Chapter 84: Chapter 84 Sea City Taoist Academy Enrollment
Jennings Family.
Scarlett Jennings noticed early in the morning that there was an unusual bustle at home.
Today was the day the college entrance exam results were released, and her aunt, Brianna Jennings, came back to the Jennings Family with her twin sons early in the morning.
Besides that, other family members including Luca Jennings and Old Sir Jennings were also waiting at home.
Old Sir Jennings valued family concepts greatly and emphasized ceremony in every family affair.
So today, everyone gathered here for the imminent announcement of the college entrance exam results.
There was more than one kid in the Jennings Family participating in this year’s college entrance exams.
Apart from Brianna’s twin younger sons planning to study abroad and Azura Loomis having already secured early admission, her older son, second brother Adam Jennings, and Scarlett Jennings had all participated in this year’s exams.
Aside from that, Adam, having consistently excellent grades, was a hot contender for top scorer, and the Jennings Family hoped to witness such a moment together.
"How are things going with Marshall Anson studying abroad?"
Old Sir Jennings had watched his two grandsons grow up and paid no less attention to them than to the family’s own children.
Brianna, who was replying to work messages on her phone, put it away and responded to Old Sir Jennings,
"Everything is almost settled. Charles bought a house near the school for him, and I’ve asked a friend in the industry to take care of him once he gets there."
Though Brianna was the only girl in the four siblings, she did not develop a spoiled attitude. On the contrary, she was a bit competitive and strong-willed, always having her own ideas.
While she appeared a strong woman outside, she wasn’t overbearing at home and truly respected her children’s opinions.
Otherwise, one of the twin brothers wouldn’t choose to study design abroad and the other to stay in the country to study directing.
Old Sir Jennings always felt at ease with his daughter and also inquired a bit about the twins’ older brother, Anthony Anson.
Odessa smiled and chimed in, "Auntie’s always had her own ideas, but won’t the two kids feel unsettled being apart suddenly after being together since young?"
"They’ve grown up and have their own paths to take. They can’t always stay together like they did when they were little."
Brianna replied calmly, showing little affection towards this second sister-in-law, who wasted her life at home aiming to be a wealthy lady.
Odessa chuckled at this but wasn’t angry. After all, her son Adam was the star of the day.
"Auntie’s right. I had thought of sending Adam abroad too. Adam was always a good student and even had stints as a foreign exchange student before. Though he didn’t want to go abroad, we let it be. There’re plenty of good universities domestically too; just have to choose."
Her tone was soft, but the bragging was blatant.
Flora Xalvadora noticed Auntie wasn’t interested in talking and decided to mediate, smiling,
"With Adam’s grades, he can indeed pick any domestic university."
She then looked at Adam, "Have you chosen a school, Adam?"
Adam nodded, "I’m going to Sea University like Azura."
After speaking, he recalled the wager with Scarlett, instinctively glancing at her but quickly going silent.
Flora, unaware of the wager between the young ones, simply asked, "Why not choose Capital University?"
"Sea University is great, and it’s closer to home," Azura replied with a smile, then looked at Scarlett Jennings beside them,
"Scarlett, are you choosing Capital or Sea University? Why not come to Sea University with us? We can look after each other."
As soon as Azura finished, before Scarlett could respond, Chase Jennings remarked,
"The results aren’t out yet—it’s not like she can choose whichever she likes."
Because Luca Jennings was present, Chase held back the mocking tone, but even so, his straightforward speech made Luca a bit displeased, though he refrained from scolding the younger generation in front of so many people.
Lucas Jennings was different; he feared nothing.
He faced Chase’s criticism and retorted,
"You said it yourself that the results aren’t out yet. How do you know my sister can’t choose whichever she wants?"
These days, Chase was nearly driven crazy by that brat Lucas. He was about to retort when Uncle Ming entered with a peculiar expression.
"Sir, a university’s recruitment officer is here."
Hearing a recruitment officer had arrived, the Jennings Family immediately perked up, Adam even sitting straight subconsciously.
Elsewhere, it wasn’t always certain, but here in Sea City, for a recruitment officer from a prestigious university to come personally, it usually meant it was for the top scorer.
Everyone else showed delight, each looking at Adam, believing the child didn’t disappoint.
"Is it for Adam?"
Odessa’s voice was somewhat excited.
Uncle Ming glanced at Scarlett, seemingly awkward, "Actually, they came for Miss Scarlett."
The Jennings Family was taken aback.
Adam’s expression froze significantly.
Everyone instinctively looked at Scarlett, who remained indifferent and was evidently unsurprised.
"Scarlett, so your results were that good..."
Odessa suppressed her internal unwillingness and forced a statement.
Scarlett remained calm, "Just okay."
Donovan Jennings, noticing Uncle Ming’s complex expression, raised an eyebrow and asked him,
"Which school’s recruitment officer is it?"
Upon hearing this, everyone instinctively turned to Uncle Ming.
Yeah, with a recruitment officer visiting personally, what was with Uncle Ming’s expression?
Uncle Ming hesitated, but soon the reason was revealed by the arrival of the person himself.
Dressed in a Taoist robe, with a topknot, the visitor exuded a mystic aura but couldn’t hide the fact that he was a Taoist.
Ismeria Jennings was the first to speak up, whispering, "Mommy, this uncle dresses so strangely."
Odessa immediately held her young daughter close, "Don’t speak like that."
Though she admonished her, a smile was clearly on her face.
Adam transitioned from initial shock to relief and even a hint of schadenfreude.
Chase’s eyes reflected a tinge of derision.
They knew it; Scarlett couldn’t have done better than Adam.
This so-called recruitment officer...
Looked utterly incongruous; it must be some unremarkable, unofficial university.
Indeed, the Taoist first bowed slowly to the Jennings Family before accurately focusing on Scarlett,
"This must be Master Guan. I am a recruitment officer from the Sea City Taoist Academy, here to invite Master Guan to join us for study."
The Jennings Family felt incredibly complex emotions.
Though they all knew Scarlett liked dabbling with mystical stuff—even Old Sir Jennings accepted his granddaughter’s "hobby"—actually seeing a Taoist visit for "recruitment" felt almost laughably absurd.
What kind of Taoist Academy was this? Never heard of it.
Could this kind of academy even be a legitimate university?
Michael Jennings had never believed in such things and couldn’t help but frown now,
"Scarlett, your second uncle knows you like these things, but you are not allowed to go to that academy."
Even with poor grades, one couldn’t attend a school that didn’t even seem to qualify as a university.
If a Jennings child went to some Taoist academy, the family’s reputation would be ruined if word got out!
He stood firmly against it.
