Chapter 242: Chapter 242- Shouldn’t Be Surprised
Mar-Dule was half convinced Sol was a Spiritual Cultivator at this point, especially after witnessing his battle with Elder Hyun-Joo.
"I’m far from that level, I haven’t even finished opening the acupoints in my left leg."
"That means our cultivations are around the same, but you seem so much stronger than me."
Sol turned to look at Mar-Dule and smiled knowingly.
"You can’t fool me, I’m sure you wouldn’t have done worse than me against Elder Hyun-Joo."
Mar-Dule smirked but admitted.
"Sure I have some hidden trump cards like everyone does, but I don’t have your regenerative abilities to freely use them without worrying about the backlash. Even thought you almost died, you managed to survive your battle with Elder Hyun-Joo, but I would have surely lost this little life of mine."
Sol turned back to look at the steel ’Tribe’ as he said.
"When I’m around don’t be afraid to go all out. I can just heal you right after. Think of it as a benefit of being my friend."
Mar-Dule couldn’t help but laugh when he heard that. He then flipped over his hand and took out several dakkochi that he shared with Sol.
Sol realized that Mar-Dule giving away his food was equivalent to him expressing his utmost thanks and appreciation.
Sol happily took the skewed meats and the two ate as the boat got closer to the tribe.
The only reason Sol was able to be this relaxed was because there was hope in getting the Hellfire Grass pretty quickly.
He couldn’t enjoy the Eternal Desert fully because his head wasn’t in the right mental space for that, but maybe after he received the Hellfire Grass and cured Little Zeel they could come back here together.
After a few minutes, the tribe was just up ahead.
But honestly, Sol couldn’t call this a tribe, it was more like a City. And with the buildings inside the wall being made of this steel-like material, the same as the wall and tower, it was better to call this Steel City.
"Mar-Dule, this tribe wouldn’t happen to be called Steel Tribe would it?"
Mar-Dule paused.
"How did you know?"
Sol wanted to laugh, but he expected this.
"Apart from the Steel Tribe, there is also the Earth Tribe on the outskirts of the Eternal Desert where we just passed. Both have several different branches scattered throughout their own regions, while the last Safe Zone that’s deep inside the Eternal Desert is where my family resides, the Bloodline Tribe. We are called that because we’re the direct descendants of ancestor Mar-Tu."
Hearing those names, Sol forced a smile.
"You really are the descendants of the Giant Race with that simpleminded approach to everything."
Abdu said.
With his mouthful, Mar-Dule responded.
"Simple good, complicated bad."
Sol chuckled at that. He then asked.
"Do the other tribes make their homes out of steel?"
"No, this is the only steel structure in the Eternal Desert. Well, there are a few more but unfortunately, they’re in the Heat Zones."
"Is the steel not affected by the heat?"
Mar-Dule shook his head.
"No, it actually helps by reducing it. Father wanted to have our entire Barbarian Race united as one inside one of these steel cities, but unfortunately, that’s impossible."
"Why is it impossible?"
Mar-Dule swallowed the meat in his mouth before responding.
"I know I said my father was strong, but there are just some things in this world that he can’t go against, and one of them is the Eternal Desert."
"???"
Sol was confused by that, but Mar-Dule explained.
"It’s like the Eternal Desert has a mind of its own. I don’t know how to explain it really, but there are times when the entire Eternal Desert would tremble and Father would need to leave for days or even months on end. The trembling would stop by the time he came back, and when I was little I would always ask about the shaking, but he would answer..."
Mar-Duel lowered his voice for this part.
"...’The Eternal Desert is shaking out of fear so I had to calm it down.’ Or something along those lines."
Sol titled his head. He was even more confused than before.
"He also said the Eternal Desert doesn’t like it when we congregate, so we have to remain separated like this."
Abdu’s eyes narrowed when he heard that, and he looked up at the sky.
"Okay, I understand the reason why you can’t be united, but wouldn’t it be better to build this steel city for the other tribes?"
A sad expression appeared on Mar-Dule’s face.
"That’s another issue. We didn’t just lose our bloodline, but half of our entire lineage of knowledge. We only have our Runic Techniques now."
"You lost the knowledge of blacksmithing?"
Mar-Dule nodded.
Sol paused. Now that he thought about it, Rune Inscription and Blacksmithing were complimentary. He glanced at his bracelets. His Master had said they were likely crafted by someone with a high knowledge of blacksmithing and rune inscription.
’Wait, could these be created by someone of the Giant Race?’
However, Sol’s thoughts were interrupted by Abdu saying.
"Seems like someone wanted to cripple the Giant Race."
Mar-Dule’s eyes flashed.
"That’s what Father said, but he has no idea who would have to power to wipe away an entire Race’s bloodline and deep lineage of blacksmithing knowledge. But maybe it was an Immortal."
Abdu shook his head.
"It wasn’t an Immortal, but a God."
"What? A God?"
Mar-Dule looked at Abdu in shock.
"Brat, ask your Father how he would go about crippling Jianghu and the Land of Shadows if he had to."
"Divide them, take away the source of their strength, and destroy their past. But that’s not just how you cripple a group of people, but an entire Race."
Sol said, and Mar-Dule felt a cold chill go down his spine.
"Let’s not talk about this anymore."
As Abdu said that, Sol recalled what happened inside Immortal Dai Shen’s Pavilion. Where that Heavenly Aura had made its presence known.
Sol had been feeling it ever since he entered the Eternal Desert, that’s why his Holy Crest sun tattoo was agitated.
The only difference was that this power was dormant.
The boat slowed down upon reaching the steel walls, and two burly men flew up to meet them.
"Haha, Young Master Mar-Dule, you’re back from Jianghu!"
Mar-Dule smiled.
"I’m just visiting home for a moment, I’ll be staying here and leaving at nightfall."
"No, problem!"
The burly men then moved toward the wall and formed a few hand seals. Numerous runes appeared on the steel walls before a small gap opened up for the boat to enter through.
As the boat was traveling through the gap, Sol turned to one of the large burly men and said.
"It’s really better if you use a Fire-type Rune and overlap it with the Metal-type Rune that’s in your left shoulder. Your Runic Circuit would flow much better and some balance would return to your Runic Physique as well."
The burly man’s expression instantly changed when he heard that, and he and his friend next to him looked at Sol with wide eyes.
They weren’t speaking the Arkadians’ language but their own. However, Sol being able to speak their language wasn’t what shocked them. It wasn’t even the fact that he had just corrected the Runic Circuit inside this burly man’s body.
For members of the Barbarian Race, they had to create their own Runic Body Techniques and form Runic Circuits inside their bodies to cultivate. But it wasn’t uncommon for them to ask for advice from friends or a Master if they had one.
So what truly shocked this burly man and his friend was that they were having an argument a few minutes ago, about whether he should use a Earth Rune or Fire-type Rune to try and improve his Runic Circuit.
From Sol’s words, why did it sound like he was listening to their conversations and was now giving his input?
Their conversation ended long before the boat was anywhere near them.
"See! I told you! Even Young Master’s friend agrees!"
The friend of the burly man suddenly turned and yelled at him.
The boat fully entered the gap, cutting off the rest of the friend’s yelling.
Mar-Dule who was staring at Sol with a strange expression wanted to say something, but at this point, he shouldn’t be surprised by Sol’s abilities.
Even if Sol suddenly said he could fly, he shouldn’t be surprised.
