Chapter 17: Chapter 17 Turning Danger into Safety

Yu Li turned to the forensics technician and said, "Old Chen, go test his blood."

As the forensic technician was about to draw blood, Shen Silin stepped in front of Yang Yu, her face filled with anger: "Is this ever going to end? Do you need to draw blood from every single person in our club before you’re satisfied?"

Zhu Shaoping was drenched in cold sweat, his voice trembling as he said, "Officer Yu, this is the last one, I promise this is the last one. If something really goes wrong, I’m willing to take full responsibility!"

"Mr. Shen, did you hear that? The last one, he’s willing to take responsibility."

Yu Li looked at Shen Silin expressionlessly, "If this gentleman is indeed innocent, I am willing to apologize on behalf of the entire police force and hold the accuser accountable."

Shen Silin scoffed in anger: "Hah, the facts have already proven that this guy is full of nonsense. I can sue him for false accusation right now. You take the word of an accuser so seriously? Is this how you handle your affairs?"

"She’s afraid, she’s afraid!" Zhu Shaoping clung to his last hope like a lifeline, "Officer Yu, she’s obstructing us like this, she must have something to hide!"

"This whore who sells her body, her body may be dirty, but her mind is even filthier; there isn’t a clean spot on her, how can we believe anything that comes out of her mouth?" Shen Silin rebuked sternly, "If someone asks Officer Yu to prove her virginity, does Officer Yu have to prove her innocence as well?"

"You!" Yu Li’s resolute face flushed slightly with anger as she glared at Shen Silin.

Unafraid, Shen Silin held Yu Li’s gaze.

Just then, Yang Yu slowly regained consciousness, his voice very weak: "Officers, I am willing to have my blood tested. But I also hope that you will do as you said, apologize to us in front of all the guests today, and restore our club’s reputation."

Yang Yu had just been overwhelmed by a massive amount of toxins and had passed out.

Although his Primordial Energy was exhausted, his physical constitution was strong enough to have already rapidly cleared the toxins from his body; this was the source of his confidence.

Yu Li looked at Yang Yu with some surprise, and after a moment, she turned to the forensic technician and said, "Old Chen, take his blood."

"Alright." The forensic technician drew some of Yang Yu’s blood and immediately tested it.

A few minutes later, Old Chen shook his head again: "Captain Yu, this gentleman’s blood is negative."

"Mr. Shen, I am sorry; it was our mistake." Yu Li immediately apologized to Shen Silin, "Don’t worry, we will go down immediately and explain to all the guests, restoring your reputation. Take Zhu Shaoping away, let’s leave!"

Looking at the terrifying gaze of Shen Silin made Zhu Shaoping shiver all over.

He was relieved that the police were taking him away; otherwise, he was genuinely worried Shen Silin would finish him off.

It is said that his boss was not someone to be trifled with; every year, one or two staff members would disappear without a trace from the club.

Once Yu Li and her team left, Shen Silin turned to Yang Yu with a face full of concern: "Are you alright?"

"I’m okay, cough cough..." Yang Yu coughed dryly twice and spat out a mouthful of fresh blood.

Shen Silin hurriedly wiped the blood from the corner of Yang Yu’s mouth with a tissue, her tenderness akin to a virtuous wife.

Manager Zhou watched in awe until Shen Yan glared at him fiercely, making him turn away: "I didn’t see anything, Mr. Shen, I’ll get back to work."

Manager Zhou had never seen Shen Silin be so good to any man, and today’s scene was deeply shocking to him: "No wonder Mr. Shen treats him differently; it turns out he is the one Mr. Shen favors... cough cough, if I want to live a few more years, best stay out of the boss’s private matters!"

"It’s okay, I just need to sleep it off." Yang Yu lay down on the couch, closed his eyes, and quickly fell asleep.

There was no way around it, his expenditure today had simply been too great.

"Sigh," Shen Silin sighed, "Yanzi, please take these guests away to rest. Look into who prepared their food, with a special focus on Zhu Shaoping’s whereabouts."

"Understood, Mr. Shen," Shen Yan summoned the security and took the people away, leaving only Shen Silin and Yang Yu in the room.

A female figure wearing an Evil Ghost mask appeared behind Shen Silin, bowed respectfully, and asked, "Mr. Shen, do you have any orders?"

Shen Silin’s gaze was icy, and her tone even colder, "Find out who instructed Zhu Shaoping. Once uncovered, there’s no need for him to remain alive."

"Understood, Mr. Shen." The masked woman turned and left, vanishing like a ghost, as if she had never been there.

Shen Silin caressed Yang Yu’s face, her eyes filled with an indecipherable mix of emotions, "Yang Yu, I once vowed never to fully trust anyone again. Can I, for your sake, break my own promise..."

"Captain Yu, there’s been an accident up ahead, many people are injured!" A subordinate brought the car to a stop and said to Yu Li, "Shall we go help them?"

"Is that even a question?" Yu Li said without hesitation, "Everyone, follow me to the rescue!"

Over a dozen police officers immediately exited the vehicle and ran towards the accident scene, leaving only one person to watch Zhu Shaoping.

Zhu Shaoping’s mind was still consumed with thoughts of how to defend himself later when the police officer beside him suddenly tilted and passed out!

Before Zhu Shaoping could understand what was happening, a large hand picked him up and quickly fled the scene.

When Yu Li and the others returned, they found only their unconscious colleague, with Zhu Shaoping nowhere to be seen.

"Reporting a false alarm could just mean a few days in jail, why would this guy run? He’s handcuffed, he couldn’t have escaped on his own, definitely someone helped him," she speculated.

Yu Li looked thoughtful, her eyes piercing, "Unless, this guy has some sort of damning secret. It seems, tonight is going to be quite the drama! Let’s go check out Zhu Shaoping’s house!"

In a dark alley, the Scarred man pressed Zhu Shaoping against a wall, "What have you told the police?"

Zhu Shaoping was extremely panicked inside, but he still pretended to not understand, "Mister, I don’t understand what you’re saying... uh—"

The Scarred man grabbed Zhu Shaoping by the throat, his eyes fierce, "Stop playing dumb with me, speak now or I’ll strangle you!"

"Big brother, I didn’t say anything!" Zhu Shaoping said with a sobbing tone, terrified, "How dare I tell the police the truth, I know the difference between being detained for a few days and going to jail. As long as I steadfastly deny it, the police have no evidence, right?"

"Good," the Scarred man said with a cold chuckle, "Now, you can go to your death..."

Whoosh!

A streak of cold light flashed by, and the Scarred man instinctively loosened his grip, dodging the light.

Clang!

A dagger was thrust into the ground behind where the Scarred man had been standing. Zhu Shaoping seized the opportunity to flee, and as the Scarred man tried to attack, another dagger flew towards him.

The Scarred man dodged the dagger again, then turned around, his gaze chillingly fixed on the woman opposite him wearing the demon mask, "Who are you? Why are you interfering with my business?"

The Scarred man thought the woman wanted to fight him, but without saying another word, she turned and ran, infuriating him so much that he punched the wall, "Damn it! Don’t let me catch you, or I’ll rip your bones out!"
