Chapter 93: Chapter 92 - Mind of Steel

Aleia was on the bed, unconscious.

Just like Ava, she had not been able to handle the training that Caliste had thrown at her; the amount of pleasure had been too much for her to handle, and now that both his sister and mother had been dealt with.

Caliste smiled as he managed to create a win-win situation. He had his fun with his sister and mother, and he also managed to get Excalibur, which meant that he had finally obtained the sword and could pursue his training as he walked out of the Demon King’s Castle with the sword in his hands and his head held high.

Right as he walked outside, Caliste could see the butler on the bench, who hadn’t moved a muscle.

"I’ve got the sword!" Caliste said with a smile on his face as the butler turned around.

"Mhm... I don’t think I need to ask how you got it, because I heard everything from here. Looks like you’ve got skills, young man."

Caliste’s eyes widened at the words, as he didn’t think that they had made that much noise that even he had heard them from the garden when he was one hundred meters away from their bedrooms.

’What if he tells the Demon King that I slept with Ava? Wouldn’t I be in trouble?’

However, the butler seemed to read his mind, as he just smiled and patted his back. "Don’t worry, I won’t tell him anything. Let’s say that it’s our little secret. After all, what you did was pretty demon-like. You had sex with them with the purpose of getting the holy sword. I can’t punish you for that. I’m proud of you, even. I would have done the same thing."

The butler was definitely nice, and Caliste hadn’t expected such an answer, which made the tension in the atmosphere calm down.

"Anyway, enough about that. Show me the sword."

Caliste slowly removed the blue cloth that had been covering the sword and revealed it slowly for everyone to see.

It shone brightly even without a wielder; the holy energy inside it was so dense that the butler frowned while looking at it.

"It’s impressive that you didn’t die as soon as you grabbed the sword. With the density of holy energy inside that sword, you could have died at once. However, luckily for you, you hadn’t developed any Demonic Techniques, which probably saved you."

"What about my brother? He could hold it just fine?"

The butler shook his head. "Your brother would have died holding the sword in its current state. Maybe it was weakened before. But right now, there is no way he would have survived after grabbing it. Even I wouldn’t be able to. I can feel it from here."

"But... even now, the sword seems to want to connect with you."

Just as he said that, the sword vibrated on the ground, getting closer to Caliste as a result on its own. It was honestly scary and mind-blowing at the same time that a sword could have a mind of its own.

"Do you have any idea why I can hold it and not you?"

The butler shrugged. "I have no idea. There’s only one way to figure it out. I need to see what happens when you take the sword in your hands."

The butler smiled as he immediately saw Caliste becoming anxious, recalling what his mother had told him the last time he had used it.

"Don’t worry. Even if you become ten times stronger, you won’t be able to defeat me."

There was such confidence in his tone of voice that Caliste had no choice but to believe the butler, as he realized that he had no idea just how powerful he was in the first place. He just hoped deep down that it wouldn’t be so bad.

"Alright, then. I’ll trust you."

Caliste took a deep breath and grabbed the sword as his mind immediately became cloudy.

Liana, who had stayed quiet for the past few days, immediately felt it as she opened her eyes and paid attention to her surroundings. She hadn’t wanted to witness the "training" that Caliste had given his mother and sister.

Watching others do it wasn’t one of her kinks.

"Caliste? What are you doing?" she called out inside his mind. But just like back then, it fell on deaf ears.

The butler observed Caliste as he immediately noticed the change in his behavior. It was as if a new person had formed before him. The butler could even feel hatred heading in his direction when he had not said a single word.

"Mhm... probably a side effect from the huge amount of holy energy inside the sword. He seems to absolutely hate all beings with demonic energy. At least, the person now in control of him..." the butler muttered as he began realizing what was wrong.

He disappeared for a split second before reappearing before Caliste with a new book in his hands. A new Demonic Technique that was specialized in mind control techniques.

Because that’s where the problem resided.

The butler knocked out Caliste with ease as he let go of the sword and threw the book on his sleeping body, grabbing the sword with the help of the cloth.

A few minutes passed, and Caliste finally woke up, confused.

"W-What happened?" he asked as he grabbed his forehead. He could not remember anything that had just transpired.

The butler, who was sitting on his usual bench, smirked. "It seems that you’re getting affected mentally by the holy energy inside the sword. You simply need to work on that mind of yours, and you should be able to use it quite easily."

"Where’s the sword? Was it hard to stop me?"

The butler laughed. "Don’t flatter yourself. It was very easy to deal with you."

Caliste was disappointed and also happy at the same time that the butler had managed to find what was wrong with him in this situation.

"Perfect then. Is this the technique that I need to learn?" Caliste asked as he grabbed the ragged book on his chest with a slight frown.

[Mind of Steel - Demonic Art.]

[Grade: 3 Stars.]

It wasn’t a five-star technique, which he found weird, even asking the butler about it.

"It’s normal. Demonic Arts to defend your own mind are rare. In fact, this technique in your hands is one that I created on my own a few years ago, and I think it’s the best technique to solve your problem. It will protect you from the effects of an unknown energy easily, even if it’s something as potent as holy energy."

Caliste nodded as he decided to trust the man since he had not lied to him once. Everything he had given him had been very useful, and he believed that this technique was yet another step in the right direction.

"However, I have bad news for you."

Caliste frowned. "What is it?"

The butler smiled. "It seems that I won’t be able to hold up our deal. I will have to leave yesterday, as it seems that the Demon King has requested my help on an important matter. So, I won’t be here to help you with the technique. You will also have to go back to the Demonic Academy and continue working there, as your mother has been pushing back the date as much as she could."

"Is there a way for me to contact you?" Caliste asked with a frown, as over the past weeks, he had truly developed a bond with this man.

"Mhm... no. But if you ever need me, you can try and seek me out."

The butler smiled. "While I’m gone, you should not use Excalibur. At least, not until you’re sure that you understand this demonic art. Using it before could be very dangerous to those you care about, as you might hurt them against your own volition."

Caliste wasn’t sure what to say.

Those past weeks had been some of the best since he had arrived in this new body of his. He had learned so many things. He had become much stronger than before with the help of his techniques.

"What did the Demon King ask for you?"

"I’m afraid that’s confidential."

"Even from his son?" Caliste asked with a frown.

"Yes, it’s unfortunate. But that is the case."

Caliste clicked his tongue, annoyed.

He was finally on a roll. He could feel himself getting closer to dealing with Alek, but now that the butler would leave, he knew that it would take even longer for him to catch up and become stronger.

"I do have a tip for you once you return to the Academy."

"What is it?" Caliste asked with a frown.

"I think a very special individual might be able to help you a lot. Do you know of a certain Albert Siglius? A very, very strong man. A little crazy in the head?" The butler smiled. "If there’s anyone who can continue your training, it’s him."

Caliste’s eyes widened. ’The one in charge of the detention center? The last survivor of the Barbarians. How did the butler know about him?’
