The Genius Mage Was Reincarnated Into A Swordsman Family

So, i've read more than a hundred chapters i guess it's enough to leave a review. I really want to give a 3 stars but remembering the promise author made in chapter 1 i decided not to. The beginning, 7 or 10 chapter or so, is heavily inspired by 'the reincarnated assassin is a genius swordsman' (yknow the korean wn one, has manhwa adaptation too). I thought, well sure, no problem. If the author can make a twist from the same premise, why not? That's where my expectation fell apart. Klaus is kinda similar to Raon but Raon is much more likeable and much more fun to read than Klaus. Both are ruthless but Raon moral compass is still there. While on the other side, i have no sliver of doubt that Klaus can and will commit a mass murder to achieve the result he wants. Now, both Klaus and Raon loves their family, but the difference is Raon loves his whole family along with his friends and companions while Klaus only care abt his mother. He doesn't give a flying f abt anything. He doesn't even make an effort to make a friend. He walks the lone wolf path, similar to Jinwoo. But even Jinwoo from Solo Leveling isn't like this. He fights alone but he still care abt people around him. He can be super ruthless sure, but his humanity is still there. While Klaus, his personality is borderline on a villainous level. So, i dunno how to categorize him. He's not a hero but he's not an entirely full fledged villain either (so far). He is tethering in a awkward position, and no, he is not a morally grey. I guess i'm reading a villain in the making? that's the conclusion i came to.

Talking abt the side characters, oh boy. The side characters feels like those filler chara you see on trashy chinese xianxia novels. Lot's of "How dare you" "You commoner" "Unworthy" and somethin along those lines keep popping out every 10 or so chapters. Everytime, they will undermine Klaus, and Klaus as always, will give them a face slap (not literally) but then people WILL STILL undermine him and the cycle continue. I'm like, what's wrong with these people brain? How can they never learn? I'm just akkdiefnefbr-flabbergasted.

Don't get me going with the characters from Klaus family side. His grandfather sucks, his cousins all sucks too, his uncle sucks, his peer also sucks. I MEAN HOW? is the only good people in this family is only her mother, his possibly father, and his healer uncle? Gosh, the MC is already unlikable enough at least make the side chara fun and interesting.

And this is a little rant. I feel Klaus personality suddenly shift when he met Helene? Helena? idk her name, the girl from Ice Palace. "She's beautiful" "I feel something different"

LIKE JUST WHY? why does MC in this genre always fall in love with the tragic beauty from a powerful family. I'm tired and unamused by this overused narrative.

Huft, well, the good thing is the plot is surprisingly flow very smooth but that's it. I still can predict one thing after another bcs the story flow and progression is already used by other novels in similar genres. It is just simply, okay. I hope the author develop MC more, and maybe try to make the side chara fun to read.
