Chapter 96: Apology
Chapter 96: Chapter 96: Apology
Sun Lu said with relief, "Miss Nan, it’s good that you discovered their hiding place, otherwise it would be too hard to clear up this mess."
Yan Ren nodded in agreement, "Nan Yu, how did you find out they would be at that old factory?"
Nan Yu took out her phone and pulled up a photo, pointing to the wall within.
"This kind of special wall is extremely rare in the entire A City, and one might even say it has become extinct. Only this factory, because it was abandoned after a fire long ago, still retains the original architecture."
Yan Ren examined the wall closely, indeed as Nan Yu had said, and he continued to ask, "Where did you get this photo from?"
Nan Yu had already thought about her wording and spoke slowly.
"It was a coincidence. I have a friend who loves to take photos and document those special buildings. She chose this place a while back, and unexpectedly, one of the photos captured this black car."
She smiled slightly, "I noticed it looked very similar to the black car in the video you gave me, so I thought to try my luck. It turned out to actually be theirs."
Yan Ren looked at Nan Yu with a hint of admiration in his eyes and spoke, "Nan Yu, your courage is commendable, but this situation was also very dangerous. If you encounter this kind of situation again, don’t act rashly on your own."
Nan Yu could see his concern and nodded gently, "Captain Yan, there won’t be a next time."
Once Yan Ren was sure that what Nan Yu had said was fine, he said to her further, "We’ve cleared up everything about Luo Ji. You are also a victim. We will proceed according to regulations, and you can be completely at ease."
"Captain Yan, thank you."
Suddenly, the face of An Ru came to Nan Yu’s mind, and she added another question, "What about An Ru?"
Yan Ren replied patiently, "Although she was not the mastermind, she is suspected of harboring criminals. Fortunately, she turned herself in, so she should be treated leniently."
Upon hearing this, Nan Yu nodded silently, deep in thought.
Yan Ren took out some documents, "Take a look and see if there is any problem. If not, please sign here."
Nan Yu read from the top to the bottom, seeing no issues, and signed her name.
After signing, she looked up at Yan Ren and started a casual conversation, "Captain Yan, I heard Jiang Feishun was willing to confess because Meng Yi came to see him."
Yan Ren nodded, "Yes, Meng Yi talked to him for a minute. It’s not clear what exactly they discussed, but as soon as Meng Yi left, Jiang Feishun took the initiative to speak up and wanted to confess everything."
Having learned what she wanted to know, Nan Yu didn’t ask further, "Captain Yan, thanks for your help over the years. I’ll take my leave now."
As she walked out of the police station, it was already midday, and the intense sunlight made it hard for Nan Yu to keep her eyes open.
Before she could adjust, a figure appeared in front of her.
"Young Madam, the Old Madam asked me to pick you up and bring you back to the family mansion for a meal."
Nan Yu squinted, recognizing the person in front of her as Xu Qi, and her heart panicked slightly.
"Uncle Xu, how did you know I was here?"
She wondered if her grandmother had learned about what happened the other day, worried about her, and thus sent Uncle Xu to pick her up immediately.
With kind eyes, Xu Qi smiled and said, "I asked Qi Ming, he mentioned the case had some results and that you would come here today to deal with it."
At his words, Nan Yu’s heart, which had risen in apprehension, settled back down—her grandmother didn’t know about the events of the past couple of days.
Xu Qi continued to ask, "Young Madam, is everything settled now?"
Before Nan Yu could reply, Sun Lu, who was beside her, interjected, "Young Madam, I can take care of the remaining matters. You can rest assured and go with Housekeeper Xu."
"Alright, thank you for your hard work, Lawyer Sun."
Nan Yu hesitated no longer, and got into the car to leave the police station.
Halfway through the journey, a strange message popped up on her phone.
[Nan Yu, I have offended you greatly last time; consider this my apology. Do you still like it?]
