The God of Jesters
Chapter 246 - 4.08.1 She is in danger.

Chapter 246: 4.08.1 She is in danger.

Farhad wondered if they were lies, before holding himself off from thinking too much.

A total of five me, no, a bit less considering he did remember the time she cut his head. He had just seen it through the girl called Mini, seeing how easily Remira cut off his head.

As for the fact why she did do it or any sense of betrayal? He didn’t feel any, he was ready to die and had forfeited his life in return for his sister’s safety from these very people. He was ready to die for long so all those deaths didn’t actually matter to him.

In his eyes, death was not as scary as it was to others. Most might be confused about what death entails, have their own belief, or what comes after life. But he knew the true answer.

Although he can’t remember what happened clearly in the dream he lived with Jester, he knew that he took a path that Jester denied. Which in turn incarnated him as a human instead of a mouse.

So who knows, in his next life, he might just be a plant, one without feeling or emotion. A life of simplicity. A life where he doesn’t know his past, or his future or cares about his present. A life without any worries.

An envious life where none of the things would matter to him anymore. The past won’t torture him not the future scare him.

It’s why he desired death so much, it’s why he was so easily able to give up his flames in return for his sister’s safety.

A selfish move, yes. The move of a coward, one who runs away from the struggle. But considering the life he led, it would be the only way out of him for it. The only way for him to be someone better.

But all of that would only work if he had no recollection of his past, a blank paper that has no baggage from his past. As if he knows anything bad from the lost time, he would probably break.

And that’s just happened now.

Did the ones that died him?

Their head was separated, the head that is responsible for all the actions of his human body, in a way, one can say that the head was the one called Farhad Maisel, while the rest of the body worked to keep the head alive and well.

But what if the body grew out a new head every time?

"A transcendent is different from a mortal, their soul is their self, while their mind is just an organ that nourishes the soul." A line he read on the "Mind and the spiritual realm." A basic introductory book for the occult students.

And when his mind was down the drain and was falling into despair, this random line suddenly opened his mind for a bit.

"There should be four other heads, where are they?" Farhad asked, looking at the pouch that had fallen on the ground after he hit Owl, and then at Owl himself. "Can’t say, but knowing the way the Radiant Church functions, some of your heads are probably in the hands of the Mystics of Radiant Church."

’Probably not all.’ Farhad wondered but didn’t speak much.

What he did wonder though, was what was he actually? Like a plant, once the tip is cut off, it will grow a new one. At least he didn’t grow multiple like the plants. But it still didn’t feel right to him.

’Why do some memories remain, while others disappear?’

And he did ask Owl, who just shook his head in denial. "All I hope is that you stay away from that Knight, she will do everything in her pow...’

"I asked her to do it." Farhad shut Owl off, before getting up and looking toward the group who had created some distance from him, including Mini.

"I know you people are not going to leave me alone... that little girl has the power to keep watch correct? Even these clothes should have something similar." Whether it was him or a version of him, Farhad chose to forget about it for a bit, with complete death, this hollowness and despair he feels will disappear. So instead of focusing on something like that, he focused on something more tangible.

Team one remains silent, they don’t refute a single word that Farhad said as if it were the truth and there is no need to act oblivious, considering their actions would be noticed easily by someone like Farhad as he is someone who understands Jester better than anyone. And after being trained and led by Jester, they were pretty much similar in habits and abilities.

"So I won’t say to leave me alone anymore, nor am I going to burn these clothes." Farhad had understood why these people came, they truly came for him, for his safety, and for him to achieve his best. As for what best that was, he can’t say or understand.

As long as he is back to civilization and leaves the oppression of the Radiant Knight he called Captain, they will leave on their own. But it didn’t mean he hated Remira for what she had done and loved these people.

Although he did have a sense of crisis learning of his decapitations, he never forgot who these helpers actually were. Who they work for and their end goal.

The only reason he even chose to sell his everything to Remira was so that she would push her organization to act against Jester and save his sister. And the Safety of his sister didn’t just mean incidental safety where she would be brought back from the city of Dwarves Bothal and go on her merry ways, still waiting for the looming threat.

Instead, he wished the Radiant Knights to become his blood enemies, just like they used to be. It was only because of that reason that, in the first hundred years, Jester was nothing more than a parasite that ran around witnessing the wonders the world had to offer while barely surviving the endless pursuit of the Knights.

It was only after they faced defeat after a certain incident which was followed by a horrific revelation that it was virtually impossible to destroy the wraith that the Knights chose to ignore him, giving him time to grow and create puppets like Ikaros Yethel, a small librarian in the library of mages, who went on to become someone akin to an emperor of a small nation.

Of course, the details in his mind were blurry and he only came to such conjecture after some brainstorming on his own, as to how much truth this held. He didn’t know nor had a way to confirm it yet.

"What I am going to do instead is go back, to the Captain."

"Won’t you reconsider, her actions had caused great damage to your soul."

"Then let it happen, I hope to forget some of my memories anyway."

"It’s not just the memory. Damaged souls bring madness."

"Conversing with you a lot has made it harder to hold it all back. So I would prefer if you back off for now."

"I did as you asked, I listened to you, considered your words, and came to a conclusion." With a condescending tone, he continued. "I would rather ask for help from someone that cooks my flesh and feasts on it, than your kind."

"Did you think I would work with you, listen to you after you show me those things.? All they did was make me more assured that Sir Remira is the only person who can ensure the destruction of that Clown."

Hearing such words, Scart made an angry face, ready to shout. But he was held back by Minat, who stabbed him in the very place Gazelle did not too long ago. Making him curse.

"Do you really think the Knights are good people? That they would help you from the bottom of their heart? That they would save your sister who needs no saving to begin with?"

When the owl said those words, Farhad’s eyes gleamed with anger while he asked. "Speak, what do you mean by that?"

"My master had said that there might be some misunderstanding, he never intended to harm your sister. Your father, yes, he hated him to the core and you should know why. Your father was not a clean man."

Farhad wished to shut Owl up, but he didn’t. He knew very well what kind of person his father was. A hunting dog of the government where he killed who knows how many innocents.

But it still didn’t feel great while hearing it from someone else and Owl also noticed it, so he moved on.

"But as for your sister, he had no reason to harm her, I would even say after what happened in Bothal recently, he had ended up saving her."

"You think I would believe your words?"

"That is up to you. My master doesn’t wish to keep an antagonistic relationship with you. And I don’t know if you know the reason or not, but he really cares about what you think. So he won’t harm your sister and would even ensure his safety."

"But understandably, your sister is also someone who can’t be stopped from putting her feet into dangerous things. She recently faced death as well."

If there was even a hint of truth in Owl’s words, then there was no reason for him to work with Remira anymore, no need to sacrifice himself or use Remira to save his sister.

There was no need to go back.

But sad to say, he can’t truth any word this man said, besides just one.

"What kind of trouble? And how long will it take me to reach Bothal?"
