The Forsaken Heir's Ascension
Chapter 94: Arena of Madness: The Wild Defender

Chapter 94: Arena of Madness: The Wild Defender

A faint shift—a ripple in the air—brushed against his skin, coming from the left.

Something was creeping toward him... slowly.

He didn’t react.

Instead, he played the role of the prey—baiting the predator.

Then—the pressure spiked.

He turned instantly, thrusting his spear like lightning.

Boom!

The impact sent the defender sliding backward across the column, his body crashing into the fog-shrouded boundary.

Alex didn’t wait. No hesitation.

He sprinted toward the fifth column, heart steady, guard up.

Suddenly—

[Whistle!]

A sharp sound pierced the fog.

Then a deep, echoing voice boomed:

"15 minutes remaining."

Alex didn’t flinch.

He pulled his spear back, its shaft humming as it slid through the air.

Now realizing there wasn’t much time left, Alex heard footsteps approaching from behind.

Out of the fog emerged Rina and Selene, followed closely by Luther, his massive shield still gleaming.

Luther looked around and asked, "Where’s the defender from the last column?"

Alex, eyes locked forward, replied coolly,

"He’s probably... resting."

Luther smirked, catching the hint.

Selene stepped up beside Alex, her voice calm but urgent.

"We don’t have time. Let’s move fast."

Luther nodded. "There won’t be much trouble from here. Only threat now is their vice-captain at the last column."

As they stepped into the next column, a defender lunged from the fog—a last-minute ambush.

But Luther reacted instantly.

Boom!

His shield crashed into the attacker’s chest, sending him flying out of their path like a ragdoll.

No one flinched. No one looked back.

They moved forward like it was nothing—like professionals.

In the next five minutes, through coordinated attacks and flawless teamwork, they cleared each remaining obstacle with precision.

At last, they reached the final column.

Luther’s expression turned grim.

"Be careful. Their vice-captain is strong. She got offers from the top five clubs... and she’s completely crazy."

Just then, a cackling laugh echoed through the fog, unsettling and wild.

Everyone tensed.

Rina crouched, drawing her katana in one fluid motion.

Selene raised her arms, ice elemental power swirling rapidly in her palms.

Luther adjusted his massive shield and stepped ahead of the group, taking point.

Alex glanced sideways at him and asked, confused,

"You’re a blaster... with a shield?"

Before Luther could reply, a teasing voice rang out through the mist:

"And I’m the crazy one? That bastard uses a shield as a blaster!"

Luther sighed. "Mina... come out. You don’t like hiding."

The air shifted.

Click—clack. Click—clack.

A woman emerged from the fog.

She wore tight, flashy red spandex, leaving little to the imagination—ample chest, toned thighs on full display. Her brown hair bounced lightly as she walked, and her light-brown eyes gleamed with a dangerously playful glint. In one hand, she twirled a long whip.

Alex could feel the tension tighten around them.

Luther groaned, placing his hands over his ears.

"Really? Using your air element just for dramatic effect?"

She threw her head back and cackled madly, licking her lips as she spoke.

"You’re too cruel, Luther! I made that sound just to welcome the newbies. Don’t ruin the mood."

She paused, a wild glint flashing through her eyes.

"I heard this year’s newbies are really strong," she whispered, voice trembling with excitement. "I really want to take a bite."

A shiver ran down their spines—everyone except Luther, who remained calm and still.

Then her gaze locked onto Selene. She slowly ran her eyes from Selene’s head to toe. Her legs tensed, quivering, and she let out a moan.

"Ahhh... so beautiful... so tender... ahhh..."

Horrified, the team instinctively took a step back.

Suddenly, she lunged.

Whippa!

Her whip cracked through the air like lightning—

Clang!

—stopped by Luther’s raised shield.

"You haven’t changed, Mina!" he growled, bracing himself.

Mina pouted in mock anger.

"I’m exactly how you like me, darling," she teased, voice sultry and wild.

Then she leapt into the air, her whip lashing down from above like a falling star.

At the same time, sharp spikes erupted from the ground, and a crushing wave of air pressure descended on them, heavy as mountains pressing on their shoulders.

Luther exhaled calmly, his earth aura flaring to life.

Stone armor encased his body, his shield growing broader and thicker—

Now, in Luther’s place, stood a towering golem made of solid stone, its surface glowing faintly with earth-elemental aura.

Luther’s calm voice echoed from within:

"Be careful—she’s dual-elemental. And she’s very good."

The golem surged forward, shield slamming toward Mina.

Boom!

The impact echoed across the fog-laced battlefield.

Rina’s eyes widened.

"How could I forget? I know how to make a golem too!"

