The Growth of a Titan -
Chapter 124- In Danger
Chapter 124: Chapter 124- In Danger
"...In a situation like that Brother Yoon-Jae, I believe Su Jin waited until he was older to confront the Nian beast. He went into the office that day knowing he had changed the Grand Formation Array so if he died the Nian beast would be trapped here. But to protect his little sister and mother, he ordered the first servant to tell his mother what was happening. It wasn’t a coincidence those two servants were from the Peace Lake Village, Su Jin recruited them because of their hatred for the Nian beast. If anyone would believe him, it was those who suffered from the Nian beast. But... Su Jin failed. He must have doubted his Father being the Nian beast during the crucial moment."
Yoon-Jae sat there and listen to Sol’s explanation in silence.
Soon he raised his head and asked.
"How do you know all of this, and when did you figure it out? Was it back in that room before I fell asleep? You were acting strange then."
Sol nodded.
"Most of what I explain is just assumptions, but I’m 90% sure I’m correct. As for when I started to suspect Su Moon, it was when I couldn’t read a book in the office. I realized this place could be an illusion, but the illusion was stronger in the office than it was anywhere else in the Palace. I think that’s because the books in the office had information about the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension, and the Nian beast wanted us to believe this place was somewhere else."
"Wait..."
Yoon-Jae suddenly held up his hand.
"So we’re still in the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension?"
Sol nodded.
"These separate dimensions like the Hundred Plants and Herbs Dimension are the homes of Immortal Deities from ancient times. I think its residences are separated into the Outer Court, the Middle Court, and the Inner Court. The more powerful Deities live in the Inner Court and have a Palace for themselves as well as a territory outside the Dimension."
"Are we in the Inner Court?"
"Most likely, and the teleportation array we came through was reserved for servants, that’s why the Grand Formation Array changed our clothes to a servant’s own and suppressed our cultivations. It’s actually amazing, the Deity who created this Formation Array made it self-learning! It-"
Yoon-Jae suddenly held up his hand once again before Sol could start spewing praises for this Formation Array.
After sighing, Yoon-Jae asked.
"Did you find this out in those books?"
Sol nodded.
"Well, do they say how we can get out?"
Sol was sitting cross-legged and he smiled from ear to ear as he tapped on the ground.
"I led us here for a reason!"
The blue rune on the back of Sol’s hand glowed faintly before the ground suddenly burst with radiant blue light.
Soon the carving of a dragon, like the mural in the office, appeared on the dust-covered ground.
"It’s a main teleportation array to leave the Palace so it uses more of the Grand Formation Array’s energy, but it’s still able to teleport about a dozen people."
After saying this, Sol got up and went to leave the teleportation area.
Yoon-Jae frowned at this.
"What are you doing?"
Sol stopped outside of the teleportation array and turned back to Yoon-Jae to say.
"I’m going to teleport you directly to the Servant Palace where our fellow alchemy disciples are."
"What about you?"
Sol scratched his cheek as he responded.
"Brother Yoon-Jae, I need to get those books, both the ones in the office and in the other rooms. I also think there is a library here. I want to check that out too."
"So you’re planning to stay here with that thing?!"
Yoon-Jae’s eyes widen and he looked at Sol in disbelief at his recklessness.
"Ah, I’m only going to stay here until I collect enough books Brother Yoon-Jae."
Yoon-Jae frowned.
"Fine, then I’ll stay and help you get those books."
Yoon-Jae went to walk out of the teleportation array, but realize he couldn’t move.
Sol shook his head.
"You need to get back to the other disciples, and I want you to take Little Zeel out of here too. I’ll be back in a couple of days."
Yoon-Jae’s frown deepen, but when he looked at Sol’s calmed, almost relaxed expression, he realized he wasn’t doing this out of stupidity but confidence.
"Fine, just be careful. That Nian beast might be weakened, but my instincts tell me it’s stronger than a Mortal Realm cultivator, it could be in the Spiritual Realm."
"Don’t worry Brother Yoon-Jae, I almost have full control of the Grand Formation Array around the Palace, actually the Grand Formation Array is the Legacy Inheritance itself."
Sol held up his hand that had the blue rune on it.
"This Legacy Rune controls everything."
Yoon-Jae sighed, and the teleportation array’s light soon reached its peak.
"I’ll wait for you to come back in a week, but if you haven’t returned by then I’m informing Master."
Sol nodded.
He was going to say that himself, but Yoon-Jae beat him to it.
Sol waved at the still frowning Yoon-Jae as the teleportation array flashed, and he was teleported out of the Palace.
As the blue light of the teleportation array dimmed, the dragon carving on the ground cracked, and soon fissures covered it entirely.
This teleportation array was no longer usable.
Sol looked down at it and mumbled.
"I hope the smaller ones are working, if they aren’t then I just made a huge mistake."
After saying that, Sol sat cross-legged and looked at the shimmering blue rune on the back of his right hand.
"First I need to understand what you are. Even my Master’s Seven Runic Paths to Samsara isn’t as sophisticated as you."
Sol closed his eyes and accepted the Legacy Inheritance.
Soon after, the blue rune shone a dazzling light that encapsulate his figure.
Slowly, an artificially cocoon-like membrane started to form around his body.
After a few minutes, this cocoon membrane had grown to three meters in diameter. Blue runes covered the entire ballroom, and they all ran toward the cocoon Sol was curled up in.
Each time the cocoon pulsated with a radiant light, this pulsing would travel to the runes in the ballroom.
However, these runes weren’t just inside this ballroom, they spread to cover every inch of the large Palace.
Whether this was a good thing or a bad thing was yet to be seen.
On one hand, this was a Legacy Inheritance of a Deity who had been studying runes and formations for tens probably hundreds of thousands of years.
If Sol could combine this Legacy Rune with his Master’s Seven Runic Paths to Samara rune, then he wouldn’t just be able to create a single rune with a simple thought in the future as his Master said, but he would be able to create a whole ass Grand Formation Array with the overlapping and linking method just by thinking about it.
That was the benefit of this cocoon appearing; the merging of these two powerful runes in his body.
However, the creation of this cocoon also created a clear path that led straight to him.
After only thirty minutes since this cocoon appeared, a black grotesque figure suddenly slithered its way into the ballroom through the double doors.
It turned its attention to the cocoon and started approaching it slowly.
Sol was unaware of this.
If he knew this cocoon would appear around him and be so pronounced, then he would have taken more precautionary measures when accepting this Legacy Inheritance.
However, it was too late. The Nian beast reached the cocoon and released a loud screech before it raised its arms and swung down.
Its sharp claws which could tear apart any cultivator in the Mortal Realm, ripped through the air as it headed for the cocoon...
