Chapter 195: Chapter 195- A Knock At The Door
Cheong-Su walked through the streets of Pearl City towards a large Inn that had a massive sign with "Blue Sea" written on it in bold letters.
Being that this area was the wealthier part of Pearl City, this Inn was by no means ordinary.
It was a twelve-story behemoth that radiated luxury in every inch of its structure. They boasted about their indoor and outdoor hot springs as well as their excellent cuisine and customer service.
Simply put, if you’re poor then look away from this place.
Even people who called themselves ’wealthy’ would have to sacrifice an arm and a leg to get a room here.
Upon entering the Blue Sea Inn, Cheong-Su made his way past the staff and other occupants of the Inn toward the top floor.
"Hey, did you hear about what happened during the auction yesterday?"
"Which one? You have to be specific, with the chaos happening in Pearl City more and more auctions have been popping up!"
"I’m talking about the auction where Patriarch Park and Patriarch Lam almost fought over a Tier 6 medicinal herb!"
"Seriously? Both of them are Clan Leaders of two of the top four Clans in Pearl City. To think a day like this would come where they would be fighting over a Tier 6 medicinal plant."
Cheong-Su walked past two staff members who were gossiping about the situation in Pearl City.
From the looks of it, they were mortals. But this wasn’t uncommon, these types of establishments usually hire Mortals to run their businesses rather than Cultivators.
If it wasn’t obvious why this was the case, then let’s just say it was much cheaper to hire Mortals than cultivators that might want exorbitant amounts of cultivation resources for working.
Cheong-Su paused and turned to the two staff members.
"Excuse me, can you bring food and wine to room thirty-two?"
One of the staff members who was an average-looking young man hurriedly spun around and bowed to Cheong-Su.
He did it so quickly that it looked rather scary. Then with the biggest smile on his face, he said.
"Of course, sir. I will bring the wine and food immediately."
Cheong-Su smiled and nodded.
The young man watched Cheong-Su leave before his face broke into an excited grin, which turned into loud belly laughter.
"Bastard, how dare you!"
The young man’s friend suddenly yelled before playfully shoving him.
"Haha, you should have reacted faster. I wonder how much I’ll receive in tips from such a rich person."
The young man’s friend grumbled in indignation as the two made their way down the stairs of the floor.
In room thirty-two Sol, Yoon-Jae, Mar-Dule, Byeong-Ho, and Cheong-San were inside.
Little Zeel and Abdu were lying on the bed.
Sol was shirtless while he lazily lay on the bed as well. The excessive redness of his skin was noticeable, and steam was coming off his hair. His gaze was focused on the ceiling while a blank look was on his face.
"Sol, get up. Your hair is soaking the sheets."
Yoon-Jae turned to him and said.
It’s been four days since they left the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension, and Sol had become like this.
He looked unmotivated and soul-less... or rather, Sol-less, haha.
...sorry.
Cheong-San had suggested he use the hot springs to recuperate, but he still seemed out of it.
Sol sat up and looked at Yoon-Jae.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, help me dry my hair."
Yoon-Jae sighed.
He then unfurled his folded arms and walked over to Sol. Flipping over his hand he took out a small towel from his storage ring and threw it over Sol’s head.
Sol’s shoulders slumped as Yoon-Jae aggressively rubbed his hair dry.
"What’s with you? It’s not like you to be acting like this. What did you talk to that bastard about after we left?"
Sol shook his head.
"It’s not related to that... kind of. I’ll be fine soon, I just feel tired."
"Why don’t we get something to eat, maybe food will cheer you up?"
"I ordered food, it should be up soon."
Everyone turned to see Cheong-Su entering the room.
"Brother, did you get information on what’s happening in the City?"
"Yeah, I find out the reason why it’s in so much chaos. Turns out it isn’t just because the Dimension won’t open, but a couple of weeks back, a black light swept over nearly half the City. It caused every cultivator who came into contact with it to be unable to use their cultivations for a few days."
"Something like that happened?"
Mar-Dule asked in surprise.
