Chapter 1370: Chapter 1468: Life Force of All Things Chapter 1370: Chapter 1468: Life Force of All Things Fang Lin halted his steps, watching the old man standing ten paces away with a cold gaze.

“Are you the guardian of this place?” Fang Lin asked, his face devoid of fear as he brazenly sized up the old man.

The old man responded with a gloomy and cold sneer, his eyes piercing Fang Lin like a hawk, “You are right, I am the guardian of this place. Now that you know who I am, you should be aware that your life is in my hands.”

Fang Lin cracked a slight smile, “My life is controlled only by myself; you cannot grasp it.”

Hearing this, the old man’s face showed a clear sneer, “Outsiders are always so confident, sadly, you are overly confident. Do you think just because you survived the previous guardians, you are something extraordinary?”

Fang Lin shook his head and smiled lightly, “I don’t consider myself extraordinary, but I also don’t think you guardians are that formidable. In my view, you’re all just so-so.”

“Very well, since that’s the case, I shall let you witness the strength of a guardian and give you a taste of what it’s like,” the old man said, slamming his cane onto the ground.

Suddenly, a force that didn’t belong to the old man surged from beneath the earth into his body via the cane.

The already formidable old man, now fueled by this power, burst forth with even more vigorous and powerful momentum.

In a place hidden from Fang Lin’s view, a patch of forest quietly withered and decayed, devoid of life, and became deathly still.

“My power is much stronger than the other guardians. In front of me, you are as insignificant as an ant,” the old man said with a fierce smile. As he raised his hand, a palm strike headed straight for Fang Lin.

The power of this palm was immense, and Fang Lin could distinctly feel a force pressing down on him.

Just this one strike alone reached the level of the Minor Longevity, Fang Lin was certain he couldn’t withstand it with his own strength.

A shadow darted out, the Demon Puppet appeared.

The Demon Puppet charged directly at the descending Palm Impression and threw a punch, clashing fiercely with the old man’s palm.

The impact was like a collision of heaven and earth. The palm strike, comparable to the full force of the Minor Longevity, was shattered by the Demon Puppet, leaving Fang Lin untouched.

Seeing this, the old man’s expression finally changed. His gloomy eyes fixed on the Demon Puppet with evident apprehension. Though the Demon Puppet had struck hastily, the old man could tell that this seemingly puppet-like figure possessed unfathomable strength.

“Old man, are you going to keep fighting? My puppet here is not something you can handle. The previous guardians were all subdued by me. Even if you are stronger than them, I doubt you are a match for my puppet,” Fang Lin said, grinning as he stood behind the Demon Puppet.

“Hmph! Just a puppet, I don’t believe it can turn the tables in my territory,” the old man snorted heavily, his cane swinging repeatedly, drawing mysterious and potent powers from all around, which surged into his body.

Instantly, the old man straightened his stooped figure, the senescence in his body lessened substantially, replaced by vibrant vitality.

Moreover, his face and body exhibited signs of rejuvenation. Although not quite to that extent, he appeared to have regained at least ten years of youth.

Fang Lin was moved, wondering where this old guy had gotten such power and vitality. Could it be the guardian’s power? But it seemed too bizarre; power couldn’t come from nowhere, could it?

“Kid, the power inside this person won’t last long, but be careful still. It’s hard to tell what his limits are,” the Old Dried Corpse advised.

Fang Lin nodded slightly. With the Demon Puppet in hand, he was not afraid of this old foe.

Meanwhile, the Monk from the valley apparently also heard the commotion outside and ran out.

“Monk, you’ve come at the right time. Let’s deal with him together,” Fang Lin said to the Monk, trying to drag him into the fray.

The Monk’s eyes were red and swollen, evidently distressed by Fang Lin’s earlier ramblings, which led the Monk to mistakenly believe his companion was dead, leaving him heartbreakingly upset.

“Benefactor, I am weak and probably can’t be of much help. Besides, my mind is in disarray right now and I am powerless,” the Monk said sorrowfully, then just walked past.

Fang Lin looked perplexed. Was the Monk being foolish? He’s an outsider as well; did he think the guardian would spare him?

Observing the Monk, the old man sneered, “As long as you are in this place, I will kill you all, no one can escape.”

The Monk seemingly ignored this, his steps quickened, disappearing in no time.

“Benefactor, I wish you luck,” the Monk’s voice came from afar.

Fang Lin rolled his eyes, thinking that the Monk really was something else.

“Die, boy!” the old man lunged towards Fang Lin like a tiger pouncing on its prey.

The Demon Puppet swung a punch at the old man’s face, a particularly forceful blow, which the old man did not attempt to block.

Yet, the blow appeared to inflict no harm on the old man, only causing him to pause slightly before he fiercely struck the Demon Puppet.

The Demon Puppet staggered back, and so did Fang Lin, his eyes filled with disbelief.

“Can this old guy actually match the Demon Puppet now?” Fang Lin said incredulously.

But soon, he realized that the old man, while having withstood a punch from the Demon Puppet, was not completely unscathed. Blood seeped from the corners of his mouth, and his breathing was slightly disturbed.

“What a formidable puppet!” the old man grew increasingly shocked. He had initially thought that the Demon Puppet’s strength was comparable to the Minor Longevity, but now it seemed it was far more than that.

Although the old man was a guardian capable of absorbing the vitality of all living things in this area as his power source, even he wasn’t without limits. His body was weakening, his life nearing its end. If the power he absorbed was too immense, he’d be overwhelmed by it.

As a guardian, however, he had the advantage of utilizing the life force from his surroundings to prolong his life, thus he had managed to survive this long even with his limited lifespan.

Facing a Long-lived One, Minor Longevity was manageable, buoyed by his identity as a guardian, the old man was confident he could overcome any opponent.

But if faced with the Great Longevity, the old man would feel intimidated–it wasn’t just a matter of victory, but a life-threatening challenge.

At that moment, Fang Lin suddenly recalled what Zhong Wuwei had mentioned earlier, the guardian seemed to have a great need for Pills.

“Old man, how about we make a deal?” Fang Lin spoke up.
