Chapter 1278 - Chapter 1278 Chapter 1377 Jade Chessboard
Chapter 1278: Chapter 1377: Jade Chessboard Chapter 1278: Chapter 1377: Jade Chessboard The heavy snow could not conceal the figure moving through the blizzard.
Here in the Extreme North Land, to have reached this place indicated that this person was exceptionally powerful, certainly a top-notch expert among the Nine Countries.
At the foot of the Pill Pole Tower, four elderly men seated cross-legged on ice platforms seemed to feel something and opened their eyes simultaneously.
The four elders looked up, directing their gaze toward the voice in the blizzard, their eyes revealing a hint of unusual color.
Suddenly, an invisible aura spread in all directions, and the rampant snow instantly dissipated into nothingness.
Not far away, a figure slowly walked towards the Pill Pole Tower.
“Stop where you are,” declared one of the elders seated on the eastern ice platform, his voice quite calm.
The figure did not stop, continuing at a steady pace, seemingly unperturbed.
“Stop where you are,” the elder from the east repeated, his voice not loud, but now with an added touch of authority.
Yet, the figure did not halt, as if he had not heard the elder’s words at all, or perhaps simply did not take the scolding seriously.
“Stop where you are!” The third call came, the elder’s tone now carrying a tint of intimidation, his presence bursting forth.
The figure still did not stop, continuing to approach, getting closer both to the Pill Pole Tower and the four elders.
The elder from the east finally grew angry; they were the guardians responsible for protecting the Pill Pole Tower, and aside from a few members of the Pill Alliance, no one was allowed near the tower.
The elder raised his hand, and a massive Palm Impression burst forth, carrying an overwhelming force and heading straight for the figure.
With this palm strike, the elder was not holding back. Although he did not know who the person was, after having shouted three times without response, it became clear the stranger had ill intentions.
Since the newcomer was unfriendly, there was no need for courtesy.
As the palm strike approached the stranger, the other three elders watched closely, prepared to act at any moment without rash intervention.
Just as the Palm Impression was about to hit the figure, with a wave of his sleeve, the strike suddenly paused and then flew back towards the elder.
This turn of events caused the elder to shift his expression. He thrust out his right hand violently, shattering the rebounding Palm Impression.
At this movement, the other three elders grew vigilant; the stranger had been able to deflect the elder’s attack with ease, an indication of a formidable skill level.
But it was not surprising; one had to be strong to venture so far into the Extreme North Land.
Now, the four elders finally saw the newcomer’s face clearly.
It was none other than Situ Yue, the peak powerhouse from the Seven Seas Rumen.
Situ Yue’s face was cool, dressed in a plain white robe that complemented the icy wasteland around her.
“As expected, someone is guarding this place, but they are not enough to stop me,” Situ Yue looked up at the towering black Pill Pole Tower and murmured to herself.
The four elders did not dare to be careless, knowing that their constant vigilance here did not mean ignorance of the outside world.
They were aware of the outbreak of the great war between the lands, the disappearance of the Qin Emperor and Yuan Emperor, and some of the experts from the Seven Seas and the three sects. The upper echelons of the Pill Alliance would often keep them informed with many updates.
As a top fighter of the Rumen, someone who had battled the Three Emperors, Situ Yue was recognized by most in the Nine Countries.
At this moment, with Situ Yue’s sudden appearance, the four elders immediately realized her identity.
“Why has someone from the Seven Seas come here?” the elder who had attacked first asked with a grave voice.
Situ Yue’s expression was emotionless, as cold as the omnipresent ice of the Extreme North Land. Faced with the elder’s question, she showed no intention of responding.
“Why waste words on her? Regardless of who she is, we must capture her first and decide afterwards,” another elder spoke, seemingly more quick-tempered.
Situ Yue’s face carried a hint of disdain. Still, she wasn’t taking the situation lightly. These four elders were skilled guardians of the Pill Pole Tower, undoubtedly possessing considerable abilities; unqualified individuals would not be tasked with such an important charge.
Situ Yue moved, displaying the martial arts of Rumen. A complex ancient character emerged in the sky, unleashing its boundless power.
Only a single character, yet it birthed numerous profound martial arts techniques in an instant, each move and combination of the highest order.
All of these martial techniques were encapsulated within this single ancient character, demonstrating the extent of Situ Yue’s martial cultivation.
With the emergence of this character, it surged towards the four elders.
The elders took it seriously, aware that Situ Yue was among the most elite of Rumen, and even their combined effort did not guarantee they could subdue her.
Boom!!!
The four struck in unison, and four Palm Impressions shot forward, each one harnessing their utmost strength.
As the ancient character advanced, it collided with the four Palm Impressions. For a moment, the very heavens and earth seemed to dim, the entire Extreme North Land shaking.
Situ Yue remained indifferent, having executed just one move, she did not attack further, merely watching the four elders coldly.
After a long conflict, the ancient character gradually gained the upper hand, and the four elders, realizing this, struck again.
Situ Yue wasn’t going to give the elders any chance. With a flourish of her hand, a Jade Chessboard flew out.
Upon its appearance, the chessboard emitted a strange force that enveloped the four elders underneath.
In an instant, the figures of the elders shrank, becoming trapped within the chessboard as if they were insignificant chess pieces.
“Not good!” the elders exclaimed in their minds, now ensnared within the chessboard, unable to see the sky above, with nothing but the Jade Chessboard beneath their feet, they seemed to become part of the game, unable to escape from it.
Situ Yue waved her hand, and the Jade Chessboard returned to her possession, a treasured item from a branch of Rumen known as the Spirit Martial Chess Sect.
Situ Yue was not from the Spirit Martial Chess Sect; however, they were branches of the same Rumen tree, and the four main sectors had a harmonious relationship, lending each other treasures without issue.
If Situ Yue wished, she could have borrowed powerful items from each of the four sectors.
This was a form of solidarity that the Taoist Sect, also one of the three sects, could not match. The Taoist Sect had multiple branches too, like the notable Chongyun Temple, Purple Qi Palace, and Green Sun Sect, which were not as harmonious with each other, and only united against external threats.
Situ Yue glanced at the four elders on the chessboard, a cold smile on her lips, then turned her gaze towards the Pill Pole Tower.
“It is said that this tower is the very foundation of the Pill Alliance, and to destroy it would be to destroy the Pill Alliance’s foundation,” Situ Yue spoke.
