The Golem Mage -
Chapter 692 - 692 Arthur Gordons
692: Arthur Gordons.
692: Arthur Gordons.
“Hmm, why are you the one chosen to face me?
Has your team already given up on winning?” Connor said his face showing a perplexed emotion, as he stretched his arms
During all this he made sure not to take his eyes of Arthur, who stood calmly on the opposite side of the stage.
“Given up?
Hardly.
We’re not the type to surrender without a fight, why don’t you step forward and find out why I’m the one here?” Arthur replied with a sly smile.
Connor shrugged dismissively, clearly unimpressed by Arthur’s confidence, and this was all because he didn’t take his opponent seriously, assuming this would be an easy victory.
“Begin!” The referee’s voice rang out.
Without hesitation, Connor dashed toward Arthur, closing the distance in a blur.
The crowd fell silent, holding their breath as the first move unfolded.
Connor’s hand partially transformed, his fingers elongating into razor-sharp claws, and he slashed viciously toward Arthur’s neck as if aiming to decapitate him in one move.
Arthur, however, was ready, before Connor’s strike could connect, Arthur raised his left arm that was covered in a stone skin spell in a defensive stance, supporting it with his right hand.
Bang!
The stage reverberated with a sharp sonic boom as Arthur blocked the powerful strike, stepping back only three paces.
The crowd gasped in shock as Arthur casually twisted his left arm, eliciting a series of cracking sounds, as though resetting his bones.
“That was close, now it’s my turn.” Arthur said, his sly smile returning.
In an instant, Arthur dashed forward, his speed blurring as he closed the gap between him and Connor.
Caught off guard by Arthur’s swift recovery, Connor hesitated, in which Arthur seized the moment, launching a punch aimed squarely at Connor’s face.
Reacting instinctively, Connor raised his palm to intercept the blow, intending to clamp Arthur’s fist.
However, in a split second, Arthur retracted his right hand and sent a left hook instead, targeting Connor’s rib cage.
Arthur’s left fist glowed with golden light, infused with his metal element as he enhance the force of his attack.
Boom!
The impact was tremendous, causing the crowd to erupt in astonishment as Connor was hurled into the air, his body flung far across the stage before crashing to the ground.
The sheer force of Arthur’s single strike left Connor dazed and out of commission, sending shockwaves through the audience.
“What am I watching?
Since when did the War God Academy team have someone this strong?” a spectator exclaimed, his voice filled with disbelief.
He couldn’t reconcile what he’d just witnessed Connor, a renowned powerhouse from the Bloodline Academy, sent flying effortlessly with a single strike, despite being in the same realm as his opponent, in fact he was thought to have the edge.
“If the War God Academy team had this kind of strength all along, why did they act like weaklings before?” another person questioned aloud, struggling to comprehend the turn of events.
On the stage, Connor pushed himself off the ground, his expression now far more serious.
Blood trickled from the corner of his lips, which he wiped away with the back of his hand.
“You’re dead!” Connor growled, his voice dripping with malice.
His body began to twist and contort unnaturally, the sound of snapping and reforging bones echoing across the arena.
The gruesome transformation, which would have driven most people mad with pain, was nothing new for Connor.
As a seasoned werewolf, he endured the agony with ease as thick fur sprouted across his body, his muscles expanded, and his limbs grew longer and more menacing.
Razor-sharp claws extended from his hands as he completed his transformation.
A powerful surge of mana pressure rippled out from Connor’s now monstrous form, radiating the undeniable aura of a Mid Tier 5 Mage.
Even during his transformation, Connor kept a wary eye on Arthur, expecting him to attack and disrupt the transformation process.
But Arthur didn’t budge, instead, he simply stood there, waiting for him to complete his transformation, his calm demeanour only fuelling Connor’s rage.
When the transformation was complete, Arthur casually stretched out his arm, conjuring dual golden swords from with metal element.
Their radiant glow shimmered with a lethal edge.
“Come at me now, beast.
Didn’t you claim you were going to kill me?” Arthur taunted, twirling one of his swords before gesturing towards Connor to come mockingly.
His calm words and confident stance further infuriated Connor, who roared and lunged at him.
[> Low Bloodline Strike – Claw Strike <]
In a split second, Connor unleashed a devastating Qi-shaped claw strike.
The attack filled the air with sharp, rippling energy, descending upon Arthur like an unavoidable storm.
[> Low Tier Spell – Merge <]
Arthur reacted instantly, dashing forward with incredible speed, he activated the merge spell.
Causing his golem to materialize before him, but before anyone could process its appearance, the construct shattered into countless silver fragments.
