Chapter 140: Chapter 140- The Past And Present Collides (BC)

"Little Abdu, you really don’t know what an Innate Dharma is?"

"I told you, I only know a few things from those that came here previously. But even then before I could ask questions, those people started killing each other as soon as they teleported here and saw the Inheritance."

Sol paused entering the teleportation array and raised his hand.

"Here, I’ll show you what an Innate Dharma looks like."

Soon Sol’s seedling appeared above his palm in bright green light.

Abdu looked at this seedling with immense curiosity but still said.

"Brat, it looks rather unimpressive."

Sol immediately defended with.

"It might look weak now, but it’s a growth type Innate Dharma, it’ll become way stronger in the future!"

The small sprout from the seedling suddenly swayed, as if to show off its enthusiasm and confirm Sol’s words.

Sol smiled and used his finger to rub the seedling.

The seed itself was tangible, but the small sprout from it was illusory albeit it looked real.

With this, the seedling could be considered half tangible and half incorporeal.

"A growth type? Are there other people with this type of Innate Dharma?"

"No, my Innate Dharma is likely one-of-kind."

Sol said this proudly.

"Of course it is, I expected nothing less. But I assume others’ Innate Dharmas aren’t all seedlings?"

"No, well, maybe."

Sol then shortly explained the different types of Innate Dharmas that one could awaken. But he didn’t go in-depth about them.

Looking at the seedling, Abdu then asked.

"To think cultivation would become so complex. Is this a good thing?"

"Little Abdu, if no one had Innate Dharmas how did people in the past cultivate to become an Immortal?"

Abdu sat lazily on Sol’s head as he explained.

"You humans absorb Aether in the surroundings and try to open your Heavenly Palaces. Those who successfully open it with one thousand years of Aether becomes a Transcendent, and those who opened it with more than a thousand years’ worth becomes an Immortal existence. It’s the same for us Divine Beasts."

"Wah-What?"

Sol was astounded, but to make sure he wasn’t mistaken he clarified.

"Little Abdu, what are the other Realms before opening the Heavenly Palace? There are other Realms before reaching that stage, right?"

"Of course, those who amass a hundred years’ worth of Aether are called Intermediate Masters. Those who have between one hundred and five hundred years’ worth of Aether are called Martial Masters, and those beyond five hundred years but below one thousand years are called Grandmasters."

Sol felt his world actively turning upside down. These people went straight to opening their Heavenly Palaces?

’What? That’s... What...?’

Sol couldn’t think straight.

"Little Abdu, didn’t a lot of people die when they try to open their Heavenly Palace like this?"

"The success rate was 1/100 so there were fewer Transcendents and even lesser Immortals."

’Well of course the success rate would be that ridiculous, since they didn’t even know about the Mortal Palace and Spiritual Palace!’

After crying out internally, Sol asked aloud.

"Little Abdu, what was your cultivation before you were injured?"

"I was a Transcendent, but because of my bloodline I didn’t fear Immortals."

Sol could hear the pride in his Abdu’s voice, but he could only feel slight pity. But he was questioning whether his conjecture was right.

Seeing Sol’s silence, Abdu asked.

"What is your Era’s equivalent to a Transcendent, or is it the same?"

"I’m not sure, I haven’t reached that realm yet."

Abdu tilted his head in confusion when he heard that.

"How can you not know the cultivation realms? Doesn’t your Academy teach you? I thought those things were created to make cultivation more accessible?"

"Ah, well, yes and no. My Master said it’s common to not focus on the upper realms of cultivation unless you’ve reached that point."

"What is this nonsense I’m hearing; how can such a counter-intuitive thing be common?"

Sol hearing this suddenly realized not knowing the cultivation realms despite being a cultivator sounds extremely strange from a certain standpoint. So he explained.

"Little Abdu, I think it’s due to the difference in the past and present. Cultivation back then was simple and lack nuances, but as cultivation developed, more nuances were added to the point knowing too much could be detrimental to your cultivation."

Abdu was like a boomer, unconvinced of this newer generation’s absurd norms.

"How many realms do you currently have for such a thing to be common? And what realm are you in?"

"I’m in the Mortal Realm. In this realm we open our acupoints and widened our meridians so that we can unlock our Mortal Palaces. Afterwards, we enter the Spiritual Realm and through our open acupoints we absorb and store Aether to unlock-"

"Huh? Wait! Brat, what is a Mortal Palace?"

"Oh... uhm... it’s the first Palace located right here."

Sol said pointing at the position slightly below his navel.

A look of shock and confusion slowly appeared in Abdu’s wide eyes.

"Little Abdu, are you oka-?"

"You mean to tell me..."

Abdu’s body trembled.

"...there was a Mortal Palace?"

"There is also a Spiritual Palace, but I think-"

"What?!"

Abdu couldn’t help crying out in shock.

However, his eyes suddenly narrowed, and he stood up on Sol’s head.

"Little Abdu, what are you doing?"

With closed eyes, Abdu replied grimly.

"I’m abolishing my cultivation."

"What?! No!"

Sol began to panic.

"Don’t stop me brat, I can’t just continue cultivating when I just discovered I’ve been doing it wrong this entire time!"

"No, wait Little Abdu, at least wait until we leave this dimension."

Abdu paused his actions and opened his eyes. Then looking down at Sol he asked

"Why?"

"I need your help. There are Spirit Beasts in the Inner Court."

"You’re planning on exploring the Inner Court?"

Sol nodded.

Abdu thought for a moment then sat back down on Sol’s head.

"Fine, I’ll help you out when you enter that place. Afterwards, I’ll restart my cultivation from scratch."

Even though they were already in the Inner Court by being in this Palace, there was actually a place further inside the dimension Sol discovered in those books.

Su Moon’s Palace was only one of the few Immortal Palaces that was on the outskirts of the Inner Court. Another Palace was deeper inside that once belonged to the actual owner of this Dimension, a more powerful Immortal called Dai Shen.

Sol smiled and rubbed Abdu’s forehead.

"Thanks, Little Abdu."

Abdu allowed Sol to pet him for a second then swatted his hand away.

Sol turned to look at the dragon mural that was waiting to teleport them.

Before entering, Sol commented.

"Little Abdu, I think the situation might be different for you. You said you were born with all of your acupoints open, so that means your Mortal Palace was already open. And if you had cultivated by gathering that much Aether, then your Spiritual Palace would have open too. You don’t need to restart your cultivation."

Abdu who was laying down, suddenly lifted his head and said.

"That’s right, you said you had to open the acupoints in your body, that’s strange. My acupoints being open from birth isn’t a rare thing that’s due to my bloodline or me being a Divine Beast, it was the same for humans as well."

"What?"

Sol’s body froze before he could step into the teleportation light.
