Sol was forced to retrieve his hand and stood upright.

The Nian beast retracted the arm and returned to its unassuming appearance of a cute little cat.

It tapped Sol on the forehead with its paw before saying casually.

"Lay down in the middle of the room."

Sol complied and walked to the middle of the room before laying down on his back.

The Nian beast walked over to his chest and sat down.

It then looked at Sol who was wearing a placid expression before saying.

"I have to admit kid you’re extremely smart... and wise, you’re wise too."

The Nian beast paused to clean the fur on his paw before rubbing it behind its ear.

"...And know that I’m not talking about the type of cleverness you obtain from having many life experiences, but a type of intelligence that only a generational genius could have. I’ve only ever seen one other person like you before, so, are you the son of some big shot in the outside world?"

Sol shook his head.

"You’re not?"

"No, I don’t have any parents in the outside world."

"So you’re an orphan then? But you must have a Master, right? I heard you mentioned you have one."

Sol nodded his head.

"Any family besides your parents?"

Sol shook his head.

"What about a lover, do you have one?"

Sol paused for a moment but eventually shook his head.

While cleaning his fur some more, the Nian beast asked again.

"Was that your friend you sent away? Aside from him how many do you have?"

Sol inhaled a deep breath and then answered.

"Two, as well my pet beast I consider a brother."

The Nian beast paused cleaning his fur and looked at Sol curiously.

"Either you’re answering me honestly or you can tell a lie without having any fluctuations in your heartbeat."

Sol smiled bitterly, the first time his expression changed from a placid one.

"Do I have a choice other than to answer truthfully?"

"That’s true."

The Nian beast said this as it stood up and suddenly began stretching its front legs by sticking its butt in the air.

Afterward, it walked over to Sol’s face before placing its paw under his eye and pulling to see his pupils better.

"Sol, was it? Do you know why I’m asking you these seemingly random questions?"

"No."

"Well, aren’t you curious?"

Sol went silent for a moment then nodded.

"Okay then, let me tell you. I’m planning on using your body to resurrect the person I lost. Thankfully, you didn’t absorb the Legacy Rune fully, if you had then it would have been harder to complete the process."

"You... You did all of this to resurrect someone? The trial, chasing me around pretending you’re after the Legacy Rune, all of it?"

The Nian beast’s vertical pupils twinkled when he sensed the confusion in Sol’s voice.

He was waiting for this moment for a while, to see how this brat would react when he realized he was simply dancing on its palm this entire time.

"Well, of course you’re confused, after all, you fell for such an obvious trap. Compared to the people I had to deal with in the past and a brat like you, they would have easily seen through my acting."

In truth, the Nian beast didn’t just have a small control over the Grand Formation Array to create illusions as Sol thought.

It had full control of it, and that was without having the Legacy Rune itself.

Now that Sol thought about it, with the time the Nian beast had inside this Palace and even before then, it shouldn’t be a surprise that it was this familiar with the Formation.

But Sol was confused.

If it had control over the Grand Formation Array, it essentially debunked the entire theory he had told Yoon-Jae before.

What truly happened inside this Palace?

Why were Su Jin and his family dead, weren’t they kill by this thing?

But after killing them, why did it stay in this Palace and why did it create the entire murder mystery to begin with?

Then it hit Sol.

"You were searching for a specific person to inherit the Legacy Rune to resurrect this person you lost?"

The Nian beast titled its head.

"See, you’re one smart little brat. Unlike those fools who came here from those low-class Clans and Sects, you’ll make the perfect host."

Four arms appeared out of the Nian beast’s back to hold down Sol by his arms and legs before he could move.

Sol glared at Nian beast.

"To resurrect this friend you lured Su Jin into Peace Lake Village by killing all those children. Then after Su Moon came to save him you stole his identity."

The Nian beast seemed to frown at Sol’s words.

"You don’t know what you’re talking about brat."

"You then spent several years trying to take Su Moon’s Legacy, but after Su Jin finally confronted you and you found out he had tampered with the Grand Formation Array you killed him, his Mother, and even that little girl. You’re a monster and murderer."

The Nian beast went deathly quiet but Sol stared at it without blinking.

Sol was just about to remove the second bracelet to escape the Nian beast’s hold. If taking off two wasn’t enough then he would take off three, or even all four.

He had no other choice, it was either that or Sol could die here.

However, just as Sol was about to go through with his plan, the Nian beast suddenly let out a peal of uproarious laughter.

"Kid, you definitely don’t know what you’re talking about. I’ve been called a monster all my life by you humans, but not once have I retaliated to satiate the hatred I have for all of you. Those fools who came here lusting after my friend’s Rune is the first humans I had ever killed."

Sol’s expression froze.

"The friend you’re talking about, the one you want to resurrect... is Su Moon?"

"Pfft!"

The Nian beast tried its hardest to hold back its laughter but it really couldn’t.

Looking at the Nian beast laughing, Sol realize its personality was a bit different from what he had imagined.

"Kid, I take back what I said. You’re smart but you lack far too much in other areas to use that intelligence effectively. The friend I lost wasn’t Su Moon, it was Su Jin."

Sol’s brows immediately furrowed at that.
