarly, the disciple whom Sol had seen through was shocked.
"So that was Senior Brother Sol? No wonder! Didn’t it say back then that he had pale skin and hair that looked like a lion’s mane?"
"That’s right, he was also known for wearing those black bracelets around his wrists and ankles, and I saw them. No doubt that was the legendary Senior Brother Sol! The Descending Dragon of Jianghu!!"
Yoon-Jae and Mar-Dule glanced at each other to see the helpless look in each other’s eyes. It might seem like people had forgotten about Sol, but in truth, his name was getting placed higher and higher in people’s hearts as time passed.
"I can’t believe we were so close to such a figure, and he had even been so kind to us. If I told someone of this then they’ll never believe me!"
As the excitement of the disciples grew, the louder and louder they became.
However, Mar-Dule suddenly glared at them.
"Hey, keep that information right here. If it spreads and ruins Sol’s plan, then it’s on all of you."
Immediately, all the disciples in this area clamped their mouths. The disciples some distance away who had picked up on the commotion and were asking questions only got silence from the disciples and a shake of their heads.
The disciples who were left out of the news of Sol’s return were confused, but quickly went back to watching the battles below. However, the ones in the know could barely keep their excitement inside.
Especially after hearing Mar-Dule’s words.
They had all remembered rumors about how Sol had learned the Wudang Sect’s Eight Trigrams Palm Technique by just watching a disciple use it.
That was just one of his many accolades one would mention when they talked about him, and it had become somewhat of a legend, with some disciples even believing it was just embellished stories.
However, now these disciples were hearing that he was going to perform that feat once again!
Just how can they not squirm in excitement?