Without hesitation, stone armor encased her body—a slightly smaller golem wielding a glowing katana. It sprang into action, slicing through the rising spikes near the group and clearing a path.

Mina scowled.

"Tsk. I really hate these ugly things."

The air twisted around her, turning sharp and violent. Wind blades formed a swirling vortex, shredding the air with a piercing hum.

With a casual wave of her hand—

Whooosh!

She launched the razors at both golems.

Slash! Slash!

The stone giants began to split, sliced through like butter.

But before Mina could smirk—

Boom!

A sudden blast struck her mid-air. She staggered back, snarling.

Whipppish!

A whip of water lashed toward her, crackling with elemental force.

Mina’s eyes flared with fury.

Down below, Selene stood, one hand raised—ice lances forming and launching in rapid succession. In the other hand, the whip floated in mid-air, dancing with fluid grace.

Mina roared, raising both arms.

Crack! Boom!

The ground trembled as a field of earth spikes burst into the sky.

Luther’s eyes widened in horror.

He shouted, "Be careful! She’s losing control!"

All of them turned their eyes upward.

Above, the fog-drenched sky twisted violently as a storm of earth spikes spiraled, circling like a deadly vortex.

Alex’s gaze flicked toward the final column, then back to the hell raining from above.

His expression hardened.

Crack!

Black lightning arced across his body. A dark elemental shield bloomed above him, humming with raw power.

A loud chime rang out.

"5 minutes remaining."

Alex clenched his spear tighter, his knuckles white.

"We have to win. It looks impossible... but we have to."

He bent his knees, muscles coiling like springs, then launched forward, pressing against the ground with all his strength.

Boom!

The ground split behind him.

Earth spikes fell like deadly rain, ripping through the air.

Screams echoed in the distance—steel clashing with stone, magic tearing through fog.

But Alex didn’t falter.

He pushed forward, his dark elemental shield crackling as it absorbed and deflected each deadly spike.

He was a blur—unstoppable, focused, charging toward victory.

Mina’s eyes widened, a wild, crazy smile spreading across her face.

She lifted her hand, and razor-sharp air blades began to rain down from the sky, aimed straight at Alex.

It became a contest of speed—black lightning against slicing winds, each element fighting for dominance.

But the answer was clear.

Alex surged forward with blinding speed, cutting through the fog and closing the distance, crossing the column just in time.

Bell rang.

Ding ding! The game was paused.

Yet, the deadly air blades did not vanish.

They sliced through Alex’s dark elemental shield like it was paper, slashing into his back just as he stepped out of the column.

"Arghhh!"

Alex’s back arched violently as pain exploded through him.

He lost control, sliding hard across the ground, dirt and dust flying in his wake.

Boom!

The arena’s protective barrier shimmered briefly—but held firm, preventing any break.

Alex’s nose, once again, had become a victim of sheer speed—broken and bleeding.

He lay sprawled on the ground, his clothes torn, his back raw and bleeding from the savage cuts. Groaning, he clutched his nose, forcing himself to sit up. His eyes found the girl still hovering in the sky, smiling down at him like a cat watching a mouse squirming.

Alex muttered, "It’s official... defenders are absolutely insane. Ouch."

As the thick fog began to clear, his gaze shifted toward the front column.

Langha was crouched, bloodied from head to toe, shield still locked in place, refusing to fall. And beside him stood Tina—arms crossed, a deep frown creasing her brow. She was untouched, not a single mark on her. Yet the cold fury in her eyes made it clear—she wasn’t satisfied.

If killing was allowed, Alex thought, she would’ve ended that poor bastard without hesitation.

With a heavy sigh, he sat on the ground, letting the pain sink into him. Slowly, he circulated his wood elemental power, its soothing energy beginning to mend the wounds across his torn and battered body.

Luther arrived, his arms bleeding and bruised. "Are you okay?" he asked, concern etched across his face.

Rina and Selene followed close behind. Selene had several sharp gashes near her neck and abdomen, and Rina was limping, circular bleeding wounds marking her leg.

Alex looked up at Luther and asked grimly, "Was she aiming to kill?"

Luther nodded, glancing toward Mina, who was now cheerfully skipping away from the field like a carefree child. "Yeah. That’s why she always ends up disqualified."

Alex let out a long sigh. "Are all defenders this crazy?"

Luther flashed a proud smile. "What are you talking about? I’m a defender to the core—and I’m not crazy."

Alex stared at him with a deadpan expression. Selene and Rina mirrored his look, their eyes full of silent judgment.

Luther scratched his head awkwardly. "Why are you all looking at me like that?"

Just then, the umpire’s voice echoed through the arena.

"Winner: Rebel Team."
