Chapter 1458 - Chapter 1458 Chapter 1556 Strategizing Millions of Ghosts
Chapter 1458: Chapter 1556: Strategizing Millions of Ghosts, Swallowing the World! Chapter 1458: Chapter 1556: Strategizing Millions of Ghosts, Swallowing the World! The origins of the Demon Clan’s Sacred Tree are unknown even to successive Demon Saints; they only know it is an ancient tree of countless ages, possessing unimaginable power–so long as the Sacred Tree stands, the Demon Clan shall exist eternally in this world.
Once, a Demon Saint tried to assimilate the Sacred Tree into himself in order to enter the realm of eternal immortality and become a true immortal.
Unfortunately, the Sacred Tree couldn’t be assimilated, not even with the power of a Demon Saint.
That Demon Saint ultimately suffered a backlash from the Sacred Tree, losing most of his cultivation, and fell prematurely.
This incident led to the subsequent Demon Saints holding a mysterious taboo regarding the Sacred Tree; they relied on its power, but also feared it.
In ancient times, some powerful members of the Human Clan also coveted the Demon Clan’s Sacred Tree. The most famous among them was the Martial Lord Hou Yi.
Hou Yi was the latest and most domineering one to achieve Martial Lord status. After learning about the existence of the Demon Clan’s Sacred Tree, he used his formidable cultivation to suppress the previous generation Demon Saint, Old Dried Corpse Jin Zhulong, and then attempted to destroy the Sacred Tree to completely sever the Demon Clan’s hope of future empowerment.
However, the Sacred Tree continued to exist. Hou Yi did not destroy it, and no one knew what he did to the Tree or what he experienced. People only knew that Hou Yi disappeared for a long time after that, only reappearing to save the world when a great calamity descended.
In the eyes of the Demon Beast clan, even a Martial Lord could not shake the Demon Clan’s Sacred Tree.
But what kind of tree is this, that even the most powerful beings between heaven and earth cannot move it? This is simply too astonishing.
Two Demon Bones were swallowed up by the Demon Clan’s Sacred Tree; Great Sage Equal to Heaven was helpless and didn’t know this would happen, and even less whether this was good or bad.
If the Sacred Tree truly swallowed the two Demon Bones of Fang Lin, then Fang Lin would have no hope of revival.
Left with no choice, Great Sage Equal to Heaven could only wait under the Sacred Tree, silently hoping to witness something different occur.
****
In a place bathed in golden light, two Demon Bones lay quietly within the radiance, one black and one white, representing the two strongest creatures to have ever appeared between heaven and earth.
True Dragon and Kylin!
In the heyday of Martial Arts, True Dragons and Kylins were nearly extinct, and in this era, these two creatures had long since perished.
The value of these two bones was enough to drive all cultivators across the Nine Countries Seven Seas mad. Even Immortal realm powerhouses would covet these two Demon Bones.
For Fang Lin to have these two bones in one body, it seemed to everyone an unimaginable fortune.
Under the bath of golden light, the two Demon Bones underwent different changes.
The Kylin Demon Bone, having been inside Fang Lin’s body for a longer period, retained a faint trace of life force within it, even though Fang Lin’s physical body had perished.
The True Dragon Demon Bone, however, did not, as Fang Lin had not merged with it for long. Had the Kylin Demon Bone been destroyed back then, leaving only the True Dragon Demon Bone, Fang Lin truly would have had no chance of revival.
But now, the Kylin Demon Bone was preserved as well, and with the power of the Sacred Tree, the life force within the Demon Bone belonging to Fang Lin continued to grow stronger.
At this moment, in this golden light, a shadow quietly appeared.
This was a figure engulfed in golden light, indiscernible in gender or appearance.
This person stood before the two Demon Bones, motionless for a long time.
“Not yet time,” murmured the golden figure after a while, extending a finger to touch the Kylin Demon Bone.
With that touch, a heartbeat suddenly resounded from within the Kylin Demon Bone.
Thump! Thump! Thump!
This is the heartbeat of a human, not that of a Kylin. At this moment, Fang Lin’s faint vitality grew tenfold.
After doing this, the golden figure turned and vanished from the spot.
In some unknown place, two figures sat cross-legged.
“He just made a move with the aid of the Sacred Tree,” said a woman’s voice, carrying a hint of worry.
“Whether it’s a blessing or a curse is yet to be known,” the man replied indifferently, not very concerned.
At that moment, another figure slowly approached from behind them, holding a bright, blood-red, bizarre longsword.
“You’ve finally come,” the man said, looking back and shaking his head slightly.
“Hah, I had to come, feeling too suffocated,” the newcomer laughed, his aged face filled with emotion.
It’s hard to tell how much time had passed, but the heartbeat from within the Kylin Demon Bone grew louder and clearer, with traces of flesh emerging on the surface of the Kylin Demon Bone.
Beside it, the True Dragon Demon Bone, though not undergoing these changes, faintly displayed glimpses of True Dragon Vitality within the dragon bones.
The dragon’s chant and the heartbeat intertwined, seeming to resonate with each other, as if competing in their own ways.
What exactly would happen here might only be known by that golden figure who had appeared.
In the Extreme North Land, within the Sky Swallowing Palace.
The red-haired woman wearing a Kylin mask suddenly clutched her chest, the throbbing causing her pain.
“Is it your physical body that’s about to revive? Is that why you’re so excited?” the red-haired woman murmured under the Kylin mask, her pale face showing a hint of joy despite the pain.
At the woman’s feet, a Golden-Haired Beast lay prostrate, about the size of a lion or tiger, looking quite delightful and lazy, occasionally yawning.
Feeling the woman’s pain, the Golden-Haired Beast nuzzled her feet with its fluffy head, making a soft noise.
“He’ll be back soon; are you waiting for his return too?” the red-haired woman asked, stroking its head and speaking softly.
Though the Golden-Haired Beast could not speak, it understood human language, nodding repeatedly, as tame as a house cat.
In the hall stood many figures, all wearing masks that hid their faces and expressions, silent as if they were statues.
The red-haired woman removed her Kylin mask, revealing her pale yet strikingly beautiful face, her blood-red hair cascading down to the ground behind her.
Dugu Nian of the past, now the Hall Master of the Sky Swallowing Palace, her temperament has changed, though her appearance remains the same.
In her hands, she controlled these rootless souls, turning them into the claws and fangs of the Sky Swallowing Palace, to do the things that the man before her intended yet hadn’t accomplished.
Dugu Nian, before his return, will do as much as she can for him, even if it means defying the whole world.
Commanding myriad spirits, swallowing the heavens!