The shards didn’t scatter aimlessly; they engulfed Arthur completely in a split second, wrapping him in a brilliant, silver metallic armour.
The arena fell silent, anticipation thick in the air as Arthur prepared to counter Connor’s ferocious assault.
The moment Arthur completed the merge, his entire demeanour transformed, he now resembled a stoic silver knight, devoid of emotion due to the facial appearance of his silver mask.
The dual swords in his hands had also changed, gleaming with a sharp, silver hue that radiated an otherworldly aura.
Without hesitation, Arthur moved forward towards Connor’s attack, his strikes swift and calculated.
Each movement of his hand deflected Connor’s Qi-based claw strikes one by one, his steps deliberate and unyielding as he advanced.
[> Mid-Tier Spell + Strike – Golden Flash <]
After parrying the last claw strike, Arthur suddenly dashed forward, leaving behind a trail of blurred afterimages.
The technique, known as Golden Flash, lived up to its name.
However, to the spectators, it appeared more like a streak of silver lightning cutting through the air.
In the blink of an eye, Arthur was already on the opposite side of the stage, the twin blades he had wielded dissolved into shimmering specks of elemental energy, scattering into the wind as though they had never existed.
The crowd’s attention snapped from Arthur, who is glowing like a knight forged from pure silver, to Connor, who now stood frozen.
A deep X-shaped wound stretched across his chest, vivid and undeniable, they quickly realized the injury had been inflicted during Arthur’s electrifying dash.
The entire sequence had unfolded so rapidly it felt surreal, like a dream too fantastical to be true.
The War God Academy’s supporters were stunned into silence and even forgot to cheer.
None of them had expected such a dramatic turn of events mere seconds after the match had begun.
“Surrender,” Arthur commanded, his voice calm but resolute.
He had shown restraint, choosing not to decapitate Connor when he executed [Golden Flash].
Arthur understood that Connor’s inability to match his speed was like a death sentence, but instead of delivering a fatal blow, he had merely left a warning mark.
Arthur hoped this act of mercy would prompt Connor to concede.
However, the word ‘surrender’ struck a raw nerve, gnawing at Connor’s pride and inflaming his ego.
“How dare you?!
Ahhhhh!” Connor roared, his voice filled with rage and desperation.
For the first time, Connor abandoned all restraint and he unleashed a technique that his clan has forbidden to most of its members, a move he was neither prepared nor permitted to use.
[> Mid-Bloodline Spell – Berserk <]
Howl!!!
A bloodcurdling howl erupted from Connor as he released the spell’s restraints.
His eyes glowed crimson, consumed by unrelenting fury, the sound of his howl echoed through the arena, primal and bone-chilling, as though unleashing this forbidden power brought him an almost perverse pleasure.
“Stop this now, Student Connor!
Techniques that affect your mental state are strictly forbidden, especially when you cannot fully control them!” The referee reappeared on the stage, his voice firm as he addressed the escalating situation.
Connor’s aura had surged to the high Tier 5 Mage realm, but his eyes were clouded, lacking clarity.
At that moment, Connor’s form appeared to be in the control of the Beast more than man.
Though faint traces of self-awareness lingered, but his instincts had taken over, and his focus was entirely locked on Arthur standing on the opposite side of the stage.
Even as the referee’s words reached him, Connor chose to ignore them.
His rage eclipsed all reason, leaving no room for thought beyond his overwhelming desire to eliminate Arthur.
Realizing that Connor would not heed his warnings, the referee prepared to intervene, but before he could step in, a calm voice echoed from outside the battle stage.
“You shouldn’t interfere, sir, the moment you do, it will count as my academy’s loss, regardless of whether Connor is to be punished later for his actions, don’t worry the match isn’t over yet.” Alec said firmly.
Alec’s confidence was unshaken, he knew Arthur’s capabilities better than anyone, and Arthur had yet to fight seriously yet.
The spirit weapon that is linked to his golem is still sheathed behind him, and he had not even drawn it.
Alec could tell Arthur was holding back, testing the waters.
But now that Connor had gone all out, Arthur would have no choice but to increase the power he exerted.
The referee hesitated, glancing at Alec and then back at the stage, he knew Alec was right the rules were clear.
Unless Arthur signalled surrender or was rendered incapable of fighting, he could not interfere without prematurely ending the match, which would automatically rule a win for the Bloodline Academy as it would be seen as him stepping in to help Arthur.
Reluctantly, he stepped back, his gaze now
Fixed on Arthur to see how he would handle the berserk Connor.