Cheong-Su took a chair from one of the tables in the room and walked over to the others while adding.
"Also, that’s not the exciting part, it’s that this phenomenon occurred just as the Academy was about to fix the Multidimensional Teleportation Array. When the black light swept over it, it delayed them for half a month."
Cheong-San chimed in.
"Could that have been Second Brother’s doing?"
"It’s highly likely. It coincides with the message we got while we were in the Hundred Plants and Herbs dimension."
Cheong-San’s expression suddenly became downcast.
"We haven’t heard anything from Second Brother. What if he’s-"
Cheong-Su cuts off his brother.
"Don’t think like that. Second Brother wouldn’t go down so easily. And if he did, he would have let us know."
Despite his brother’s words of comfort, Cheong-San didn’t seem to feel any better.
"First it was Eldest Brother and Third Brother, now it’s Second Brother. I could understand why Eldest Brother made his decision, but why did Third Brother choose to stay when that’s not like him?"
Cheong-Su folded his hands before making a guess.
"I think he stayed so he can get Eldest Brother to come back to his senses."
"But I wish things didn’t end like this."
Byeong-Ho had regained his left arm and eye. Turning to Cheong-Su with his arms folded he said.
"It was best Third Brother stayed inside the dimension."
Cheong-Su and Cheong-San turned to look at him.
"Byeong-Ho’s right."
Yoon-Jae suddenly added as he finished drying Sol’s hair. Turning to Cheong-Su and Cheong-San, he explained.
"Imagine if he had came out with his Immortal blade? From what we know, it couldn’t be stored in any storage ring or storage bag. At least Byeong-Ho has the Huashan Sect and his Master. His Immortal sword could just be passed off as a gift from either one. But it’s not the same for Heon-Tae."
When thinking about it like that, it did make sense.
Cheong-Su reached over and patted his brother’s back to comfort him. Afterward, he said.
"I also found out a bit more about what’s going on in the City."
"Let me guess, the prices for medicinal plants and herbs have sky-rocket."
Yoon-Jae said and Cheong-Su nodded.
"The price for a mere Tier 1 medicinal plant is now a few hundred low-grade Aether Stones!"
Low-grade Aether Stones weren’t seen as extremely valuable under normal circumstances, so what Cheong-Su said might not sound shocking to those outside Pearl City.
However, when compared to the prices of Tier 1 medicinal plants previously, which was around a handful of low-grade Aether Stones, the ridiculousness of how significant the inflation for medicinal plants was could be seen.
"How about the situation with the Academy? Have there been any news on when they’re gonna let us leave?"
Cheong-Su shook his head.
"They’re increasing the security at the exits. I don’t think they’re planning on letting anyone leave anytime soon."
"That’s not fair, aren’t we disciples of the Academy? Why are we being trapped here as well?"
Everyone turned to look at Mar-Dule.
Of course, under normal circumstances, they would allow people of their status to leave, but this involved the Hundred Plants and Herbs dimension.
The Multidimensional Teleportation Array was fixed, but the dimension was completely sealed off. And then there was the death of their Elders inside the dimension.
They weren’t willing to make an exception for anyone leaving, not until they got to the bottom of what was happening.
"You better be thankful some of us are such high-profile individuals. I’m sure the other Academy disciples are being questioned right now. Even having their storage bags and storage rings being searched."
Mar-Dule felt a chill go down his spine when he heard that and instinctively drew his hand that had his storage ring on it close.
Sol had laid back down on the bed and was rubbing a sleeping Little Zeel’s fur nearby. Right after he looked down at the storage ring on his right index finger.
His face didn’t give away what he was thinking about, but he was undoubtedly thinking about something.
Sitting up, Sol looked at everyone and said.
"Why don’t we take advantage of this situation?"
Everyone paused their conversation that had moved on from Pearl City to look at Sol.
"What do mean?"
Yoon-Jae asked.
"I mean about the inflation of medicinal plants. We-"
Knock!
Knock!
Knock!
A sudden knock at the front door interrupted Sol.
