Chapter 112: From Son to Devourer: The Awakening of the Red Snake

Serene followed—and when she saw what was in the central chamber, she let out a raw scream and collapsed to her knees.

The researchers turned, startled. Panic sparked in their eyes.

One reached for a communication orb.

Too late.

Hati teleported with a flash of purple, appearing among them like a ghost of death.

His claws swiped—two heads burst like overripe fruit.

The third didn’t even scream before his throat was in Hati’s jaws.

Blood splattered across the steel floor.

Hati landed silently on the cold floor, his eyes locked on the central chamber.

Inside, a girl with long white hair floated in a bluish liquid. Her eyes were closed—but her once-gentle face was now partially encased in red scales, jagged and inhuman.

Her hands had transformed into clawed talons, encased in those same crimson scales.

Her feet—twisted and monstrous—matched.

And from her waist down, her body was no longer human... just reptilian flesh wrapped in hardened red armor.

Hati growled and stepped back, ears flattening.

Alex walked toward the tank slowly.

He raised a trembling hand and pressed it to the glass, whispering,

"Mother..."

Behind him, Serene was frozen.

Her breath hitched. Her body refused to move.

She knew.

She knew who had done this.

She knew she might’ve stopped it—if she had come earlier.

Suddenly—

The creature’s eyes snapped open.

Two red slit pupils stared directly at Alex.

The pressure in the air exploded.

Serene and Hati were slammed to the ground as if gravity had tripled.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

All around them, the chambers exploded—glass, liquid, and twisted bodies crashing down.

The ground shook like a beast awakening beneath them.

Then—

CRACK!

The central chamber burst apart.

Liquid splashed across the floor.

With a heavy THUD, the creature collapsed forward.

It rose slowly.

Then it looked directly at Alex—silver-haired, wide-eyed, frozen in disbelief.

She smiled.

A distorted, broken voice crackled from her mouth:

"A... Alexy..."

His heart skipped.

His throat dried.

He stumbled forward and whispered—

"Mo—Mother...?"

She shook her head slowly. Her face tried to form an expression—something between sadness and love—but the distortion ruined it.

Then she spoke again, voice low, hollow, and final:

"I’m dead, son."

Alex stopped in his tracks—

Then he screamed, his voice cracking:

"What?!"

The creature—his mother—smiled.

But it wasn’t warm.

It was wrong.

Twisted.

Scary.

"I’m sorry, son," she said, her voice layered with echoes and sorrow.

"But I need you to kill this body... or the Seraph Clan will be completely destroyed."

Behind Alex, Serene was still pinned to the floor, crushed under the unnatural pressure.

She looked up at the creature—no... not her sister.

Not anymore.

A monster wearing her sister’s face.

Alex’s eyes widened.

He shook his head violently.

"No. No. No. NO!"

His knees buckled.

Tears spilled down his face like a broken dam.

"I just got you back!"

"I want to hug you... tell you how lonely I was... how much I missed you. Please—please stay, Mother!"

His whole body trembled, his voice cracking with every word.

The crushing silence was broken by a soft bark.

"Woof."

Hati.

Still pressed to the ground.

Unable to move.

But even in that state—

His bark echoed with hope.

With loyalty.

With a bond that wouldn’t break.

The creature—his mother—followed the sound.

She looked at Hati... and smiled.

Then turned her eyes back to her son.

Her voice softened, trembling at the edges:

"I don’t have much time, Alex."

"My soul... is fading."

"I’m losing control."

"And I can’t risk hurting my own son with this... thing I’ve become."

"Please... let my body rest."

Alex sniffled, tears blurring his vision, and stepped forward—

Spear in hand.

She smiled gently.

"Use your Elemental Poison," she said softly.

"If you don’t... this body won’t vanish."

Alex’s eyes widened.

"How do you know about that?"

She chuckled lightly, a sad sound.

"They awakened my bloodline... forcefully."

"The Red Snake. The primordial serpent. Father of all snakes."

"I carry a trace of its blood... but they twisted it, corrupted it."

She glanced at Serene and Hati, still crushed under the weight of her presence.

"They’re affected... because their bloodlines are weaker than mine."

"But you—" she looked back at Alex with warmth in her eyes,

"You weren’t. You carry more of the Red Snake’s blood than I ever did."

She smiled, her eyes glistening with maternal pride.

"I’m happy, son. Truly happy."

"Now... please."

Alex’s fingers trembled. He put away his spear... and summoned a dagger.

It formed from his shadow and glowed with dark energy, sinister and alive—

Serpentine red stripes coiled around the blade like living threads of venom.

He walked toward her slowly.

Wishing—hoping—that this would all vanish.

That he would wake up.

That this was just a cruel dream.

But reality is always crueler than dreams.

She understood.

And smiled.

In a blur, she stepped forward—

And guided his trembling hands to her chest.

"Please... don’t make me do this," Alex sobbed.

"Please, Mother... don’t leave me."

"After all these years..."

"I finally have a mother."

His knees weakened.

"Now you’re leaving me too?"

"Please—take me with you. I don’t want to be here. Don’t leave me alone again."

She smiled one last time, even as tears brimmed in her glowing red eyes.

Squelch!

The dagger sank into her heart.

Her body began to crumble—

Ashes drifting into the dim green air, piece by piece.

But her smile didn’t fade.

She stepped close to him, what little remained of her form flickering,

and gently pressed her finger against Alex’s chest.

"Live."

"I’ll always be with you."

"Right here."

She decayed.

Ashes floated silently into the air—

Spiraling once around Alex like a parting embrace

Before escaping the suffocating chamber,

Rising toward the open sky.

The dagger vanished from Alex’s trembling hand.

He collapsed to his knees,

White hair falling over his face, hiding his tears.

He stared at the ground, unmoving.

His voice cracked into broken whispers, again and again—

"I killed my mother..."

"I killed my mother..."

Serene, no longer frozen, sat upright—

And suddenly broke into a scream.

She bawled like a little girl—

"Big sister... Big sister!"

The chamber trembled.

A new pressure filled the room—

Heavier. Hungrier.

Almost apocalyptic.

Alex’s head slowly lifted.

One of his eyes turned a glowing red, slit like an abyss—

The other, a swirling violet, with light devouring the very fabric of space.

The air fractured around him—

Like broken glass suspended in time.

He looked up at the ceiling.

ROOOOOOAAAARRRRR!!!

The roar split the world.

At the Academy

The principal stood, his eyes widening as the sea around the academy churned violently.

A shadow flickered beside him—

A small black dragon, humanoid in form, now trembling slightly.

He whispered,

"Someone angered Master..."

The principal’s voice caught.

"Your... master?"

But the dragon had already vanished—leaving silence and dread in his wake.

In the SSS-Ranked Danger Zone

A colossal red dragon stirred from its slumber.

Its eyes snapped open.

Fear, primal and immediate, surged through it.

"That roar... The Devourer!"

"But they said he was dead..."

Across the world, monsters whimpered,

Instinctive terror gripping their hearts.

The cry of a predator that devours gods—

Was alive again.

Back in the Seraph Basement

Where once Alex had stood—

Now towered something else.

A long serpentine creature, regal and terrifying.

Its upper back shimmered with violet scales,

Its underbelly burned with crimson-red armor.

Two feathered wings—one purple, one red—curled through the broken chamber,

Too massive for the space.

The beast twisted upward—

A thing born of grief and ancient power.

BOOM!

It tore through the castle roof like paper,

Exploding into the night sky.

Under the moonlight, it hovered midair—

Majestic and monstrous.

Its dual-colored eyes scanned the castle below.

ROAAAAAARRRRR!
